Okay, I was at the embassy today. The interview took abt 10/15mins. Was basically asked similar questions in the application form. By next week I should get my passport and supporting documents returned from Abuja with their decision. Still can't comprehend why they had to call me for a face to face interview.

Madam, just relax your mind and start stocking the drinks for the celebration!!! grin grin
Politics / President Goodluck Jonathan Won’t Speak On Single-term Pact With PDP Governors by jt2010: 7:48pm On Feb 20, 2013
President Goodluck Jonathan has said he will not speak on whether he had a pact with governors of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to rule for only four years.

The President’s position was clarified in a statement in Abuja today by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe. The controversy was kicked off last Sunday by the Governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangia Aliyu.

“We wish to state categorically that this is neither the time nor the season to begin electioneering campaign or related discourse for the 2015 presidential elections and so President Goodluck Jonathan will not jump the gun,” Okupe said.

The governor had said that the President must honour a one-term agreement he made with the governors, and thus vacate office in 2015.
Okupe avoided commenting on whether such an agreement existed. Instead, he listed five programme areas he said constituted the focus of his principal.
“President Goodluck Jonathan will not for any reason abandon these laudable goals to engage in a distractive political debate with any individual or group of persons,” he said.

The full statement by Mr. Okupe:
PRESIDENT JONATHAN WILL NOT BE DISTRACTED FROM THE MISSION TO FIX NIGERIA
Our attention has been drawn to issues raised by some political leaders to the effect that President Goodluck Jonathan signed an agreement with some Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party prior to the Party’s presidential primaries in 2011.

From time immemorial, for every major event or contest in the world, there is always a time and a season apportioned.

We wish to state categorically that this is neither the time nor the season to begin electioneering campaign or related discourse for the 2015 presidential elections and so President Goodluck Jonathan will not jump the gun.

Mr. President will therefore stoutly resist any disguised or open attempt to drag him into any debates, arguments or political discussions relating to a presidential election in 2015.

The president considers this as an invidious attempt to sway him from his chosen pursuit of the set out constituents of the transformation agenda which form the basis upon which Nigerians overwhelmingly elected him to steer the ship of the Nation in 2011.

For the purpose of emphasis,The present focus of President Jonathan include:

1 Completion of ongoing projects in the power sector to ensure that Nigerians enjoy steady power supply for domestic and industrial purposes.

2 Ensuring remarkable Improvement of infrastructure in Road, rail and air transportation in every part of Nigeria through speedy completion of major ongoing road projects, construction and rehabilitation of rail lines as well as rehabilitation and modernization of our airports.
3 Working towards providing Nigerian children and youths with good and functional education at all levels.

4 Ensuring that Nigerians have greater access to improved and affordable health care facilities

4 Transform our Nations agricultural sector to guarantee food sufficiency, create wealth for Nigerians and become a net exporter of food and agro based raw materials within a very short time

5 Create new jobs for our youths through a systematic implementation of sound economic and fiscal policies and entrepreneurial development programmes.

6 Reform our oil and gas sector to increase efficiency, guarantee value for money and ensure greater local content participation in the industry.
President Goodluck Jonathan will not for any reason abandon these laudable goals to engage in a distractive political debate with any individual or group of persons.

However, we will not hold it against anyone who wishes to pursue such agenda because Nigeria is a free country and will continue to be so under this president.

For now, this is our position on this matter and we assure Nigerians of Mr. Presidents resolve to continue to devote his energy to a successful implementation of the transformation agenda, fix Nigeria and thereby justify the mandate freely given to him by the Nigerian people.

Thank You
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs

Vicjustice:
I do not totally agree with this-that a chance of getting a visa is high because an applicant had been called for interview. Know that the majority of people whose applications are approved are not called for interview: usually, interviews are considered if there are questionable issues with an application or if there are things that need explanations.
Most applicants are not deemed necessary to be interviewed before their visas are approved or refused.

Vicjustice, I cearly understand where you are coming from but my statement is base solely on the fact that to either approve or refuse a UK visa application does not mostly require an interview, so the Embassy demanding to interview the poster goes to shows that the Visa officer want to make some clarification about some vague issues in the poster application before either approving or refusing the application, which to me provided the poster some clear opportunity to logically explain such concern the Visa Officer may have about the application than just refuse the application without any opportunity to clearly explains such issues.

Since the poster is already in the middle of the application process, there is nothing for her to worry about as long as she did not make any bogus documents or claims in the application that she cannot defend. So she should just go through her documents again and articulate her thoughts with response to every part of the application.

Why are you misquoting me?

I never at any point in time said EMU or my cousin defrauded me. My cousin in question can easily pay for that. What I said was I'm sensing fraud or misinformation.

However, the case is still pending as I was forced by you guys to seek polite response from the school directly.

Until the school revolves the issue of which they have politely promised to do, I still have my opinion.

So, please...I do not wish to discuss this issue further until the school resolves it. And whichever way the resolution goes....I shall not apologize to anybody as the terms for doing so has been abused by certain individuals.

