“We are adopting a more elaborate bus transit system than what we saw in Dar es Salaam. We noted some weaknesses in the system such as tardiness in bus arrivals and departures,” said Namata CEO James Ng’ang’a. http://cceonlinenews.com/2018/05/18/kenya-inspired-by-bogota-bus-rapid-transit-model-in-city-decongestion/ ![]() |
I highlighted this before. For your information,we will be settling for Bogota City BRT model! http://cceonlinenews.com/2018/05/18/kenya-inspired-by-bogota-bus-rapid-transit-model-in-city-decongestion/ Is it an achievement when Kenyan's go to Tanzania for a study tour? We studied BRT models of many cities and the Colombia one was chosen above all! Kazikazi:

You may invest in roads, rails and other big money projects that consume alot of cement and steel but still won't reach your goals if you don't invest in your people. Education, security, food, healthcare and other critical people based developments are great enablers of a country's vision. Development needs of a country should be balanced! |
The fact that education takes the biggest share of the budget makes me happy. This will soon pay off. Matching resource based economies and going neck to neck with them in some economic indicators is mostly thanks to our investment in human capital. Development shouldn't be all about asphalt (roads), we should invest in our people so as to kick out ignorance from them. TayserMahri: |
I can be partly right or wrong. That was just my perspective of how I see it. Justnotyou: |
This might actually support quite a fast moving train, the purpose of the bridges and embankments is mostly in cutting the gradient. With a raised and flat platform with less curves, the train wouldn't need 'to climb' when the topography of a place is hilly. The functions of the rail too will weigh on,a passenger dedicated rail would be fast,a cargo dedicated rail wouldn't be so fast. For a rail dedicated for both passenger and cargo, many factors would have to be considered as the number of trips, signaling stations, distance of the railway and the rolling stock specifications among many other factors will weigh on the speeds! Quite possible but not wholly possible? Fair enough As they say-Necessity is the mother of invention. The Bantu who lived in the African Savannah was quite comfortable with life, this is to say that he didn't need much innovations to better aspects of his/her life.Food was plentiful in the Savannah-he didn't think much about inventions such as irrigation to add more food stock. The weather was quite favorable-the need to build strong weather proof houses wasn't a concern, there was no snow or desert storms. There was no need for hot showers,no heating technology was needed .It is this kind of life that made us not think 'outside the box' The environment made us who we are.We were also socialists in nature and religious. When Europeans separated the church from the statehood, they greatly made gains in science and tech.Read about the renaissance. In Europe we had the royal families and the noble men, educated men and the common men. This structure made them more capitalistic that they even thought of conquering distant lands to add more into their wants. Africans couldn't come up with world changing ideas because of our diversity. We are so diverse. Our continent was so large. How could we communicate to even effectively share ideas in this large continent or even move about. In Africa, you'll have a small country like Kenya with 42 tribes,in UK you'll have the English,Scottish, the Irish and who else? It is more like the tower of Babel, everyone speaks differently so that renders communication impossible! THE SHEER SIZE OF THE CONTINENT AND OUR DIVERSITY ARE ONE OF THE MAJOR FACTORS THAT MADE US LESS DEVELOPED IN TECHNOLOGY THAN EUROPEANS. We only have Eight major linguistic groups in Europe, large tribes enjoy large advantages.A piece of information that landed in Greece, would quickly reach the English group. You couldn't have this happening in Africa! Because this good innovation would have to bypass several languages and massive distances. There are so many factors that make us have this 'low IQ' that everyone is talking about. However, you might say that you are more 'intelligent' than a bushman or a Khoisan but you probably won't survive if you were dropped inside the Kalahari or the Amazon simply because you aren't intelligent enough to survive in such an environment! You might have to rethink what intelligence really means and how to measure it effectively! Justnotyou: |

I'm not talking of tribes! Someone help this fella! samsobo24: |

You learn from all.We will mix the best practices from the two.The collaboration focuses on helping Kenya achieving UHC in three areas -- insurance and financing, prioritising benefits packages and technology assessment, and human resource development. Yeah,we can partner Thailand in the airline industry, tourism, agriculture, modeling and such stuff! rvp20182: |
