Where did I say Iheanacho learnt finishing in England? See me and Yara Yara, see trouble.

I said, City play Iheanacho up front because, as you said in the bolded above, his biggest asset is finishing. He will have more chances to finish more playing up front.

If not City, Iheanacho might not get converted to a striker where he gets chances to finish at such frequency.
What frequency? You think he would not score as many goals if he was played in his natural position? Did you see what Manu and his coach at the academy said? Did you see how many goals and assists he scored playing as a playmaker in the U17? Did you see how many goals he has scored playing close to the midfield in the Super Eagles? I have noticed that being a City fan clouds your judgment. Fact is that he is being underutilized at City. He doesn't get to express himself and play to his strengths in that club, yet you keep insisting City is the best club for him. Baffles!

Rohr Reacts To Rumours Of Unpaid Two Months Salary By The NFF

https://i1.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/image-26.jpg?w=530

Head coach of the Nigeria senior national team has reacted to rumours making the round that he is yet to be paid by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), since he resumed as coach of the team two months ago.

German coach Rohr is reportedly on a salary of $47,000 (N18.6m), but rumours has it that the cash strapped NFF will struggle to pay the salary of the coach due to the economy problems in Nigeria.

The issue of non payment of salary to coaches has been a problem peculiar to the NFF, as witnessed with the last two coaches of the team and various coaches in the Nigeria national team set up.

Although the coach revealed in September that he is not bothered about being owed salary, as he is fully focused on qualifying Nigeria for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Owngoalnigeria.com can reveal, that he has not been paid since taking over the Super Eagles job two months ago, a report the manager played down during a chat with Osasu Obayiuwana.

” Salary’s secondary. I am here to work. Even when it’s not coming immediately, I’m not hungry”.

HOW TO GET MORALITY FROM GOD

If God is perfectly moral, as believers claim, he should be an excellent role model. Taking God as perfectly moral, you should see these ten things as good:

1. Punishing future generations for the sins of their distant ancestors.

2. Killing a child to punish his father.

3. Punishing a man by having his wife raped in public.

4. Forcing a girl who has been raped to marry her rapist.

5. Holding people as property to be bought, sold and passed on to your children.

6. Killing whole nations if you don't like their religion.

7. Keeping the young girls of defeated tribes for forced sex.

8. Selling your daughters as concubines.

9. Torturing people in fire forever.

10. Killing the firstborn of a whole nation to show how powerful you are.

These are all things, according to the Bible, that God did, or things he commanded or permitted others to do. Interestingly, these are all things that are illegal in every country in the world today but were commonly practiced among the Iron Age tribes who wrote the Bible.

Have we become less moral? Or is the Bible a book of Iron Age morality which we have far surpassed?

Possibly the only way to get morality from God, is to check what he did, and then do the opposite.

Like I have said before, believers are moral than the gods they believe in.

The tap in merchant, is that a good or bad name? After his last goal i am thinking it will stick.
I can assure you that tap-ins are not easy to score. It takes mastery...a type of mastery that makes strikers legends. Gary Lineker, Hernan Crespo, Andrew Cole, Ian Rush, Filipo Inzaghi, and Ruud van Nistelrooy are strikers that became classical scoring tap-ins. Any player should be glad to be in that elite group. But the good thing is that we know he scores more than tap-ins. Nothing bad about it.

GOD'S FAILED STRATEGY

Some say that God not only exists, but longs to have a meaningful relationship with each one of us. However, in his infinite wisdom, God decided to hide from us--forcing us to rely on faith to believe he exists.

One problem with this strategy is that once we resort to faith, we can believe ANY god exists or many gods exist and, with only faith to go on, it's hard for anyone to prove us wrong. This is rather like giving us a special dice with not six faces, but a few thousand faces--with a different god inscribed on each face.

So God allows chance to decide who will engage in a meaningful relationship with him and who won't. It's pretty obvious this doesn't work very well. After 3,000 or more years, people still worship many different gods. And even those who believe in God have widely varying beliefs about what he is like, what he wants of us and his plans for us.

