You actually missed the information, data from NBS shows we have a huge trade deficit with the US up to N445bn. You said used car.....so money used in buying used cars from US doesn't contribute to the US economy right? Pls study more about simple economics.

If people are not selling their used ones, demand for new cars would be slow. Besides, it's a huge profit to issurance companies in the US. Also, Nigeria buys new cars from the US. Even recently, House of Rep ordered over 400 Toyota from there and it's a yearly ritual. That's just an example to proof you wrong.

About oil, you are not updated, pls read current issues. US oil is actually competing with our oil in the international market and US is no longer buying from us again
You are wasting your time. I don't know if some people were born like that. I couldn't read his comment to the end. So much of ignorance and illiteracy packed together in one write up. This shows the ruins in our educational system.

I have read all the 10 comments on this thread, but to be frank with you, this is the most shallow, childish and dumbest. Indeed, it is completely off track, a clear depiction of lack of comprehension.

I presume the topic and its narrative is way beyond your capacity. Yes, some of the comments blame Nigeria and its president, but not without actual knowledge and understanding of the issue at stake.

Well, I know what you want is just "likes" and "shares". But at least, say something that make some sense and related to the topic. If the mods are objective, you should be sanctioned for derailing.
Leave them, Nigerians are always ungrateful. Trump called our president all kinds of name because of our president refusal to sell off Nigeria. Most Nigerians won't understand the importance of that little thing our president did and they will never want to.

Things are getting bad on the other side

Three Indian soldiers have been killed in a clash with Chinese forces in Ladakh in the disputed Kashmir region.
The deaths are the first in the disputed border area in at least 45 years, and follow rising military tensions between the nuclear powers.
The Indian army said senior military officials from both sides were "meeting to defuse the situation", adding that both sides suffered casualties.

Equatorial Guinea Constructs Wall on Border With Cameroon To Check Illegal Migration

Equatorial Guinea Constructs Wall on Border With Cameroon To Check Illegal Migration Credit: The Wall Street Journal
Within the past one month, there have been skirmishes between the security forces of Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea over the construction of a wall by Equatorial Guinea at Kye-Ossi on its side of the border between the two countries.

These confrontations have led to the displacement of several people from the border town of Kye-Ossi to the hinterland and to the return of some Equatorial -Guineans living in Cameroonian border villages to their country.

While the government of Equatorial Guinea has continued to officially insist that there is no such wall being constructed on its 189km long border with Cameroon, there is broad clear evidence to the contrary.

Semi-official sources and the local media in Equatorial Guinea reveal that what is being branded by the Cameroon media and officialdom as a Trump-type border “is actually an enclosure constructed within its territory, far away from the frontier, to prevent illegal entry into Equatorial Guinean territory by individuals bent on avoiding the official routes.

“The road linking the two countries is totally open and is the sole authorised entry point for those wishing to carry out legal transactions.”

However, some analysts insist that by constructing the border wall, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea and his compatriots intentionally want to subvert the sub-regional and continental integration accords ratified by their country.

A political analyst,. Annie Claire Ntamack, said “a wall constituting the border between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea is a veritable shame.

“An infrastructure like that one is a direct opposite to conventions and international treaties, not forgetting the principles of the African Union and even those of the Economic Community of Central African States as well as the international organisations to which the two states belong.”

In a rather tacit acceptance of the existence of the wall, border police of the former Spanish territory said “the real problem is that Cameroonians are in the process of illegally invading our country.

“With life difficult in their country, many young Cameroonians have decided to brave it to Equatorial Guinea in search of new openings in their lives..”

Young Cameroonians from Olamze near Kye-Ossi and Evouzok in Ma’an Sub-division use bush paths to enter Equatorial Guinea and sell their farm products at more than double the prices they can get at home in Cameroon.

“It has been several years since Equatorial Guinea started thinking about constructing a border wall at the frontier with Cameroon and the COVID-19 pandemic has just come to give the country an added reason for the necessity of the wall,” said Fabien Mvo’o, a young fisherman in Kye-Ossi.

According to Mvo’o, Cameroon should invest in structures that would attract young Cameroonians and make them prefer to stay at home rather than seeing greener pastures only on the Equatorial Guinean side of the border.

