tomakint: Let the awareness start right in the camp of the enemies (AbdulFatah Ahmed and Bukola Saraki belong to the G7 marauders) I am expecting Jonathan's posters to flood Niger, Sokoto, Kano, Jigawa, Adamawa and Rivers States for these saboteurs who called themselves governors (of these states) to believe the manliness of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan!
Even if his posters flood everywhere in the aforementioned states, if he doesn't have massive support from there, he can't win

ILORIN—The 2015 Campaign posters of President Goodluck Jonathan’s presidential ambition, yesterday, flooded strategic spots in Ilorin Central Eid praying ground, Kwara State.

The poster was sponsored by a group, Foundation for Empowerment and Uniting of Nigerian Youths.

Some of the posters were seen on walls along New Yidi Road, in Ilorin.

The messages on the posters reads: “Let the Good Work Continue”, “In Culture, in architecture and for the future, you are the best. Support Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for continuity. He has done it. He is doing. He has also promised to do more despite challenges.”

Meanwhile, the Senator representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly, Dr. Bukola Saraki, the state Governor, AbdulFatah Ahmed and the Emir of IIorin, Alhaji Ibrahim sulu-Gambari, were among thousands of Muslim worshippers at IIorin Eid praying ground.

The two rakats superogatory prayers to mark the day were led by the Imam of IIoin, Alhaji Muhammed Bashir.

The short prayer was followed by slaughtering of rams by the Chief Imam to pave the way for other Muslims to do same.

In his sermon, the Chief Imam, Alhaji Muhammad Bashir, urged Nigerians to refrain from acts capable of disintegrating the country.

He urged politicians to always allow the wellbeing of their followers be paramount in their minds.

He said politicians should always work towards ensuring the indivisible entity of the country.

The Emir of IIorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, in his Sallah message urged Nigerians to eschew tendencies that could cause disunity of the nation.

The monarch urged Nigerian Muslims to use the occasion for sober reflection.

The monarch called for more prayers from Nigerians to get rid of the security and other challenges facing the nation.

Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed, after the Eid prayer, paid Sallah homage to the Emir of IIorin at his palace where a mini-durbar was organised for him.

Among the governor’s entourage to the Emir’s Palace were the state deputy governor, Mr. Peter Kisira, the Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherland, Mrs Nimata Akanbi, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Rasaq Atunwa, among others.

Politics › APC On Rescue Mission In Anambra – Ngige by joshbam(op): 11:48pm On Oct 15, 2013
Sen. Chris Ngige said in Awka on Tuesday that the All Progressive Congress (APC) was in the state on a rescue mission.

Ngige, who is the party’s flag bearer in the Nov. 16 governorship election, made the declaration while inaugurating 16 sub-committees for his campaign.

The sub-committees are expected to work in collaboration with the national and state campaign committees which were earlier inaugurated to actualise the governorship ambition.

He named Chief George Muoghalu as the Director-General of the Ngige Campaign Organisation and charged him to ensure his victory.

Ngige said that if elected as governor, his administration would ensure the security of lives and property in the state.

“Victory for APC on Nov. 16 will bring a lot for the state. It will give Anambra people the security of their lives and property.

“We want to release our people from economic and political bondage, security, unemployment, high school fees and god-fatherism.

“The party will build the Onitsha to Enugu expressway and conduct local government elections within six months.

“Other parties are playing politics of religion and tribe because they have nothing to offer the people of the state,’’ he said.

Ngige urged members of the sub-committees to consider themselves as soldiers for the people of Anambra, saying that their assignment was to liberate the state by ensuring victory for the party. (NAN)

Politics › Salami Bows Out Today by joshbam(op): 11:15am On Oct 15, 2013
As the suspended President of the Court of Appeal (PCA), Justice Isa Salami retires today from the appellate court, the Acting President of the Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa may continue in acting capacity as the president of the court, a source confided in LEADERSHIP last night.

LEADERSHIP also gathered yesterday that the National Judicial Council (NJC) is yet to decide on who the substantive President of the court will be.

It was also gathered that the most senior judge in the appellate court is not likely to be considered for the job because of alleged certain issues that concern his career at the court.

The source further said that the acting President will continue in office for the next two months when her tenure as acting president will expire before a substantive PCAwill be appointed.

Justice Bulkachuwa’s appointment as the acting president of the court was renewed about a month ago.

The source further told our correspondent yesterday that, “No name has been pencilled down to replace justice Salami as he bows out from the court tomorrow (today). As you know, the tenure of the acting President of the court was just renewed about a month ago.

