kanor: @Poster, if they promised to refund you why not contact them directly and get the refund? instead of coming here to post bad comments. It is up to 30 days? Some organizations have internal procedures/timing for initiating a refund.

There are guys here asking people to go to physical shop to buy- seems we still have some guys living/thinking lagged 50 yrs!

30 days internal procedures/timing even after they (Jumia)have fail to delivery to the customer base on their promise and email of refund of 3-5 days. embarassed undecided

Vanessy: JUMIA ARE the No 1 Online thieves we Have in this Country. They are ripping Nigerians off Big time. Do you know
that most of the items they Claim to sell, they dont have them in stock. Their products are so expensive and substandard.
And their poor delivery services and customer relationship.

Can u imagine, They dont have a physical store or shop where people could come see for themselves what they sell
If u ask them on their facebook page where their shop or physical store is, they would tell u that they dont have physical shop,
that u simply order and get it deliver to your doorstep. Is that not a Scam?

@ the poster, you are not the only one they have done this to, we have so Ngerians with so many complaints about their
Fraudulent activities.

Sister, not having a physical store does not make them scam, its a business model that has been use and proven to work. Amazon business model is base on this also and we all can agree that Amazon is a success and they keep to what they advertise unlike this fraudsters called

newken: You have to be patient. Your money will be refunded. It happens to me all the time as i am a regular buyer online. Refund takes 5 to 3 weeks sometimes. It is the responsibility of the financial institutions to perfect the refund, not the selling party. Dont damage the reputation of that company. Be patient. You should at least wait a month before calling them 'FRAUD'.

You sound unreasonable with your comment, that the OP should wait for at-least a month for a refund, you are definitely a bad PR representative. How those refund become the responsibility of the financial institution, when the process of refund start with Jumia by initializing a refund request from their E-payment channel portal.

mjay: I ordered and paid for a Tablet from Jumia for (N26,923) on the 11th March. I only paid after calling them to confirm the availability and was told it was available, I went on to pay online.

To my shock they called me three days later to inform me that the product is not available and that I should order for something else to which I declined. I asked for a refund and was told the refund will take between 1 - 5 days, it has been more than 8days now and I have been calling them on daily basis to which they keep telling me that it is under process, this to me is kind of FRAUDULENT.

It is an online payment, my experience has always been when online payment for service is unavailable, the fund is sent back to the originating account once all confirmations have been made. I have sent all confirmations, the money is supposed to be returned to the account from which I paid initially. Till Now I am still waiting.

My diliema now is how to retrieve my money, and to also warn unsuspecting customers never to pay before they take delivery of the goods for JUMIA.

Is there anyone in the house that had previously fallen victim of refund? How and when did you get back your money?

JUMIA is not a reliable eCommerce company, I have similar experience with them. I order a webcam and paid N13400 online since February 27, 2013 only for them to call me three days later that the webcam is not in stocks, they i should order a new product and pay the extra. I told them to cancel the order and refund me. Ever since then, it has been one story from the other and up to this moment i have not hear from them.

My Solutions: I have to call my bank yesterday lodge in a complain about the transaction and my bank has assure me of speed resolutions "Refund" before friday.

naijaguy77: ECA - Excess Crude Account

The ECA was conceived by the OBJ regime as a savings account to put money away for a "rainy day". Since we base our budget on price of oil, if we say we budget $65 per barrel at 2m barrels per day, during the year, we may be fortunate and oil might actually trade at $100 per barrel and we might succeed in producing an average of 2.3m barrels per day. The excess money we earn would then go into the ECA. This was fantastic public funds management by OBJ, especially because oil prices fluctuate a lot, and sometimes we earn less than we anticipated, the funds in the ECA would the be our saviour on such a rainy day.

This was all going well, but there was one problem. The greedy governors realised the the ECA, though a good for the country, was actually unconstitutional, therefore illegal. The governors (including Fashola) threatened sue the FG if all the money was not immediately "shared".

This puts the FG in a very difficult position, as the FG knows that it is sound economic policy and prudent management to save for a rainy day. Everytime the ECA funds build up to any significant amount, the governors would come and insist on sharing the money or else they will go to court.

This is the genesis of the ECA depletion. The governors want the money shared even when it is not a "rainy day". And members of the national assembly also insist on sharing the money, usually insisting that Nigeria has many problems and do not need to save money that can be used to "solve our problems". Essentially, every arm of government bar the executive arm of FG is against savings.