“Just see the difference between the Cameroonian and Equatorial Guinean sides of the border at night. While most of Kye-Ossi is in darkness at night, Ebibeyin on the other side of the border shines like daylight. The difference is like day and night,” Mvo’o said.

The authorities of the two countries, however, said they were working towards a lasting solution to the problem, which involves the clear demarcation of their borders.

“Today, no local person can give the exact border limits between the two countries. This is an issue that must be solved at the strategic level between the two countries”, the Governor of Cameroon’s South Region, Felix Nguele Nguele said after a meeting last week with Juan Javier Ndong Engono, Governor of Equatorial Guinea’s Kie Ntem Region.

“I am satisfied with the outcome of this meeting because when the population is not in peace, we the authorities cannot be in peace too. It has been agreed that for the moment, the absence of border limits should not prevent a farmer from going to harvest what he/she planted,” Engono said.

While the two governments continue the search for a lasting solution to the border problem, it is hoped that the security forces of the two countries would desist from trigger-happy attitudes that could lead to the further displacement of local populations on both sides of the frontier.

Hmmmm

OP though you raised some points but kindly be informed that the government at the centre is the one playing politics of hatred and bitterness against the Southeast.

In a real democratic government, each individual or region is at liberty to vote according to convictions in exercise of fundamental human rights without consequences afterwards.

In a sane country, once election is over, justice and fairness champion the activities of the government of the day but unfortunately, in Nigeria what you inherit from the government is directly proportional to your voting pattern. So, fix culpability where culpability is and stop shifting the blames and legitimizing an illegality.

What happened to the ever deceitful and ironical Federal Character Commission? What stops the government at the center from practising the stipulations of the said commission religiously for even distribution of the resources of the country?

Igbos undoubtedly may not be getting everything right but they are indeed, the true Nigerians that strive to enthrone merit in leadership in sharp contradiction to the present condition. And a nation that her government determines its infrastructural distribution in tandem with regional voting pattern in a particular election can never lay claim to equity and justice!
This your point would have gone far but no country is practicing full democracy even in a saner country. So it is better to be individually against than to be regionally against. Once a president indentify a region that is against his political progress, he will fight back or he may not like that region. That is just human behavior and it happen to everyone. Unless that region show their loyalty in another way, the president will always have poor opinion about that particular region even after stepping down. Democracy is on the papers but we are just humans.

like some one pointed out,if democracy is about neglecting the regions that didn't vote for you,the western countries won't practice it and they won't be as developed as they are.
they fact is that even if Buhari had gotten more than 100% votes from Igbo land,he would still not have done much for the region.his prejudices towards the region is legendary, from when he was head of state to PTF. this same Buhari is building a railway to Maradi in Niger republic,so tell me which political party did the maradi people vote for.
and trying to blame Igbos for Buharis wickedness and bigotry is on its own another wicked act towards the Igbos.
Democracy is not what made them so developed. They just used a good strategy and even before they invented democracy, they always ahead of others.
And for your point, you are blinded by hate, so I can't explain more things to you. It is a waste of time because you have made your stand clear

If democracy is a game and winner takes all no country would practice it ,
Democracy is a system where majority makes decision and the voices of the minority is considered also
Denying igbos development because they didn't vote buhari is absolutely nothing but pure wickedness and nothing more than that
Haven't everything Igbo expressed as fears over buhari come to live ? The south east have always been marginalized even in PDP , but at least not to this extent
People I actually blame are the igbos in APC ,I for one supported APC , in 2015 but once it was obvious APC never regards the Igbo man I had to stop , igbos today in APC are the fools , they are the ones that give the APC reason to do this rubbish ,How can u choose party over your people
North west was never won by PDP since 2013 ...yet PDP never relegated them to the back , that's why PDP is a national party and APC is north
I would advise you to leave democracy out of this matter. Democracy is good on paper but impossible to practice it. No country is fully practicing democracy now. This is just pure politics and I don't blame buhari for it.
And to tell you the truth, PDP did the worst, PDP didn't even come to buhari in terms of development in southeast. This just the pure truth. This administration is focusing more on infrastructure and other regions are getting the biggest part of it

You must be living in on planet 'lost'