“ I am sure in the next two months, you will know if the appointment of present acting president will be confirmed as the substantive president or not. All I can tell you for now is that the court is headed by an acting president”.

Justice Salami, who is retiring today as the president of the court was suspended by the NJC in 2011 under the chairmanship of a former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu.

Before his suspension, he had alleged that Justice Katsina-Alu wanted him to compromise in Sokoto State governorship tussle.

In the history of the judiciary in Nigeria, this is the first time a sitting president of the Court of Appeal will be suspended.

Shortly after he was suspended, Justice Salami dragged the NJC, Justice Katsina-Alu and other before Justice Gabriel Kolawole of a federal high court in Abuja to challenge his suspension.

LEADERSHIP also gathered yesterday that until the court case he filed is dispensed with, he may not be able to receive his entitlement as a retired president of the court.

At a recent book lunch in his honour in Ilorin, Justice Salami said he had no regret for his action during his tenure as the president of the court.

He had said, “You are all aware of the call log issue, none of them, not a single one showed that I ever called Tinubu, Lai Mohammed the ACN chieftains they were referring to.

“We went to the tribunal with witnesses (experts) who were able to show the NJC that you could use my phone in my pocket to call somebody. The experts demonstrated it at NJC. You could use my phone which in my pocket to send text messages to another person.

“All these call logs were fake, but we thank God we survived all the efforts to paint us black. A question was asked and I said Kastina-Alu called to ask me to dismiss Sokoto Appeal and he said no he didn’t call for that; that he called to say that the judgment had leaked. He testified before the NJC and I did my own.

“The chairman of the panel said that the information about leakage was derived from the petition written against me. There was nothing of such in the petition against me. There was not to say against my defence. Is it not in the absence of any evidence to the contrary they should accept my own. They never did that they said my own was unfounded. Did I go there for a tea party? So we just leave everything to God Almighty who is the final arbiter. I assure you all that in spite of what happened I am a very happy man. I have not for a moment, regretted what I did. I am very happy for what I did and I proud of what I did. I thank God Almighty.”

Politics › Crashes: FG To Audit Domestic Airlines by joshbam(op): 7:58am On Oct 15, 2013
https://edge.punchng.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Minister-of-Aviation-Ms-Stella-Oduah-360x225.jpgMinister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah

The Federal Government has announced plans to audit all indigenous airlines operating in the country.

This is coming on the heels of various mishaps that had occurred in the Nigerian aviation industry within the last few weeks.

The Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Fola Akinkuotu, announced this during a press briefing to throw more light on the incident involving IRS Airline at the NCAA headquarters in Lagos on Monday.

He said, “We are going to audit all the indigenous airlines, we have a continous process of auditing airlines. As a matter of fact, we are going to do a joint audit on all the airlines working with foriegn audit firms to ensure that there is a complete validation of all the airlines.

“This is done to reassure the public of the safety of our airspace and to also continue the oversight functions of the NCAA. We intend to put in place regulations that would require all our airlines to have an International Air Transport Association Operational Safety audit. Many years ago, it was voluntary but this time we will make it compulsory. Airlines would be required to have this as a way of going forward and ensuring that their systems are tidy.”

Explaining the IRS incident, he said, “For the purpose of reinforcement, we wish to restate that the affected F100 aircraft operated by IRS landed safely at the Kaduna Airport, following a hydraulic alert in the cockpit while on final approach to the airport.”

He stressed that the NCAA would continue to interact with operators on what they needed to do. Akinkuotu added that the preliminary report from the Accident Investigation and Prevention Bureau brought to the fore some of the issues that the agency might consider.

“We have been calling on operators to abide by the laws, and we will continue to do so, because these operators also have responsibilities to fulfill to ensure that they continue to abide by the laws in ensuring total safety of passengers.”

Already, the licence of Dana Airlines had been suspended by the NCAA on October 6, 2013.
The NCAA said it took the action as a result of an operational audit which it intended to carry out on the airline.

On the issue of the workers of some airlines not being paid their salaries, Akinkuotu said the issue was currently being addressed by the authority.

“If we have any airline that we know is not paying salaries, we will stop them,” he said.

He said that the agency would not encourage any airline that was not financially sound to operate.

The Chairman IRS, Alhaji Ishaku Rabiu, commended the Federal Government and NCAA on the regulation of the activities of airline operators to make the industry better.

He said that operators would not willingly kill people in the process of making money.

“It is important to know that we have been in this business for 12 years and have had no accident,” he said.