Furthermore, people are increasingly moving from faith to sense and deciding there are no good reasons to believe God exists.

Hiding from the people you dearly love is a ridiculous strategy and you don't need to be omniscient to figure that out.

Here's another who's seeing it all....

Fact is I am certain Pep trusts and believes more in Nacho as regards his playing philosophy more than he does with Aguero.

Nacho is far better fit for this Man City side under Pep than Aguero.

It's funny because Aguero is so highly rated.... Pep has a decision to make going forward:

Start giving Nacho a run of games and order your players to always seek out Nacho (like he did with Messi at Barca) OR

Keep playing an Aguero who doesn't fit in and not complain about the results that come in be they good or bad.
City had its best games this season when Aguero was out. Kelechi, Sterling and Bruyne combination was explosive.

Why can't the coach talk to the players involve, may b he never noticed it yet.
Don't mind them. It's the big player syndrome. Why pass when they think they can do something better with the ball and Kelechi does not have the clout to call their buff.

Sometimes, it's very frustrating to watch. You will see Kelechi dropping deep to call for the ball for those fantastic buildups and they just pass around him.

Average. Aguero has eleven goals already this season.
He thrives like that because the whole team plays for him, which is one of the problems Pep has with him. When he's on the pitch, Silva, Bruyne, Sterling and the rest look to give him the ball. Contrast that with when Kelechi gets on the pitch, it is then that everyone of them starts playing like a striker. Aguero doesn't look for anybody. He gets the ball and always looks to score forgetting the players in better positions. Look at how that cost City the match today. Perhaps Pep will wise up.

I said it before, Aguero is not world class, He might have a good goalscoring record but he isn't world class. his policymaking skills aren't great, his ability to play as a false nine is even worse and I seriously believe that he will follow the same way that Ronaldinho followed, hopefully Nacho will be the Pedro who benefits from that
I remember a 3-page argument I had about Aguero on this page about how average Aguero is. Hope Kelechi stands up to the plate when the blind goes off Pep's eyes.

Forgiveness is mistaking as a Bigot by Supernerd. It's obvious Forgiveness does mention Names related to Yoruba, but that ain't making him a Bigot.

The Names he has mentioned are Nigerians born outside the Continent. Forgiveness is simply a big Fan of foreign Born Players.

The other thing I noticed about him is; he's advocating for a national Team that respects Quota System. And he believes..... with the foreign-born Players, talented Players from other Tribes won't be an issue!

I hope Supernerd can retract the negative things he has posted to degrade the personality of Forgiveness, also I hope Forgiveness will seek for forgiveness from the Monikers he has offended. LOL!
You sir have earned my respect.

The tribalist tag accusation has been going on for too long and like they say, say it enough times and people will start to believe it. It's unfortunate. To say even 'newcomers' call him that is just uncalled for.

I don't feel he is a bigot, and it's amazing that he's never lost his cool for being called that.

Corruption killing sports in Nigeria, Amokachi alleges

•Says Coaches demand N250,000 from young players

https://d19lga30codh7.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/AMOKACHI-D.jpg

By Chris Ochayi ABUJA—

Ex-International, Daniel Omokachi, yesterday, opened a can of worms in the nation’s sporting arena, alleging that Nigerian youths cough out as much as N250,000 each to get into the U-17 team in Nigeria.

Amokachi spoke when he joined forces with coalition of Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, operating under the aegis of National Support Groups for Good Governance, NASUGG, protesting in support of war against corruption in Abuja.

Amokachi who hailed the Department of State Services, DSS, over the arrest of alleged corrupt judges, in Abuja, described the sport arena as den of corruption. Amokachi, while addressing Senators Barnabas Gemade and Ovie Omo-Agege, when the group stormed the gate of the National Assembly, said corruption is endemic in sports.

According to him, “My name is Daniel Amokachi. I have said I will support the movement, because in my field which is sports, corruption is endemic.