How do you think Dangote became the richest man in Nigeria? By hardwork alone? No, he became what he is because of the undue advantage his fellow Northerners gave him in the 70's, 80's and much of the 90's when the North held sway under military rule

You are talking about insecurity and politics of hatred? Fulani herdsmen have been killing thousands Nigerians every year in the last couple of years, but a Fulani man is president of Nigeria

Northern elements like Boko haram, Fulani herdsmen and various armed bandits are armed and killing Nigerians daily but a Northerner is in power. And you are talking about politics of hatred from a South East that has no single armed group killing anyone? What can be worst than killing people? You are talking about national politics while the region that has produced boko haram, herdsmen and the most number of armed bandits are the one's who are in charge?

But in your own reasoning, the SE is the problem. How can anyone be this stupid?
I never said that southeast is the problem and
i never said of anybody helping someone to become rich.
I am talking about national politics and in politics, you have to compromise. Southeast needs to come together and push forward an engender. As things are now in national politics, it seems like we are always the enemy with nothing to benefit from it. Looking at how things are going, they are leaving us behind. Railway cost billions of dollars, how much is even second niger bridge? Little above half a billion dollars and we are celebrating. Look at government institutions in southeast and other region. From schools to hospitals. Do you think that government don't have good hospitals? Just travel to Lagos and Kano. Do you think that government don't have good schools? Just travel to ABU and OAU. Even a state sponsored hospitals in Kano is better than all the hospital in southeast states combine. We are losing and when you are losing, you go back and restrategize.
For your point, yes I agreed that dangote became rich through the government but he is not the only one that passed through that path even some Igbo sons, became rich through government help. Dangote is just business driven and he knows what he want.

With worries in my heart, I decided to make this post.
What worries me? Our envy and hatred among ourselves and lack of cooperation in Igboland. Our inability to strategize in national politics has caused us a lot. Our inability to diversify, that means putting our egg in one basket in national politics has made us look like haters of other tribes.
This is not time for chest beating but a time for deep reflection. It is time to look into our national political strategics.

With deep shock again i received another wonderful approval news of # 123billion for the ibadan to Kaduna rail line.
My first shock is the non inclusion of southeast in recently approved borrowing plan by federal government.

Southeast now, is lacking behind in infrastructural development. Our governors are steadily looting with no regard to no one. We are not even talking about it because it seems like we derive joy in talking and condemning the happenings in other region.

As this present administration focuses their energy on rail reconstruction and rehabilitation, I think it is left for us to make sure we didn't miss out from this wonderful opportunity.
Southeast needs three strategic rail line and tracks, which are; "SOUTHEAST - LAGOS" (for commercial purposes which we are known for), "SOUTHEAST to MAIDUGURU" (for food security), "SOUTHEAST to ABUJA" (for administrative purposes).
Then, I will highlight the important of rail lines for the southeast;
---- High speed over long distance.: with 572.2km from Enugu to lagos, it will take 9hrs for a journey by road transportation but with current acquired train that we have in the country which has the speed of 150km/hr, it will take us only 4hrs. And with the fastest train out there, which has the speed of 431km/hr, it will only take us 1hr: 30min to reach Lagos. As a business focused tribe, time is very important.
----Rail line can last for 200+ years. Unlike road, rail can last for hundreds of years, Generation to generation with proper maintenance.
-----Rail is cheaper than both road and air transport.
-----Rail is the safest means of transportation. Note it when I say safest means of transportation, no means of transportation even came close. With rampant road accident, our loved ones dying from the hands of reckless drivers. We should be calling for more safe way of transportation.
----shipping via train is more environmentally friendly; carrying capacity of a railway is not limited. It's capacity is elastic which can easily be increased by adding more wagon.
----it is suitable for carrying bulky and heavy loads.

We can't afford to deprive of our children this benefits because of bad politics. Our children in future will see this people enjoying what meant for all of us and they will definitely ask us questions.