After much bickering, the FG through NOI conceived of the Soverign Wealth Fund, which would be backed by law, as a compromise and a way to ensure that some money is put away for emergency. Even at this, the legislature and govs made sure the cut the FG down and insist on a meagre $1 billion for the SWF.

So, is it right to accuse the FG of squandering the money in ECA? Well, yes the FG also got their share of the money, but it is wrong to blame it on the FG, as all the state governors unite in this matter, and their position is always, we must "share" (spend) the money.

Again, it is wrong for Madam Ezekwesili to insinuate that the FG is responsible for this squandering. The entire nation, and all parties - PDP, APC, ACN, Anpp, etc is responsible.

The truth is, the Federal Government of Nigeria is made up of very inept and unsound people, who are almost always up to no good, such that even when someone like Madam Ezekwesili makes an unsound accusation, instead of the FG to take her on and expose her as unsound, their first instinct is to run and hide, or to respond with even more unsound rhetoric. Shameful really, considering that Madam Ezekwesili can be taken apart in 2 minutes. Shame on FG.

OP, You write so well but with a lot of bias, so for me, you can best be called "an intelligent mugu" grin grin

taharqa: NO. Plz read tru d article again. The ECA is a SUBSET of Foreign Reserves. She admittd that much in dis article. If we say that today that the Reserves is $48bn, we also mean that that is INCLUSIVE of almost $11bn in d ECA- you dont add d $11bn to $48bn and say d Reserves is $59bn. This was exactly d point sm of us hv bn trying to get across to FRUSTRATED 'SUBHUMANS' like @Demdem.... There was NEVER $67bn Reserves at any time. OBJ left a little above $45bn (ECA inclusives)

You want manufacture your own fact abi... She said $45b Foreign Reserve and $22b ECA total $67B.

“He knows that they are distorting the point of my article by using their ‘straw number’ of $67b which I did not use in my speech. My speech stated $45b Foreign Reserve and $22b ECA and he more than anyone knows that Excess Crude Account is a sub-set of Foreign Reserve!”

Politics / 3 Arrested Over Patience’s Stolen Properties by jt2010: 8:56am On Mar 08, 2013
Following the stunning revelation by wife of the President, Dame Patience Jonathan, penultimate Sunday, that some of her belongings were sold off upon rumours of her death, security operatives are said to be probing the incident and may have narrowed down their investigations to three suspects.

The First Lady had said that some of her close associates sold her belongings while she was on sick bed in a German hospital believing she would not return to the country alive.

A highly reliable source in Abuja disclosed to National Mirror that two choice properties belonging to the wife of the President had been recovered from the buyers.

The properties are believed to be held in trust for the First Lady.

Mrs. Jonathan had on Sunday, February 17, during a thanksgiving service at the Aso Villa Chapel revealed that while she was undergoing surgeries and passed out for seven days, those close to her sold off some of her belongings with the hope she would not come back to life.

Her words: “I am not Lazarus but my experience was similar to his. My doctors said all hope was lost. A black doctor who is with us in this service was flown in from London when the situation became critical.

It was God himself in His infinite mercy that said I will return to Nigeria. God woke me up after seven days.

“I know that some people somehow leaked the information that I was dead. They are people that I trust and rely on. To them, I was dead and I would never return to the country alive. Some of them even sold off my things.

“I won’t say everything here. It is the Lord’s doing that I returned alive.” Impeccable source close to the seat of power, however, told National Mirror that a prominent businesswoman, an aide of the First Lady and a top government functionary had been quizzed for their alleged involvement in the sale of the properties.

It was also learnt that the international passports of the three suspects had been seized by security operatives.

“Even before the President’s wife made it public that her properties were sold off by her friends, security agencies had been briefed about the development.

“After painstaking investigation by a team of detectives, three people were picked as the masterminds of the sale of the properties. “They have been interrogated and to forestall a situation where they will flee the country, their international passports have been seized.

“I am also aware that security operatives have also recovered the First Lady’s properties sold out by the suspects,” the source told National Mirror.

It was further learnt that the properties, valued at several millions of naira, were located in Abuja and Lagos.

The source said that the businesswoman, who is believed to be very close to Mrs. Jonathan, might have facilitated the sale of one of the properties while the presidential aide and top government functionary perfected the documentation of the illegal transaction.

As at the time of going to the press, it was not clear whether the three suspects have refunded all the proceeds from the sale.