“Corruption has invaded sports so deeply that even in FIFA headquarters in Zurich, we saw how the world stood up and said “Enough is enough!”

We saw how the president, Sepp Blatter was not spared. He was removed from office because integrity matters when it comes to the constitution.

“President Buhari is one who doesn’t take nonsense when it comes to fighting corruption. I concur with everything he says.

“For instance, in Nigerian football today, the youths, when invited to the national team, a coach will ask them to bring N250,000 each to get into the U-17 team when he already has the talent. If a person has talent, he should be allowed to showcase what he has in the interest of the nation.”

“A small team cannot win the Nigerian league because all the people in Nigerian football are corrupt. If a referee is bribed and a match is won here, the match cannot be won there.

“The judiciary is not above the law. Mr. President is on a good path’’, he said.

In his reaction, Senator Barnabas Gemade, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Housing, corroborated Amokachi’s position on the rot in the sports sector.

He said, “I’m very particular about your comment on football because I’m one of those who love football. And I started a club called BCC Lion, which you know.

“And I have witnessed all that is happening in the sports arena. And I know that corruption is killing it just as it is killing all other aspect of our national life. We must fight corruption’’, Gemade assured.

'MUSLIMS' CAN CHANGE

All religions have their extremists. Christian extremists want to teach creationism as science; Muslim extremists want to behead infidels.

Christian extremists want to ban abortion; Muslim extremists want to stone women to death for adultery.

Christian extremists want to deny gay people the right to marry; Muslim extremists want to hang them.

Christian extremists want children sent to religious summer camps; Muslim extremists want to execute people who lose their belief in Islam.

Some estimates put extremists at 15-25% of all Muslims. I can't say if that figure is right but I do know it took very little time to recruit enough Muslim extremists to take over half of Iraq by force.

There is a conclusion here that moderate Muslims have never faced up to—a religion that breeds extremists this violent and in these numbers is not fit for purpose.

Jews disregard many of the laws they find in the Torah, such as the law that condemns adulterers to death. But Jews have a get-out-of-jail-free card—they believe men wrote the Bible inspired by God. This gives them licence to re-interpret verses as human morality progresses.

Muslims have no such luck. They believe the Qur'an is the direct word of God, so they cannot change anything and have to believe everything.
It is this burden that stultifies the religion and ensures that, generation-after-generation, it produces individuals with Iron-Age morals who will take a knife and cut off a man's head for holding the wrong beliefs or welcome death as a martyr to gain access to Heaven.

If Islam cannot change, the future is bleak. They will not be able to drag the world back to the Iron-Age and much blood will be shed if they try. If Islam cannot change, the only hope is that Muslims can change.

Yes, I have personally watched him play and am not excited by the level of his technique.
Sometimes he plays like a battering ram, like Emile Heskey.
Players like that score plenty goals in youth set ups because they grew bigger than their mates, hence they use their physical advantage to score loads of goals in the youth sides, but when they graduate to the senior set-up they are found out because they meet their match physically.
People like Anichebe, chucks Aneke, even Agbonlahor had this advantage, we can see where they are now.

If Solanke does not refine his technique, am afraid he will have a very ordinary career.
What do you think about Isaac Success?

VERY IMPRESSIVE INTERVIEW BY ROHR, MANY OF THE ISSUES RAISED ON THIS THREAD WERE ADDRESSED. talks about the RB and LB position, talks about how Musa Muhammad could not measure up in training, talks about Enyeama rejoining if we qualify for the WC..

Congratulations coach, it's two wins from two games for you as Super Eagles coach. What is the feeling like?

Rohr: I feel great starting my job as coach of the Super Eagles on a good note, winning two competitive games. The recent win in Zambia gives me the feeling that we are up to something great. It is nice to work with the players and officials of the team. The Nigeria Football Federation has also made my stay so far wonderful. I am enjoying my stay here now

After Zambia comes Algeria next month. How much do you know about the Algerians?