Politics of hatred is the worst politics anybody can play. It chases investors away. It goes along to makes you enemy of the government at the central.
Look at Southwest alone, look at the number of investment they are receiving from both foreign and local investors. From dangote refinery, eko Atlantic.....etc.
Since dangote started his business, he never thought of investing big in southeast because of obvious reasons. How can he invest when at the slightest provocation, you went on burning dangote trucks and his little investment in the southeast. Even our very own people are investing outside our region citing witch-hunt from their people.
What I understand from Nigeria at this present time is that every tribe is finding solution for their problems. Look at the Northern part of the country, from abolition of almajiri to building of modern first class Ruga settlements in Kano and other northern parts. Their problem now is insecurities and poverty. Ask an average Igbo man the problem of his region, he will tell you that northerners are the only problem they have.
As things are going, one day they will give us this Biafra some people wanted so badly when they achieve their aim. Look at how they are connecting regions with railways and look at the map. You can see they are purposely sidelining southeast out of Nigeria.
*Delta-Abeokuta-Itekpe (completed)
*Abuja-kaduna (completed)
*Abuja light rail (completed)
*Lagos-kaduna (completed)
*Lagos-ibadan (about to be completed)
*Abuja-kano (money approved)
*Lagos-calaber (money approved)
*Ibadan-kano (money approved).
They have already connected others region and for those that think south-shouth will be part of Biafra, I hope you can see the plan now.

If we do not play the right politics now, envy for other tribe will only massively increase. Yes, it is just so natural especially when you see your mate or competitors leaving you behind. This happens to every individual irrespective of who you are or whom you intend to be. That you can control it doesn't mean it does not happen to you. And this envy and hatred has the potential to transmit to generations.
Look at our road, health care system, UNIVERSITIES, markets and tell me you are not feeling anything. Tell me you happy at this present condition.
Never try to divert the blame because it can only make it worst. The blame is on ourselves.
No region can do without the government at the central.

The USA is bigoted, hypocritical, practices double standards and is blatantly racist
. The degree of these inherent traits will depend on who is the President.

That means we need to be strategic in finding a way to play the game with them. However, we have not.

Egypt has the worst human rights record in my estimation in the whole of Africa. They have a despotic leader and very weak civil institutions.

There is very little press freedom and civil liberties are trampled upon regularly in broad daylight. It is not a democracy.

A nation where the legitimate democratically elected government was overthrown and all the party leaders labelled terrorists and in imprisoned under laughable and bogus allegations.

But Egypt are playing a game with Russia and the USA. Not completely aligning themselves to any buy using both of them.

The crisis in the Sinai by well not more than 1000+ disgruntled Islamic fundamentalist elements has never been quashed. Again they have allowed it fester for political reasons it seems to me. Particularly considering the might of Egypt.

Nigeria in thier low self esteem have allowed the US to play football with them. My view our corrupt politicians some with criminal records as well, have looted huge sums of money to the US and have acquired huge assets thier . Have compromised themselves and have been muted and cowed and accept too be treated with denigration.

Our arms procurement approach is underpinned with one preoccupation, the best deal for the individual not best value for the nation.
I agreed without reservation and I give you 5 star for this your post. I must say, you really impressed me with your broader knowledge on international affairs.
Not that Nigeria is just looking like zombie. They have been trying to shrugge off the devilish effect of the USA government, but me and you know that is almost impossible. For now, USA indirectly controls the social media in this country, so they control the narrative as well. They have many spies and agents in this part of the world both in form of human rights groups, NGO, top political brats, and others, such that in any act of disobedience from any president, what they need to do is just to press the button.

Yes, we can say America is unreliable

After the many decades America spent on making of the Democratic principle a sacrosanct philosophy through her very inception in the war of independence; war on undemocratic fascist Nazi Germany; war on threatened Vietnamese Democracy; war on threatened Grenada democracy; the creation of NATO to safeguard Western democracy; the funding of all sorts of rebel movement against Democratic threats, including in Afghanistan and the toppling of supposedly undemocratic South American regimes; Cold war against the former Soviet Union and her client nations like Cuba, North Kora and China for democracy sakes-

After the list above, what does America tell Nigeria in Nigeria darkest hours? Well, America condemns Nigerian nascent Democracy under Goodluck Jonathan. America does this by endorsing Idris Derby’s authoritarian Chad and to a lesser extent Paul Biya’s authoritarian Cameroon over Nigeria.

In a world where the West, led by America, is the author of Right and Wrong, they are able to change the narrative, as they like.