Read between the line, you said

This dude below seem to be having the same problem.

Apologies to Justwise for replying people who has multiple ids.

We are both saying the same thing dude, you said you are sensing fraud or misinformation and i asked who is the "anticipated fraudster" between EMU and your cousin". grin angry

babybird82: Hi guys,

I just got a call from the British high commission in Abuja requesting me to attend an interview tommorrow at the deputy high commission. Please can someone shed more light as regards what its all about? I was asked to come with just my collection slip.

Your chance of getting the visa is clearly high now, all you need to do now is go through your documents again and be ready to explain some vague issue that they may have about your application. Just be yourself at the interview and no need to be overly worry, just provide simple and coherent response to the interviewer questions and you be fine.

@ JT2010...Thanks for the suggestion, however, when hotel reservation is booked I understand you have 24 hrs to the proposed date to cancel,or else you may not be able to cancel any more, also if we extend my wife's n baby's return ticket by 2 weeks will it not come with additional cost.

Thank you.

Nawao!!! Try use one of your old ATM card that is not valid or no money inside the account to book the hotellipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed and note that you will need to pay to extend your wife ticket... As much as you did not state you have a family in uk during ur visa applications, you did not have much the option now to state otherwise unless you are ready to face the consequence which is cancellation of your visa and 10 years ban.... so your best option is to pay those additional cost that come with telling white lies grin tongue.... other Experts in the house like Justwise and V (others) please help out!!!

nawao: I really appreciate the swift responses... you guys are the bomb, imagine all this consultancies for free grin. Anyway, I am considering making a fresh hotel reservation for a day or two and will eventually stay for the days, after which we ill move to my in-lwas(wife relations)place. If ask at the POE while just a day or two days reservation when our return ticket is implying that we ill be around for 2 and 4 weeks respectively. I dont know if the explanation that we booked it for a short period and will renew if we like the place.

I really dont want any mistake to spoil this trip/fun I really need to give my family a treat. Whats your take please.

Thank you.

What I believe you need to do is book a hotel from wakanow.com website or the hotel itself.... do not pay!!! Book for like a week or 2 weeks and limited your wife return ticket to 2 weeks (same as your own ticket), then you can claim that is the hotel you will be staying at for the whole duration of your stay in uk. All you will need to pay to do later is to extend your wife and son tickets return ticket dates with the airline.

nawao: Goodday great people of Nairaland...

Please I have a UK Tour/visit visa for myself wife and 1 year old baby..We used hotel reservation to apply but got it cancelled after the visa was issued,we are actually staying in my wife's relations place(though not mentioned in our application cos of documentation palaver). I want to ask if the clearance officer in the UK will raise issues concerning our not having hotel reservation at the point of entry, because we stated that we ill be staying in a hotel during the visa application process?..

Also Can i stay for 2 weeks while my wife and baby stays over for 4 weeks before returning to Nigeria? if yes hope it will not affect our 2 years renewal.( Our Visas was granted in December to June 2013) This is our first visa as well.

I will appreciate great response as usual.

Make a new hotel reservation when you are travelling and using the address of the hotel as where you will be staying during your visit to UK and never at any time mention at the POE that you know any body in UK if you have not mentioned them in your visa application.

Concerning the duration of your visit, the days you stated are very well within the conditions of your visa, so you have no problem!!!

I plan seek admission from George Brown college for the following course " Information Systems Business Analyst Program (Postgraduate) or Wireless Networking Program (Postgraduate) ... Find link to the course: http://www.georgebrown.ca/T405-2013-2014/ or http://www.georgebrown.ca/T411-2013-2014/

My question to the expert in the house is:

Can the course allow me to seek CEC or PR after i complete the course?
What is the job prospect as it relates to the course!!!

Please help with your contribution.... before i consider seeking admission into the college.

babybird82: Hello Guy, thanks for all your help so far.
Filling my form and got confused with these 2 questions.

5.15: What money is available to you for your trip.
5.19: What is the cost to you personally of your stay in the UK.

Sponsor is Hubby and Myself.

Thanks.

5.15: What money is available to you for your trip. The answer is the sum total of your trip including flight ticket, accomodation, food, transportation and shopping etc
5.19: What is the cost to you personally of your stay in the UK. This literally mean that if you take out the cost that will be bear by your sponsors, what is the direct cost to you concerning the trip.

I will advise that you wait for the inputs of other senior members of the forum, as this question can make or break u if you did not intelligently answer the question as you are including your husband as a co-sponsor which i really don't have enough experience to handle. In my own case, am the sole sponsor of the trip, so my answer is same for both question.

steph7: have you ever used wakanow to book a ticket to the US or UK ? I am sure your answer is No. I have so I know what i am saying. This poster here is at fault too for not looking at the date. It is actually mandatory for wakanow or any other travel agency to check that the buyer of the ticket has the relevant travel documents before issuing a ticket. do your research properly and yes you scan all your documents and mail to them, you do not have to go to their office. Ask any one that has used wakanow for an international journey, I am not talking about Ghana oh!

