I'm still wondering to myself, how did Albert Einstein ever know gravitational wave was responsibly for gravity?
That guy is greater than God for having such a bright mind, Even God the owner of the said universe can not put checks and balances to such disastrous disaster like hurricane. I believed if Einstein was still alive, he would have proffered solution to help Astrophysicist solve this hurricane disaster.
Interesting! So why didn't he live forever? His brainpower is not enough to solve the mystery of death?

HealthO Lagos! Thou Welcomest Me With Chicken Pox by jubrils(op): 10:55am On Jul 25, 2016
My greatest concern when coming to Lagos was the traffic jams, followed by insecurity, and paranoidically the fear of one chance. What do I get "literally" slapped in the face with? Chicken pox! embarassed embarassed crySomething I thought I had escaped for life, & barely 3 weeks after arriving Lagos, BAM!
We see patients all the time and just write, do this, take that, but when faced with the condition itself, it brings home the truth about how patients really feel when they bring their complaints to us. I am in so much pains and distress now I'm not sure I'm not overdosing on some of my medications yet. This is just a call and reminder to fellow physicians to always personalize our patients and show empathy to them when they come to meet us because we can't just understand what they are going through.
I could use a iron sponge right now cry cry cry

when did torch lights and phone lights become drugs or therapy?

rather say you consult with torch lights , shikenah!

Back to the matter.
Thunder go fire anybody wey chop money meant for the betterment of patients.
Which 19million are u spending every month?

FG budgets 16M for fueling for a 24hr stable electricity monthly. Meanwhile you don't power your generators for 24 hrs.
IBEDC still supply electricity once a while, and the generators don't run at these times.

The main generator and most others are down at the moment due to lack of servicing. True or False?
You mean you spend the whole 16m every month? Haba.

It will cost just 40M to link up with Ganmo's 33Kv substation.
Why not do that?

EFCC and GOD is watching.

Sometimes, surgeries are completed with the aid of light from torchlight and phones.

Be careful before u throwaway what you've for what u dunno about. Getting opportunity for residency is a highly privileged position no matter aw messed up the system. PG training is the high point of any doctors career. N mind u residency is very hard to get in any part of the world. Believe me, leaving ur training post for a slavish GP job in a remote Arab country that has no respect for foreigners isn't what u wanna do. Look well b4 u leap into a ditch. If I were in ur shoes, my aim would be to complete my training. Possibly complete some foreign exams during the training and apply for juicy posts in a western country. Going to the middle east might be a good prospect for a GP earning less than 200k in naija. Not for sb in your position.
You just hit the nail on the head. I wanted to add this to my comments earlier but got distracted. Personally, I believe if you are going out before becoming a consultant, don't go to the middle east. This is because the pay is slightly above what you will get in some Northern federal hospitals coupled with the fact that it's a dead end job. The fact that he has been exposed to surgical training might even make it worse because he might find the work there too routine and boring. Yes I know Nigeria hospitals are in shambles but still residents are still a bit lucky, so the opportunity shouldn't be thrown away. Manage to finish while trying your best to prepare for/write some international exams and you can then decide if to move out or continue management in the country.

Exactly. In fact I'm presently thinking of relocating to the north. It's easier to get work there and will probably start saving for some of these foreign exams.

Hi fellas, this forum too gbaski. Hats off to you guys.
I wanna make some enquiries. I am currently a surgical resident in one of our Nigerian institutions, but I've had it up to here with the shit in the health sector and Nigeria as a whole. So I have decided to do the unthinkable, to leave residency in Nigeria and pursue my true dream, to do residency in Pathology in the USofA.
To achieve this I need a job that's paying well enough for basic life support and to pay the USMLE bills. I am strongly inclined towards the middle east, Saudi or any other that meets my requirements.
Can someone kindly share information on how to achieve this? i.e. Saudi jobs, UAE jobs etc
Thanks

Follow that link. The guy is an agent that gets involved with such things as you requested. By the way, there is an interview coming up soon this March for fresh recruitments so the earlier the better. You will get his whatsapp number and bbm on from his page.
I was also planning to go for the interview before but no money to even process passport. Imagine. No salary for 9 months. Anyway, struggle continues.

They have that annoying habit of telling you they've resolved the problem when they've not done anything. I even thought reporting them to CBN would yield something, for where?

Good day everyone, on November 17, 2015, I initiated a transfer of #7,000 to an access bank account using my diamond mobile app but till now, the money has still not been credited to the persons account not has it been returned back to my account. I have called their customer care several times and also gone to the banking Hall to make a written complaint but still, they've refused to return the money.
All they've been telling me is that the transaction was successful and hey the receivers hasn't gotten the money. I've forwarded the complaint to CBN through the cpd email address but still problem is still yet to be resolved.
Please is there any other thing I can do or does it mean my money is gone forever.

