Surely, you must have come across a lot of people who dismiss specs as rubbish. I know I have. As soon they ask, “oh this your photo is lovely, how can I make my phone take such a photo?” As soon as you start explaining that their phone uses an 8 megapixel (mp) camera and cannot take pictures like a 48mp camera, you have lost them. They are no longer interested. Other times, they may walk in on you playing a popular but very demanding game like eFootball PES 2020 and they are like, please send me na. You check their phone and they are using a low end Mediatek device and soon as you try to explain the technicalities, many of them would say “send me game jor”. Sometimes, the game may work and lag or it may not even work at all. Rather than blame the phone, many of them may blame you the sender or the app. It’s even possible that some of you belong to these set of persons I just mentioned.

At many reputable outlets, the marketers do not bother to educate their customers because the customers do not want to be educated. We always want the short version. “Is the phone good?” “Yes”. “The camera good?”, “Ehn….”, “Yes or no?”, “Yes sir/ma, top notch”. Owa! As the Yorubas would say, we don buy phone.

Everyone has different uses for a phone. Different people with what they value in a phone;

-There are some people that care about processor performance and the ability to run any app or play any game.

-There are others who are social media enthusiasts and only care about pictures and cameras.

-Another group only cares about batteries.

-Some others who use their phones as mini television sets fuss over the displays of their phones.

-And finally, there are people like me who are the allrounders. We want a bit of everything in a phone in the above list i.e Good Processor, Good Display, Good Battery, Good Camera e.t.c.

If you like good processors in a phone, you’ll have to learn about the different types of processors that are used in phones as well as the companies that make them.

If you are a camera person then you need to learn about megapixels, image sensors and image sensor makers, focal lengths, pixel sizes and how these affect camera performance.

Battery people don’t have a lot of stress, they can learn about the several types of batteries as well as battery capacity in milliamp hours (mAh).

When you are conversant with these information, you’ll understand why your camera performs the way it does or why your phone is fast or slow amongst other things.

The last and most important of all these is Price. Apart from the fair few who can afford any Smartphone that they want, a lot of us, myself included use a phone for about two years before opting for a new one. Even at that the resources for getting a new phone may be very limited and would often leave a hole in your pocket. Some companies may sell for fair prices while others sell for unfair prices and cheat customers. When you know your specs, no one can manipulate or deceive you.

Hi! Please recommend a phone for me. My budget is 100k plus or minus some extra cash. I don't want to buy Tecno, infinix or their likes, would prefer a Samsung phone. I'm really not a techie but I'd love something with good all-round quality. Thanks

Though I don't know how much you trust xiaomi but am sure you won't regret it if you go for the redmi note 9s the 6/128 gb version. Am using the note 9 pro and it is an all rounder. Try it out and see plus xiaomi makes sure they push updates both to solve bugs and security patches and sometimes major android upgrades.
Thanks bro. How much does it cost?

Please guys I need suggestions
Politics / Re: Aisha Buhari: 'There Is No Pillow In Aso Rock, I Can’t Be Stopped From Talking' by jonathanOz: 3:00am On Dec 07, 2019
Nuzo1:
At first, i thought it was one of those comedy skits. But after a few minutes, i quickly realized it was truly Mrs Buhari talking. Sometimes out of point, sometimes very on point and most times contradictory. Just her trademark.

A few weeks ago, i commented in one of the threads here where i condemned the way the cabal and their associates treated her in Aso rock. While I still condemn the treatment, I've come to understand a little bit of why her husband's people are very weary of her. "She can burn a house down if things don't go her way". She can also be unnecessarily authoritative and condescending.

In the video conversation, she still maintains her stands on clamp down of the "Freedom of speech", but when praised of her loud and unrestricted voice in aso rock, she said she's a human being and will keep talking. Contradiction?

The honest truth is that if the cabal and buharis relative did not keep her in check; she would have been far worst and rascally than Turai and patience combined together.

She also mentioned how Ekere people didn't allow voters loyal to other parties to come to their ward during election. This is an indictment.

From all her speeches since the ascension of buhari, it's very clear she doesn't give a hoot about anyone who didn't vote her husband and who is not in apc. All you keep hearing is "our party. Those who voted for us".

Nigeria is fast asleep. And it's already evening. How do you meet up with what you should have done in the day time like others did?
You get sense. That 'ekene' part got me.

1. Lucky you, most USA school careless about class of degree. And from the look of things 3.2/5.0 would be 3.0+ on a 4.0 scale, which is what most schools request as the minimum. So just google "wes igpa converter" to know you CGPA on a 4.0 scale equivalent.

2. Admission is on a holistic basis in most schools. Provided you meet the minimum requirement of the dept. in GPA,GRE, Toefl...you stand a chance to get your application reviewed. Funding is dependent on a lot of factors, the most important being availability of funding in your research interest. Just note that PhD are more funded than Msc. However, Msc admission is easier than PhD. So your take!

3. The cost is usually on the university web page. An estimate for US schools is usually between $20 - 40k could be higher or less depending on school. (I assume you meant only tuition)

My take!
Thanks a lot man

1) you should be able to get admitted to a school in US considering your grade point. However, how easy that will come, I can’t tell.

2) Funding depends on so many factors, gpa, Gre score, research experience, in some schools (toefl scores, previous awards and honors) and most importantly availability.
Thanks

After going through some pages of this thread I must say I've just realised that I have a lot of work to do. I graduated in 2014, studied Microbiology, with a CGPA of 3.2/5. Very poor right? I know I could have done better but some challenges made me have that poor result. I want to do my masters abroad (preferably the US, Canada, Australia and those top countries but I wouldn't mind other less competitive European or Asian countries). Of recent I've been doing some researches as regards requirements and all that. I got to understand that I need GRE, TOEFL and exams like that. I never knew seeking for Masters admission abroad is this demanding. I'm optimistic and very ready to do all within my power to get admission into a good school abroad in the nearest time possible but I need serious guidance because sometimes I get tired and confused. I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me answer some of these questions below...

1. With my second class-lower undergraduate result, can I easily get admitted into a good school abroad for M.sc in Epidemiology or any related biomedical course?

2. How easy is it to get scholarships( whether fully funded or partly funded ) and can I get one with my result?

3. What's the average cost of study in America or in Europe for masters. Just an estimate please

I have lots of other questions but let me stop here for now. Thanks guys for the thread