The lawmaker representing Batsari Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Jabiru Yauyau, confirmed the killing of the APC chairman in a telephone interview with THISDAY yesterday.

Some Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Faskari LGA in the state, yesterday also raised the alarm that the bandits had taken over their villages and communities.

Yauyau said the bandits, riding on motorcycles, stormed the residence of the victim at Sabon-Garin Duburawa village in Ruma ward of the council area about 12:47 pm yesterday.

He said: “It is true, some bandits riding on motorcycles attacked our party chairman, Abdulhamid Sani Duburawa, at his hometown Sabon-Garin Duburawa and shot him severally and left.

“He was rushed to the Batsari General Hospital for treatment but unfortunately for us, he died. His body has been moved to his residence here in Batsari in preparation for burial.”

The lawmaker called on security personnel to intensify efforts in tackling banditry in the area, saying “if not, the bandits will finish us.”

However, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isah, a Superintendent of Police, was yet to respond to inquiries as of the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the IDPs in Faskari LGA in the state, yesterday raised the alarm that bandits have sacked their villages and communities.

The displaced persons, who are currently taking refuge in Faskari Model Primary School alleged that despite the deployment of security personnel by the federal government to flush out the hoodlums in the state, killings had continued unabated in their villages.

The refugees, in separate interviews with THISDAY in the makeshift camp said the bandits had taken over Birni Kogo, Ungwan Tsamiya, Ungwan Liman, Ungwan Zuru, Bangi and Kafi, among other villages in the local government area.

The Chairman of the camp, Mr. Aliyu Lawal, had told THISDAY that there were 2,624 IDPs in the camp and over 3,000 others outside the temporary camp.

According to Lawal, the displaced persons are from 23 villages of Birnin Kogo, Tsamiya, Zuru, Bangi, Kafi, Ungwan Liman, Gago, Gidan Wakili, Makera, Gidan Sharo, Danmairo, Sabuwar Ungwa, Ruwan Kusa, Bika, Kogon Kura, Dan Boka, Maigiya, Gwanki, Dudu, Ungwan Dorawa, Shuwaki, Akwanfa and Rabah.

One of the IDPs, Saratu Maigora, from Zuru, said the marauding bandits ransacked their village and carted away all their belongings, including foodstuffs.

She added that banditry and other heinous activities orchestrated by the miscreants have become a daily occurrence in most communities in Faskari.

“Since the day we were displaced by bandits in Zuru, they couldn’t allow us to return. They have taken over our ancestral homes; we want to go. The police should go and kill these bandits,” she stated.

Another refugee, Mr. Abubakar Kabiru, said: “We have been displaced by bandits for almost a month. Many people who survived the invasion are squatting with families and friends or getting shelter wherever they can with untold hardship.”

On his part, Adamu Bangi, said: “Even yesterday (Saturday) bandits killed three people and kidnapped six others in Matseri village of Faskari.

“They came on motorcycles and attacked Matseri and adjoining villages; shooting sporadically and in the process killed the victims. The government should put an end to these killings,” he added.

I will keep on posting on this thread, una go lament and wail tire grin
Change your mindset to positivity. I didn't condemn you for posting bad news but let it be balanced between good and bad news. People feared that anytime you post here, it is all about bad news. Sometimes try and contribute something positive to the thread. This is a millitary discussion thread and not a news site.

Iraq 1st and 2nd war was to topple Saddam , isis didn't come out then , it happened much afterwards when they come to power during whose regime

As for Afghanistan I was there , I know how the conditions deteriorated under which regime . How much heroin was being moved out in exchange of favors. What deals were cut which eventually back fired on the afghanis and empowered the talibanis.

Same for Syria and Libya

I made my point on that , I should have mentioned it .

Also though irrelevant point , it doesn't matter who is in power , the ones behind the scenes pulls the strings. Nothing is as simple as it looks . There is a continuity of objectives , either subtle or forceful depending on who is in power. These games r not limited by presidential tenures but played in decades. Players r many , fallguy is one

If one is not clear best ask or ignore
I think the bolded is what you should have said instead of awarding the price to a political party.
USA is USA irrespective of political party involved. They have long selfish strategic regional plan for their country. Whatever the plan is, they follow it whether good or bad.