We know them very well because most of the players have been educated in France, played in France, come from the French academy. Some of them played for French junior teams before changing to playing for the Algerian national team. I have seen them play live and I know their setup. Of course, I know the players.

We will know more of the way they played against Cameroon when the video clips and reports get to us. I sent someone to watch the game and I await the details from him. I have also seen the match on television. We shall do an analysis of the video when we get it and then take it from there and we will know much more about them.

Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani are the Algerian team's star men. Will you pay special attention to the two?

There are big players and star men everywhere. In Zambia, we have Kalaba, Mbesuma and others. Perhaps these ones are at a higher level, we know that it will be very difficult to beat the Algerians, but we have confidence now and will be ready for them. We shall not pay special attention to Mahrez or Slimani. Now our team has high spirit and confidence. Collectively, we are not afraid of the Algerian team.

How did you restore the confidence and the feel good spirit in the Super Eagles?

There is no magic about that. I am a positive man and I know the talents are there in Nigeria. They need fatherly guidance to get going. They responded well to invitation to camp and their attitude has been wonderful. There were lots of communication between us and I demanded discipline on and off the field from them. Good ambience and work ethic have also helped in restoring confidence back in the team.

They made sacrifices for one week prior to the game in Zambia. They did not go out, did not see their families, they only worked. I kept them busy after training with videos and meetings. The spirit was good and we took it to Zambia and won. So they know the reward for hard work now, and we hope to continue to improve from there.

Is this spirit of the team good enough to see the Super Eagles grabbing the World Cup ticket ahead of Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia?

Yes, my players want to have the World Cup ticket. The ticket will be difficult, but everybody knows that we have the capacity to come first out of this group, but you know it requires a lot of hard work. We have already three points, I'm sure with 12 points we could be the team coming out of this group. We shall work very, very hard to ensure that we win all three of our home matches to get 12 points.

After the first game, we are on top, and we can say Cameroon did well to get a draw in Algeria and now it is in our hands to beat the Algerians in Uyo. I know that it will be difficult because they also don't want to lose in Uyo. But we want, absolutely, to win this game and remain on top of the group

Should Nigerians expect new players in the Super Eagles for the game against Algeria next month?

Yes, because all the injured players will be ready, you know who the players are. Four of them who missed the Zambian game will return, one of them had family problem, he will come back. There will be some changes and perhaps the local players will be handicapped because they will be on holidays and will find it difficult to have a rhythm. They don't train and they don't play at this period. It will be difficult for local players, but we shall see if we can organise something, may be a training for them to remain in shape. I don't know if I will open camp for them, but it will be pretty difficult for them to meet up now that they are on break.

Does that mean that the overseas-based players who do not play regular football in their respective clubs will not be invited?

It is good for players to play regular football in their respective clubs to keep in shape and have rhythm. The home-based might come to camp first for us to see how they cope before those abroad join. But I might have a few exceptions in inviting players who don't play regularly for their clubs. So I will need players who play every week for their clubs.

That is why Musa Mohammed who had not played even one minute football since after the Tanzania game was benched because he could not measure up and Mikel also has not played for Chelsea trained well and he gave me a good 90 minutes in Zambia. He did well, so he might return for Algeria on November 12. But they must all go and play games in their clubs. I have told them to go and fight for places in their respective clubs.

How will you monitor these players? Will you visit them in Europe?

Of course, we will go to see the players in their clubs, either me or my scouts. So we know who is playing and those who are not playing. The fittest players who prove themselves in their clubs will get invited.

What is your impression of Carl Ikeme's performance against Zambia in Ndola and so far under you as Nigeria coach?

I've known him before now. I have seen him in his club, Wolverhampton Wanderers a second division side in England. I like his approach to the game, his concentration, calmness, attitude to training and games. He is a good goalkeeper and I must commend him for his saves in Ndola. Carl kept us in the game by pulling at least three great saves. He was the man of the match against Zambia. Great guy.

With Carl's performance in goal, do the Super Eagles still need Vincent Enyeama?

