No offense but there's no way you'll talk to someone well versed in literature and they'd agree with you that Frankenstein by Mary Shelley isn't horror. That falls on Gothic horror.

Funny thing is Gothic horror which is Frankenstein, Dracula, Werewolves and co are way older than even the slasher films you just mentioned. These films— the Slashers you mentioned were mostly established in the 80s while Gothic horror in film has been well established since the 1910s-1930s.

So you see Gothic horror which the Wednesday TV show/movies are based on vs Slashers no be mates at all. Slashers in fact are the relatively new subgenre adapting modern times.

It doesn't matter how you feel about it, it's just the way things are. Read up on the history of horror and you'll realise these films you just classified as the face of horror are in fact a new breed of horror not even the original thing.

Slashers are the reason I hated horror films for a while, while growing up. I mostly categorise them with little substance but blood and gore just for shock and awe value for audiences. Cos if you place most of these films under the microscope, their storylines and execution barely really make sense.

That's one of the reason horror genre barely gets recognition at the various awards body and the Academy. Not until the coming of The Exorcist, Silence of The Lambs etc.

So, according to you, Zombie The Flesh Eater and Evil Dead, fall under slasher genre, right?

Some projects are not meant to scare you one bit. Go and watch The Lightroom and come back later. It's horror but it's the psychological one. You might even get bored to sleep if you didn't know what you're expecting.

People often mistake thriller for horror.

I grew up knowing anything that has to do with horror, usually involve jump scare scenes, alot of suspense, and of course massive screaming. Movies like Friday The 13, Nightmare on Elm Street, Zombie The Flesh Eater, Halloween, and best of all, Evil Dead are all horror movies. Forget all this sub genre you're saying. It's just modernizing the whole thing.

That's the way I see.
