FACEBOOK TO OPEN CONTENT REVIEW CENTRE IN NAIROBI


The centre is expected to employ to 100 reviewers by the end of the year that will support a number of languages, including Somali, Oromo, Swahili and Hausa.



Facebook’s Public Policy Director Africa Ebele Okobi says this is part of the firm’s continued investment across sub-Saharan Africa and commitment to safety and security on its platform.

The centre is in partnership with Samasource – one of the largest digital employers in East Africa and a leading social enterprise.

“This further highlights our commitment to serving the community of people using our platforms across Africa, as well as our commitment to continuing to invest and partner locally across the continent. I am delighted that through our partnership with Samasource we will be opening our first content review centre here in Africa,” Okobi said.

Fazdai Madzingira, Public Policy Associate for content said over the years, Facebook has made significant investments globally, and locally in ensuring that people see the content they want to see, and are aware of what is and isn’t allowed on the platform.

“We want Facebook to be a place where people can express themselves and freely discuss different points of view, whilst ensuring that it remains safe for everyone,” Madzingira added.

Carolyn Komen, Samasource Program Director said the partnership with Facebook in Nairobi will help keep Facebook safe.

“We use technology and private sector methods to measurably improve access to work and job training. Our team will receive extensive training and support, benefit from industry-leading facilities, and have the opportunity to advance their careers in tech through this partnership.”

We are embarking on affordable housing project that will deliver like 1000,000 homes to 4/5 million Kenyans by 2022. We don't need to build new brand cities.That's how slums are eliminated- the gov't is providing cheap alternative housing to this communities!

how comes you have one Doctor to every 16000 patient with population of around 50 millions and Nigeria with a populations 200M has a ration of 1 doctors to 6000 patients , tell me of what use it your so called " Best care systems and ;Dhospital when many would die before been reached by a doctor?

Our doctor's pay per month is roughly 2000 dollars .This are the figures they get! Remember we haven't still factored in the allowances!

Our professionals always demand to be one of the best paid in the continent! We don't pay peanuts like in Tz!

This will bring forth lots of reactions but we all know the guys that have a huge stake in this private sector! The blacks have been reducing the gap albeit much slowly and are mainly being aided by the fact that they have the government machinery!

Kenya is fcking zoo indeed , how can a country with population of less than 50M but got one doctor to every 16000 patients , but a country of almost 200M people "Nigeria" currently has a ratio of one doctor to 6,000 patients, I advice Kenyans to change Nationalities cause Kenya can never be great with all indices .
Bad and large unpaved roads networks,High level of debts, Tiny Foreign reserves , High level of corruption in Infrastructure developments, could only generates $200m from all counties IGR, Lack of control of resources, Terrorism, Tribalism, lack of planned cities.
I swear to God, Kenya and its people are cursed !!!!

The private sector props up South Africa,I know the black South Africans will say that the ANC governments have done more-which is true but the presence of a well established private sector ever since the black man came to power is what keeps them afloat.Well,that's a discussion for another day!

When you are at that level of 6000 plus GDP per capita,the middle-class is very much broad.Lifestyle diseases are on the rife. They've also been known to be the gang crime capital in Africa.AIDS is a disaster there.Factor all this and you get a low life expectancy.They need to focus more on the preventive measures rather than the curative measures of diseases.Their health system and professionals is already top!