Yes, I said it that I wanted Vincent Enyeama to return from retirement and I called him and we spoke with him. He will come back if we qualify for the World Cup. We need very good goalkeepers in the Eagles. We have two local goalkeepers whom I don't know if they will fit in if Carl sustains an injury, so I think we need two big goalkeepers. Of course for this moment, Carl is number one. We cannot change him, he will be number one for the next game.

Is the Super Eagles defence the weak link of your team?

Everybody knew before I arrived here that we need to build a new defence, and unfortunately there were injuries and we had to do two changes in that area of the team. In the game against Tanzania, we had a good defence; we did not concede a goal, they prevented them from scoring.

Leon Balogun got injured playing for his club and Mohammed Musa did not play at all for his club and that was why we made a change and brought in another player. Now we will watch some positions, we will watch what happen at right-back and left-back. We have a strong central defence, so no problem. We shall try and see if the same players will do well in their clubs to come back or we look for new ones.

Ahmed Musa came in as a late substitute in Zambia. Was it your strategy or he was not fit?

Ahmed Musa has not played for Leicester in their last few matches and so we had to watch his sharpness and decided to bring him in the last 20 minutes when Moses Simon was getting tired. That was what we did and he brought in a lot of speed and motivation. He also had one good shot at goal. I hope he will start playing again in Leicester because when he plays there, he can be able to start the next game for us.

Are Iwobi, Iheanacho and Mikel the most important players of your team?

Of course, you have seen what happened. They have scored, they played well, they are young players. I mean Kelechi and Iwobi are very young players who are driven by an experienced player in Mikel.

Our kind of playing is good football, the passing game. Technical football, not so many touches, we like to play directly, collectively bringing in the wings and the full-backs coming forward. They played accordingly in Ndola and I appreciated them very much. We shall try and get better with our style. It is too early to say if I would build the team around these three players.

You have bonded well with your players and home officials. But were you aware that one of the local coaches has yet to get a contract?

We have a strong bond as a team and we work hard to get results. We relate as a family, we try to be friends with the players and officials, and we respect each other. The assistants I brought in know we have to work closely with the Nigerian officials, likewise the other coaches, medical team, coordinator, media man and equipment manager. We did not come here to lecture but to help them grow and get the results for our team. We are one ‎happy family, I am satisfied with the co-operation I am getting from everyone.

On the contract of the Nigerian coach, I want to tell you that the federation president and I went to some places on Tuesday and what I got was positive. I have been assured that in the next few days Salisu Yusuf will sign his contract as chief coach of the Eagles and he would be paid his wages like us. The federation and the minister now have a strong solidarity and this is good for the team to succeed.

My joy now is that the minister and the federation are now working together for good and we need their solidarity to be able to go to the World Cup in Russia. A big country like Nigeria need all the political will and government's strong support to succeed because the talents are there to go to any length.

Can you confirm that the NFF has paid the Super Eagles bonuses and allowances?

Yes, the federation has paid the bonuses for the Tanzania game, including other allowances, as well as other outstandingly dues to the players and officials. They have also assured us that the bonus for the away victory against Zambia will be paid before the next game. We are okay with the federation and we appreciate the efforts of the president.

Do you feel disappointed that Nigeria will not be at the 2017 AFCON in Gabon?

I feel bad but the Super Eagles have been eliminated and there is nothing I can do about it but to focus on the World Cup. We have forgotten about it, but we have the possibility to watch Algeria and Cameroon to know what they do and how they play. We shall also use the period of AFCON to see other players, those we have not seen. You cannot use two games to see everybody. We must always be positive in every negative because in each negative there is the positive side.

After next month's game, the Super Eagles' next match will be in August 2017. What will the team be doing before then?

We look at the FIFA window and try to exploit it to play as many friendly games as possible. We talk to some notable countries in and outside Africa to prepare the Eagles. March and June give us the opportunity that will see the Eagles in action during the FIFA windows.

Your final word to Nigerians….

