Thank you my brother, how is business going? |
The fence looks really good, well done Oga Spyder880. It's great that you want to share the cost. My people, please advise me on this issue. I want to erect a low fence to secure a relatively large piece of land. Budget for a 3-couch fence is quite low. Does someone know any cost-saving strategy? Blinding will hike the cost. So, how about setting 6" solid blocks directly without blinding the surface? Note that the soil is dry and stable. |
Afrilogistics: Picture did not load. Anyway, Van is clean and decent. Very suitable for moving computers and electrical products. You could not even accord a simple courtesy of replying to my emails, after you agreed to convey my books from Lagos to Enugu. What happened ... |
spyder880: Which Oga?Oga Spyder, why you dey tease me now? Everyone knows that you've kept the flag flying high for your boys. Business is moving well and many thanks for your explanations. At least I can plan towards securing my plot with a dwarf fence round it. |
Malubi: GoodIs this the only way to apply for university positions in Nigeria, not even a single email address mentioned in the advert? |
Oga sir, well done ooo! What is the depth of the foundation and the cost/per partition for digging? |
Thanks so much for your feedback. My current project is rather a small one. I hope that we can work together in the near future; have noted down your contact info. |
Hi Topsy, Where are you? My project is located in the East. Pls, what's the current cost of a water heater (for a bathroom shower), and a water pump? I'm only bracing up for an upcoming plumbing work. Thanks a bunch Topsy. |
Looking really good, and your choice for solid blocks is simply brilliant. |
A decent piece of work Vito, well done. It came out really well, as it seems that the tiler used spacers & thereafter applied his grout quite well. You might have supervised the tiling yourself. I was wondering whether it was silicon that you applied on the edges. Also, it would be great to know how you sourced the adhesive used to set the tiles. More power to your elbows. |
Ooops! I don't manage to post my pictures yet for some unknown reasons ![]() |
Thank you prince onx for offering to assist with conveying my tiles. The point is that I haven't even bought them yet, but had hoped to buy my preferred tiles, either from the States or Europe. It'll depend on where one gets a loading space in a container. I'm based in Finland and expect to find a greater variety and quality of tiles that will suit my needs. If it takes too long to get the means to convey the tiles, I'll source them from Naija. It would be nice know how good the adhesives and grouting materials really are. No doubt that it is easier and perhaps cheaper to buy all the materials from Naija. In fact, I plan to tile my space by myself and will start as soon as my materials arrive on site. Does someone know where I can buy a very high quality tiling adhesives (not the typical white cement) and grout in Nigeria? I think that it would be nice to a great variety of tiles to choose from, and the following quality of work won't be bad ![]() |
My Oga, happy new year o I don't need to ask because I know yours has also reached advanced stages?Big bros, thank you so much ooo for letting us to sit at your table. May God continue to bless and keep you and your family. The dressing has now been completed at my site & electrical work is currently ongoing. Bros, the finishing chops a lot of money. I'm still expecting to find someone who would be loading a container from the US, to help me load up some tiles & grout. I'll show some pictures of our little progress later. |
I salute your courage, well done. |
Damache ignores emails from prospective clients. I'm not surprised that you're still here posting doors, doors, and more doors. I think that it'll help your business better to start responding to mails, especially from those requesting for your price list. |
Ok, thank you |
@Robertomatteo Email bounces, please crosscheck and post it again |
It was my pleasure, all the best |
I went for casement and my main reason was to maximize air flow. Don't get me wrong, sliding windows can be pretty and the risk of post installation breakages is minimal compared to casement. Follow your mind bro. But unless you have real urgency to mount the windows, waiting for a few months to save up ain't a bad idea. |
Truth is that you won't find a real aluminium fabricator on this forum, maybe a contractor. All my trusted aluminium guys are located in Abuja, which is where all my aluminium work are done and transported back to the East. Abuja has the largest stock & best quality materials in the region, located at the famous dumez/kaduna Rd market complex. Have you got any quotes from around Ibadan? You may get some constructive comments by posting them here, you never know... |
@jot01 You have done very well for yourself to get to this stage in your project, kudos. Building projects can be fun but also bring a lot of frustrations. Here is what I did in my own project... I took two aluminium fabricators to my building site at different times, took measurements and obtained their quotes for both the sliding & casement windows. Ask for a breakdown of the required materials. Compare the lists and you will deduce the following: In some cases, casement can be double the price of sliding windows. Even without knowing the size of your project, glass alone won't cost more than 20k. This means that most of your money will be spent on profiles and accessories rather than on glass. Accessories contribute a great deal to the cost of casement windows. Based on your budget, urgency, purpose of building (own residence or rental), you will decide whether or not to embark on casement windows. Reality is that you can construct sliding windows in phases, such that you instal frames and thereafter the framed glasses. In contrast, most casement windows are built together with frames and installed as one whole piece. Find a friend or relative who is somewhat knowledgeable in aluminium work. Let him help you to negotiate for labor with aluminum fabricator. If the latter agrees to list & quantify the required materials, compare with your other quotes and ask to buy the materials. The fabricator cuts, mills, assembles and installs your windows. Truth is that dubious ones will always play pranks in terms of material quantities, if you don't have an experienced person around. It's quite easy to mix local and foreign materials, thus explaining why you can buy your materials. However, I believe that you can find honest fabricators who will give their best services if you treat them right. All the best... |

Thanks Afrilogistics for your reply, 10th October is great. Could you please send me a short email message so that I could remind you as time draws close. |
Does anyone plan to transport a van/bus from Lagos to the South-East? I've got some personal books to move from Lagos to Enugu. The books are printed Journals packed in 14 cartons. I think that they can all fit into five empty sacs of rice. My people, abeg indicate if you can or know someone else who can convey the books to Enugu. Current location of the books is Sango Ota and the budget is 25000 Naira. You can drop your message/contacts here or email me at: sozoemena@hotmail.com |
Still looking... |

Thanks fm7070 for your advice. 14 cartons of books are quite heavy. So, I don't think that a car can carry them. Weigh-billing at IFEX/ABC is scary and can be outrageous. This is why I think that a van/bus would be a good alternative. |
Na you be my main Oga o
How business Sir?