You are such an idiot to assert that! What he is saying is true. An accident victim came, you could not even at least do the following:

-Secure IV access, since they may be loosing blood.

-Take blood for urgent PCV, grouping and cross-matching for any emergency transfusion that the critical ones you triaged may need.

-At least examine the patient as a whole, look out for areas of injury, palpate the abdomen and make sure there is no guarding that could suggest internal organ rupture like the spleen.

-Provide pain relief etc etc.

-Did they not teach you the ABC of rescusitationhuh? You don't know that A starts for

A- Airway
B-Breathing
C- Cardiac function
D - Drugs
E - Examination (Quick)

- How stupiid are you that critical patients would be brought to your center (Accident and Emergency), and the first thing you are saying is for them to be referred? Is your work place a Babalawo center that you have to refer them at just sighting them? Won't you make sure that they are in stable condition first.

-You are stupidly calling on the government - to do what? Are they doctors? Do they know how to rescucitate patients? you foolishly called your lazy asss medical officer...what do you expect...huh Infact, if I am Seun and moderators, I would ban you from Nairaland!

-You are a house officer for goodness sake, the first on call, you ought to have stabilized the patients before calling anyone.

-You should be ashamed to call yourself a doctor. If anything you and the hospital should be sued and made to repeat your housemanship!

Nonsense!

-CramJones
I understand your point of view, but I guess you don't practise in the country presently. I'm not absolving the guy of any wrong doing but I can assure you I've experienced first hand lack of those essential things you mentioned, and yes in an emergency unit, infact so worse there was no needle and syringe. One of the solutions I think to this problem is for we doctors to be proactive ourselves. During my house job then, many of us had side bags we carried about that contained some of these essential things, bought with our money of course, and these were used for patients in emergency situations and when patients get more stable and was able to get his/her own stuffs, we just replaced some of these things we used for them in preparedness for the next patient.
The doc might have just started house job and had not experienced this kind of emergency preparedness before, let's just be easy on him and hope he will pick up some lessons from this thread.

Lumsing 10400mAh Power Bank review: Portable phone, tablet, camera charger is a must-have for festivals and camping
£21 inc VAT

By Marie Brewis | PC Advisor | 19 June 14

Lumsing's Power Bank is a must-have for festival-goers and campers this summer, allowing you to charge your smartphone, tablet, camera and any other 5V USB-powered device wherever you are.

Lumsing's Power Bank is a must-have for festival-goers and campers this summer, allowing you to charge your smartphone, tablet, camera and any other 5V USB-powered device wherever you are. Also see: Best holiday-planning apps.

It's a 159g, 138x59x20mm harmonica-style device, about the same height as our Samsung Galaxy S4, but a little chunkier and about two thirds of its width. You probably won't want to carry it in your pocket (if this is what you need check out the wallet-sized Onaji Pawa Card emergency charger), but the Lumsing will be an easy fit in your bag or even left in your tent. At just £17.99 on Amazon (but with an RRP of £45), you won't need to guard it with your life, and a soft case is supplied to protect it from any mud splatters and accidental damage. See all phone accessories and tablet accessories.

The Power Bank is available in shiny black or white, with a brushed-metal-effect band on the top and a silver plastic edge. It looks surprisingly good for its low price, and feels reassuringly sturdy. Also see: 9 best portable USB chargers 2014

Inside is a Grade A Samsung lithium-ion cell specified at 10,400mAh, which should be good for 500 charges. The Lumsing Power Bank never got any more than warm in our tests, and Lumsing says it's been designed to avoid overcharging and short circuiting, overcurrent and overvoltage.

How many times you can charge each of your gadgets depends on their own battery capacities. As a guide, Lumsing says you'll be able to charge an iPhone four- to five times, a Samsung Galaxy smartphone three times, and an iPad once. With phones that have lower-capacity batteries you could get as many as five or six charges.

If you're away from the mains for a few days, that's a lot of very useful portable power, and it puts battery cases such as Space Packs from Mophie - able to charge your device up to 80 percent - firmly in the shade.

More useful still is the fact the Lumsing has two USB outputs, so you can charge two devices simultaneously. The first output is specified at 1A, while the second 2.1A output offers a faster charge. A power button is found to the right of these outputs, along with four blue LEDs to show the Lumsing Power Bank's remaining charge. When it's empty, you simply recharge the Power Bank via Micro-USB.

A USB- to Micro-USB cable is supplied in the box, but you'll need to provide your own USB- to Lightning or other proprietary cables for other devices.

Also read our tips on how to improve smartphone battery life.

At £17.99 the Lumsing Power Bank is a fantastic buy, able to keep all your devices going several days away from the mains. If you're planning a camping trip or going to a festival, take the Power Bank with you.