The source added that the suspects might be charged to court after the investigation had been concluded.

Oh dearie me. You must think you're addressing one of your semi-literate beer parlour friends. ''Even in the heat of war Hollande visited Mali''. Is Mali not an entire country? Where in Mali did Hollande visit? You can bet there was no fighting there. Gowon visited Calabar? Why didn't he visit Enugu or Onitsha in the heat of battle? Bush visited Iraq. Is Iraq not an entire country? Where in Iraq did Bush visit? You can bet there was no fighting there at the time. Blair visited Iraq. Is Iraq not a country? Blair could have visited anywhere in Iraq, even a remote village outside the scene of conflict. So you see, your examples of ''the bravery of other leaders'' are FRAUDULENT and do not apply to President Jonathan whom you are demanding visits a specific town - Maiduguri ''in the heat of battle''. Did Blair or Bush visit Baghdad or Kabul in the heat of battle?

Vavavoom:

I t doesn't take talent to grow up neither foresight. My question to you is: why wait till execution of tour to tag the program ''ill-conceived''? Surely a man of Fashola's standing should have asked from the inception when the hawks gathered what format the tour was to take before shifting the goal post and drawing cold feet at during execution. To me it says much about them than the ruling pdp...unfortunately we all possess HINDSIGHT what is lacking is FORESIGHT. PDP, ACN are one and the same to me, the only difference is one party is controlling the cash flow. In the manner of their discourse a sound mind would easily decipher that changing one for another will produce no different result. In a country where most people, the electorate can hardly differentiate between state and federal projects undecided the joke certainly won't be on the executors of such projects, sadly. More sadly is ACN failing to be different. What stops the ACN from doing their home work? Massive enlightenment about citizens' rights, project categorization - state or federal, opposition at the lowest of the grassroots is as important as figting to win the presidency! The councilors, mayors are closer to the people than the governors or president. Why not begin to educate people about alternative progressive governance via the grassroots? Teach, show your aspirants accountability to the people, importance of stewardship...this way we, the electorate can see and welcome you as a difference rather than a power seeker in a different garb.

You need to know how to draw the line between Practical and hypothesis. All claims that Fashola & other ACN Governors support the idea of the tour is base on the Communiqué issue by the NGF which has about 19 PDP governors, so taking a decision in such forum is base on vote in support and against, so if out of 36 members, 11 votes against and the remain 25 vote in support, the majority carry the day and the Communiqué will only reflex the outcome and not the deliberation, so expect any body can provide personal statement of each of those governors support the idea before now if not, they are on point.

Billyonaire: 2015 is still far. One wonders why serving Governors leave their jobs to gallivant around the county just in the name of launching a new Party. Is it now a job of Governors to campaign and publicize the APC ? I think something is wrong somewhere, a party is supposed to have a working committee that goes on publicity and not pulling the Governors from their jobs, it goes a long way to show how unorganized this APC is, I cant trust my one vote in the hands of these people. 100% of them decamped from other parties cos of selfish interests, so I cant deal with people who are not predictable. Changing Parties like boxers, means changing manifestos like pants, it therefore means they dont stand for something, so whoever doesnt stand for something can fall for anything ? Should I trust my country in the hands of a people who fall for anything....Whhhhoooooosaaaaii.....Mbanu! This country belongs to Nigerians and we will always know that we will vote for the best candidate without sentiments. No one with Boko Haram lineage and sympathy should be voted for, no one with questionable source of wealth should be voted for. Your vote, is your choice. Use it wisely.

Your statement shows that your hypocrisy no get part two. When Mr. President is going about some states to solicit for votes for some PDP Governor during some re-run elections in some states, ur billyonaire brain does not deem it fit to say Mr. President and his gang in government are unorganized or they should have leave the job for the PDP working committee abi... What Fashola means by ill-conceived is the idea of the Federal ministry of information going about all states and showcasing state projects as if they are part of the transformation agenda of Mr. President. 2 years visa is issued on necessity and not on sequences. So, unless if it is deemed necessary, it won't be appropriate for him to apply for a 2 years visa at this stage, long term visas are issued on the basis of necessity, for regular travellers who are constantly in need of visa renewal

Vic, I know the OP personally and apart from that, we both are issued our first time UK visa at the same time last year, while i have gone ahead to renew my to 2 years this January 2013, so me advising him is base on my personal knowledge of him which is similar to myself, that is why i said he should go for 2 years instead of renewing for another six month.