You are wrong again with this assumption!!! angry grin I have directly make use of wakanow services for quite alot of trips to UK for myself and other friends and family member, even without my presence in Lagos, I constantly purchase ticket from them without showing or scanning any visa or travel documents to them!!! Please enlighten me further with evidence by way of link or website (even if na wakanow), where you get such information that a customer is required to provide its ticket agent scan copy of your visa for an international journey. Some agent may ask for a scan copy of your visa before issuing a flight ticket to avoid such problem as this, but its is not a requirement for now before purchasing of flight ticket!!!

I have one simple question for you, Am sure you are aware that you can purchase your flight ticket directly from some airlines, so in such case, whom do you send your document to or alternatively please provide us here the email address for qatar airline that you have use very email!!!

I didn't read the original post, and 2 you have obviously not used wakanow to buy a ticket before. wakanow is not supposed to issue you a ticket before your visa departure date. they always ask for your documents, by issuing a ticket before your visa departure date, they knew the OP will run into trouble. they wanted to chop and go.

You know little or nothing about what you just said now, wakanow is not required to see your visa before selling you a flight ticket!!! I can confidently tell you that the poster did not even know where wakanow office is located, he simply book the flight online and pay without asking question much question about his/her visa.
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by jt2010: 6:32pm On Jan 25, 2013
steph7: I used qatar to the UK and their services were excellent, however, the post that was quoted , I think the fault is from wakanow not qatar. Wakanow likes playing games for their intl flights . My suggestion is buy your ticket yourself from qatar's office at the airport and go along with all your documents

Your statement above is totally wrong, the OP said that is visa has a valid date of 21st January, which literary means that the poster can only travel with the said visa starting from 21st of January, so trying to travel with the visa before 21st is the poster wrong doing grin!!! So what is wakanow fault in that matter, abi does the poster have issue with the flight ticket sold to him by wakanow? Answer is NO? Wakanow act base on the information (DEparture date) provide by the poster, so if you think wakanow is at fault in this matter, what about the Nigeria immigration and the airline that screen and allow the poster to board before the poster oversight was discover in qatar!!!

deaquellota: Hello UKSA2013

1) I enterred the US at 37 weeks. I could not afford to stay too long and other places I called would not accept me after 5 months.
2) I enterred the US through NYC but i was told that going through houston is faster. At the time I did not know :-(
3) I did not have any problem but I did pay for my medical services ahead of time. The people at the clinic said that this procure is legal but the reason that they sometimes give you problems for delivery is because they might suspect you will not pay. So I decided to pay ahead of time so I would be able to prove that i would not leave the country without paying (this is why they they hassle some people). The clinic sent me proof of my payment.
4) The birth certificate took less than 5 weeks and the passport took another 2 weeks. This is another reason why I left at 37 weeks and this clinic was best for me.
5) in total i stay a little less than seven weeks. The service was very good for me because they already focus on international patients and understood me and made me feel comfortable. Although the majority of the patients were from Mexico, the doctor spoke English and were very friendly. The cost was the least expensive for the procedure and hotel.

I was very fearfull at the beginning but i after coming back everything went well. I am very thankfull that i was able to get all the information from this site. I will go back to the same clinic for my next baby.

What is the cost for normal birth plz?

@bbamega

I honestly have no idea about accountant and master of commerce. Truth is, Australia tries to hold onto what they can hold on to and give what they cant get from themselves. You don't need a degree to work in a bank here as an accountant. Many of the "accountants" here that do our Tax year for us were trained intensively for 1 month. The gardener where I work has a daughter that works in ANZ bank. The only qualification she has is her high school but she was trained for it and got the job.

What am I saying? since you don't need a degree or qualification to work in their banks or accounting offices, they would pick their own people to do the job for them and because their people don't like studying let alone tough courses like Engineering, Nursing, Medicine, mining, and all them tough science courses etc, they employ foreign workers to do the job for them. That is why I said earlier that, there are a lot of occupations in their skilled lists that do not guarantee Permanent residency but those tough ones could get you in. It's a 80%-20% chance.

I am not saying accountants can't get a job, all I am saying that many of them that work as "accountants" here have no top qualification.

Madam,

Can a Master in Information Technology guarantee Permanent residency?

mercylicious:

What u shld tell them is dt u want passport extension. I did mine feb this year and it didn't cost as much as 50k, its arnd 40k or 35k. Nt sure again. I did mine at Abuja. Heard its only abuja and Lagos dt do it in Naija. After d extension, they take ur passport and issue u another one, so u might want to reconsider if u already have travel history- visas and stamps on ur passport. It is nt sumtin dt can be done by proxy- u must be at immigration (abuja/lagos) for biometrics, so even if they collect 800K frm u at any other immigratn office apart frm d listed, they will send it to either abuja or Lag and will still tell u to go there for biometrics.

OP,

Abuja and Lagos is not the only place you can renew your passport, I did my in port this months and it cost only 17K, you will collect same day and it is only done on selected days "Wednesday and Friday".