I want to say a big thank you to Nigerians, especially the Uyo fans, for the warm welcome and support they gave me in the game against Tanzania. I am happy to be working in Nigeria now and I feel like I am already a Nigerian. I hope that when we go back to Uyo, the pitch will be better than the last time and we need the supporters to be the 12th man to beat Algeria. We have to have our people behind us for 90 minutes of the game. We have to cheer our players whether good or bad and make things difficult for the Algerians

This is a fantastic interview. I'm keen about who he brings in for the LB and RB position. He looks to be a fair man who is all about merit. A far cry from what we've had in the past. I hope we give him time even when the results don't come.

I wished he was asked about the nationalization of foreign-born talents that can fit into the weak defense roles. Our journalists can be so lazy sha. There are many more questions to squeeze in.

MY ADVICE TO A CHRISTIAN

One of my Christian friends asked me (facetiously, I think) "If l should abandon my God today, what would you recommend for me?"

Here is my advice.

I advise you not to--you are not ready yet. When you are ready, you won't need to ask for advice. When you are ready, the lack of evidence for invisible beings will be SO obvious that you will kick yourself for days that you were ever taken in by such nonsense. You don't need to abandon an illusion--you need to acknowledge it.

You will see everything with a new and fresher perspective. For example, you will see that people invent Gods (and invent even more religions) and the fact that everyone fights to defend their family god is significant. They don't do that because they KNOW their family god is real but because they have been taught to BELIEVE their family god is real. And defending their god is defending their family and their culture.

When you think about how to treat your fellow humans, you won't wonder what a book written by people with backward Iron Age morals says, you will think about the consequences of your actions and how they affect the wellbeing of other sentient beings. You won't hope attacking or denying rights to a gay person will get you brownie points in an afterlife, rather you will know you should be helping and loving people, not attacking them.

When you abandon your God-belief, the world will become ever so slightly a nicer place. But don't do it until you're ready.

i disagree with your last sentence. I will start Enyeama any day any time, why? It's not just about the shot-stopping abilities, rather the way he coordniates the defence. Ikeme was not instructing anybody at all, that was why most times our full backs were unaware, as a GK you shout at your defenders, make them aware of the opposing players presence and I would fancy Enyeama to even keep out that goal they scored sef, so Enyeama anyday of the week abeg. Not to mention that he is our captain afterall.
Carl Ikeme coordinates the defence well. He might not be a fire-brand shouter like Buffon, but he is effective at what he does. In defence he has the demeanor of Hugo Lloris, Bravo and Ter Stegen. These ones don't shout ferociously like Enyeama but still organize their defenses well.

Sometimes, shouting at defenders needlessly is counterproductive. For young defenders, you create panic in them and thus make them lose concentration. Who else noticed how that used to make Yobo, a veteran, jittery?

Also, Enyeama has conceded worse goals than what Ikeme conceded yesterday. May be you should watch the three goals Enyeama conceded before the International break against Saint-Étienne. Before winning against Nancy, Lille lost 4 games in a row, with Enyeama conceding 10 goals. Even as a great goal-keeper, he is not perfect.

Ikeme is a very capable goalkeeper. I have no complaints.

NOT 'IF' BUT 'WHEN'

Religions survive by teaching young children silly stories as truths, by distorting reason and by restricting access to contrary ideas.

Now, most young people can access the internet where it is hard to avoid contrary ideas and where they will meet non-believers who are moral, intelligent, well-read and fiercely logical.

Superstition and lies cannot compete.

Now, it is not a question of IF religions will die; it is only a question of how quickly.

Not Igiebor, Rohr List Players Who Are Keeping Ogu Out Of Super Eagles

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/image-26.jpg

Head coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has corrected impressions in the media that Nosa Igiebor is keeping inform Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu out of the team.

Rohr also clarified what he meant when he said he has players in his team who are better than the Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfield anchorman in his team.

” The issue has been blown out of proportion, we presently have players who can play more than one role for the team in his position” He told Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent.

” We have Wilfred Ndidi who can play in more than three roles, there’s Shehu Abdullahi as well who can play two roles. Ogenyi Onazi is in the team as well.

