It was a gory sight to behold in my area today, as a youth was shot dead, while others are in critical condition in the hospital, when security personnel escorting a bullion van clashed with protesting youths in Umuagwo, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.

The incident happened at exactly 12 minutes pass 10 in the morning.

According to report, the angry youths resorted to protest to quell the incessant extortion by security personnel in the area, before a cavalcade of patrol vehicle escorting a bullion van, ran into them.

The report had it that the presence of the security personnel erupted a quarrel, which prompted the security men to start shooting sporadically, hence a stray bullet struck a youth who later gave up the ghost. Currently, many are in hospitals receiving treatment, as their are fears that we might announce another death.

The youths had many placards, with most of the inscription calling on the government to look into the excessive extortion by the security personnels posted in their area.
