Absolutely. You need 5 Matiangis/Michukis/Nyachaes/Rutos. Basically people with a commonsense approach to issues and who actually get stuff done. Otherwise majority of ministers think their jobs is to attend meetings, read a prepared speech and go back home. Others think their job is to churn out policy after policy after policy. What is lacking is implementation & the discipline to see through reforms.

I hope Matiangi after 1 more year in security - get shifted to Agriculture or Manufacturing. I think Macharia is also very good. But the two guys running food security & manufacturing have not yet owned the vision.

I also very optimistic but let's be realistic. Our manufacturing has gone down from 17% of the economy to 8% the last decade. Poor countries like Uganda and Ethiopia are starting to export finished goods to Kenya. We need to do a lot more here. I think Adan Mohammed knew what he was doing - but the miraa chewing guy now - is pretty much useless. The same with Kiunjuri & Wamalwa...to fix our food security....we must do what we did with energy...dump anything rain...and focus on irrigation schemes. That should be gov singular focus...not worrying about smallholder farmers issues (let counties handle those).

But good thing is that anti-corruption fight seems to be so serious - people are now pausing - before they dip their hands in public coffers.

But yes with or without - Big 4 agenda - Kenya economy will grow - it's on it's own momentum now - and GDP will certainly rise from 9 trillion Kshs to 15 trillion Kshs in 2022. You can already seem the amount of money getting wired through m-pesa - last year I think folks wired around 4.5 Kshs trillion (45B) through mobile money - that shows your the economy is very vibrant.

Anyway if gov delivers 0.5M housing at those prices (1M for 1 bedroom) and ensure nearly everyone has NHIF cover for both in & out patient and then continue to fight corruption & invest in basic infrastructure - I would be more than happy and Uhuru legacy will be more than secured.

I don't see 2 of the big 4 panning out. Universal health care will certainy happen. 0.5 housing units is also going to happen - already gov this year will get 1B dollars plus from housing tax. Food security & Manufacturing - there simply no serious plan there.

Kenya has highest number of people under ARVs - even more impressively on children on ARVs.
New infection in Kenya & Tanzania is very low.
South Africa still have nearly 1/4 a million new infection annually.
Nigeria - although HIV is not a serious problem in west africa - it appears epidemics is just starting.

What your lazy and envious behind doesn't understand is that South Africa counts everyone who benefits from their system that includes immigrants, Kenyans included . As someone who is involved in the healthcare system in south Africa, I know the kind of pressure their health system is under, and the millions of immigrants from across Africa and South Asia that are on ARVs. I don't know any other African country that has to carry that load on it's back. Who goes to Kenya and Uganda for better healthcare ? . You are on the top 5 of the countries affected yet you have no one invading your system , imagine if you had 10 million immigrants with a large percentage of them living with hiv , your system would collapse within days .