” If we listen to the media, we will call almost everybody involved in football to the national team. We have our own ways of calling players to the team and good players will always be called up in due time”.

Why Genk Star Ndidi Got The Nod To Start Against Zambia, Rohr Explains

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/image-27-750x350.jpg

The decision to start Wilfred Ndidi ahead of Musa Mohammed has generated debates in Nigeria especially as he was preferred ahead of Shehu Abdullahi who has also played as a right back for the Eagles.

Ndidi who is predominantly a central defender during his days with the various arms of Nigeria Youth teams, the Under-17 and 20s precisely have been converted to a defensive midfielder by his Belgian side.

Playing him as a right full back in an important game like the World Cup qualifiers between Nigeria and Zambia caused a lot of concerns for football loving Nigerians.

However shortly after the 2-1 victory we gathered that, Rohr went for Ndidi ahead of Musa and Shehu due to his marking abilities as opposed to the attack minded duo who have played in the position in the past.

Nigeria needed to keep things tight at the back and, Rohr noticed Ndidi marks better and doesn’t give out fouls around the edge of the box than most defenders in the team.

Aside that his aerial abilities in defending set piece in training won Rohr over, as the manager drilled his defenders on how to defend set piece from which they expect Zambia to threaten prior to the game.

HOW NIGERIA'S SUPER EAGLES RATE VS ZAMBIA

https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/10/mikelteamjoy.jpg

Individual ratings of Nigeria against Zambia in Ndola today.

8 – Carl Ikeme Man of the Match

Man of the match for Nigeria who made at least four big saves to ensure the Super Eagles record their first-ever win in Zambia. He can be counted on.

6 – Wilfred Ndidi

Played in an unfamiliar right-back and he acquitted himself bar a second-half mistake, which almost allowed Zambia to come back into the game. His long throw-in was poorly headed out for Iwobi to smash home for the first goal.

6 – Elderson Echiejile

Solid showing by the leftback who kept his nerves and let his experience tell in this physical contest.

6 – Kenneth Omeruo

The Chelsea loanee’s mistake led to Zambia’s goal otherwise he was uncompromising in the heart of the Nigeria back four.

7 – William Troost-Ekong

Yet another solid display in the middle of the defence. He has continued to grow in confidence in a Nigeria shirt after making his Eagles debut only last year.

6 - Ogenyi Onazi

He worked hard again to ensure the Eagles defence kept their shape for most of this encounter, particularly late in the game as Zambia went for broke.

6 – Mikel Obi

The skipper did not look match rusty even though he has yet to play for Chelsea in a competitive game this season. He was denied a goal by the Zambia goalkeeper in the second goal. His timely tackle right inside the box in the first half caught the eye.

6 – Alex Iwobi

The Arsenal forward took his goal well to set the tone for a famous victory on the road. He had good understanding with Iheanacho upfront. But his overall contribution in the game was not as remarkable. Probably the tough conditions in Zambia – heat and a poor pitch – affected him more than most of the other players.

6 – Kelechi Iheanacho

He has now scored in Nigeria’s last four games – versus Mali, Luxembourg in friendlies in May as well as last month’s AFCON qualifier against Tanzania and today’s game. He is gradually becoming the leading scorer of the Super Eagles

6 – Moses Simon

His sharpness and endeavour must be the reason he benched Leicester City star Ahmed Musa in this game. He had a chance to get on the scoresheet in the first half after dashed into the box following another defensive slip by the Zambians.

7 – Brown Ideye

The Olympiacos striker may not have scored, but he was full of running and assisted for the second goal when hos clever flick put Iheanacho through on goal. He worked hard for the team

4 - Anderson Esiti

The defensive midfielder struggled to get into the game when he was brought in to add more bodies in the midfield as coach Gernot Rohr tried to defend his team’s 2-1 lead. He certainly had not recovered from a fever, which had initially ruled him out of this match.

Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi were late subs and did not clock enough time to be rated.
