Indeed, a highly educative thread. Guys please note that Spyder has just attached a word file where he kindly explained the various uses metal sheets and rods in relation to size/thickness. There are lessons to learn regarding the thickness of these raw materials since certain marketers and fraudulent contractors potentially sell/use low thickness alternative in order to maximize their profits. So, open the attached file to find the 'fish'. Thanks Spyder for your generosity with these invaluable info. |
My people, has anyone of you guys enjoyed the services of Andy Young (First Aluminum) or Tower Aluminum (Asaba Aluminum)? Please share your experiences with a brother who needs to sack his landlord ASAP. So how do the following compare between both rival companies: - Durability and quality of aluminum sheets, professionalism and neatness of the installation, cost etc |
This house is coming out really nice. Colour of the crown is loving. Congrats bro! |
No doubt, Chief Spyder's team is doing great. |
This house is maturing very fast and soon the house-warming would be announced here live Truly, green is the way to go: it's coming out beautifully. |
Nice one bro, ride on! Hope the network will permit you to upload some more pics. |
Oga Vito, congratulations! You sure have divine hands on your project given the progress within the space of time. Kudos bro! It's all His mighty hands and your personal sacrifices to see it through to this stage. As mortals, we can easily overlook the fact that there haven't been any major site incidents/accidents in most of the active building sites. It's pure divine grace. Having followed your project from the site clearing up until its present stage, I can only commend your doggedness. Good soup na money! If you ask me, this home will easily pass for a model bungalow taking into account costs in relation to the numerous safety measures, openness and free flow of all the details including building drawings. Baba, thanks for your generosity. May the good Lord reward you and all friends out there who contributed in one way or another. The fact that pillars and beams stood where they should coupled with the neat chaining of this edifice, makes it stand out. I love the simplicity of your pillars, which contributes to the neatness of this project. Vito, keep doing what you are doing. You are almost there! |
You are very welcome my Prof. I will be expecting your message. Keep up your good works! Happy Sunday to you sir and also to your entire household. |
^^^ Good point bro! You raised an important concern since more pillars will spread the overlying weight without so much pressure on the decking. Considering that weight of your roofing framework is huge and blocks alone may not bear considerable amount of load for too long, it won't be a bad idea to consult with your engineer. In case you decide to reduce the number of pillars, the assumption is that you would consider chaining your lintels round for improved stability. @Spyder Your crib is coming out fine and I agree with madam that green is the way to go. It's simply loving! More grease to your elbow. |
One could imagine it's the choice of your client. Do you think covering the facial board plus noggings with aluminum could bring additional advantages? |
^^^ You have done very well bro. Both the block work and roofing look very neat. For the roof, was there any particular reason why you (or your client) chose to have ceiling noggings all round the house when it could have been covered quite easily with aluminum at the time of roofing? The choice of ceiling may add to your overall cost but you have your reasons. Could you share with us the pros and cons of each options. Thanks again for educating many of us. |
(#600k * 12 months) * 10 yrs --> #7 200 000, abi bros? I think people expect you to apply your discretion and own good judgement |
Oga Spyder We are trusting God in this brand new year. He is watching over us all. Ride on bros, you have done very well |
^^^ @ Oyewole123 You need to sign in with your NL user ID in order to view Spyder's or anyone's details. In the case of Spyder, you will find them right under his username (email etc) and at the bottom (phone number, BB pin) of all his posts. Hope this would help , |
Quality of the 3/4 gravel is superb! |
^^^ Could you have referred to all your projects or it's just a matter of priority given where the budget is possibly greater? I doubt seriously that funds are the problem in all the other projects. |
Nothing beats knowledge. |
Good job, great thread, keep it up bro. |
Thank you bros, His blessings shall not depart from your household. Happy new year! |
Spyder's words were carefully chosen and so coded that they may require to be cracked ![]() Nonetheless, they were well thought out and packed with the best wishes of 2012. Surely a year of increase! Happy New Year to all! |
It is well with the righteous. Carry go jare ![]() |
Well done Spyder! You won't fall from the building, Chineke ekwela. Say tufiakwa my brother ![]() Where is Oga lawyer and other distinguished moderators, when shall we exercise our voting rights as true NLers to vote for the Nairaland person of the year? Na true talk jor ![]() |
I'm curious too at least to hear about the partitioning as well as the number of rooms within this mansion. Only then would the cost and material use make good sense to a lay man. One/two pictures of the 3D plan would be fun too, and I hope the landlord would be generous to share with fellow students here ![]() Oga landlord we beg you to let Spyder show us even if na the 3D model ![]() |
Bros, you have done very well given the size of your project and the speed construction. I admire your tenacity! A lot of people would be discouraged quite easily by the words of some pessimists You simply refused to go under and said no way to their pressure. You have come a long way, bravo! It's a lot of money but at the same time fun doing the project. Above all, thanks for sharing your experiences with everyone. |
Gbam ![]() |
Oga Ogbefi and Oga vitodorado, abeg make una show us some pictures ooh! We learn a lot from your projects as God continues to bless the works of your hands ![]() |
Spyder is the Baba, it's coming out really nice. |
Very neat job, especially the way pillars and lintels were 'forced' to align with the block work. You have done well bro. |
^^^ You are right Oga Fhemmmy, it's always better to extract as much info as possible from Profs. So carry go jare, nothing dey happen |
^^^ Oga Phemmmy, you mean say the Prof should know the depth of water table in an area where he's spent just 2 weeks? I think those estimations require some specialized instruments which he might not have or can't carry around. Remember that it's a new terrain for the Prof also who might never have done any previous borehole in Anambra. In the future however, he should be able to provide answers to your questions. We are on the look out for your new thread which depends on the speed of your architect. Abi na your project dey happen so in Anambra? If yes, make we follow you thank God oo bros! |
@imiegba1 You are right, certain details are missing from your quote (e.g. quanitity of gravel/granite, water, wood etc). However, cost seems to include arc and carpentry work. Maybe it's better to clarify what's included. Quote doesn't include water which tends to suggest there's a good source of water on site. You may ask for the details of the rods, lengths and sizes, as you may need a couple of 6mm in addition to several lengths of 12mm. Overall, it depends on the size of your building as well as the features. Many pillars can translate into more bags of cement etc. So, tell about the size and unless you own a truck or delivery of materials site is FOC, one would expect to have the cost of transporting them to site. Fellow students of this Academy can say something before the Profs rap it up. Meanwhile, give us more details as requested above. |
Baba Ogbefi You have a big project here, but I like your strategy of taking one step at a time. That is the beauty of building in Naija. Great efforts so far! You have our overall support in prayers and don't worry, there will not be any casualty on your site. The guys are skilled in what they do - Baba God will leave many more open doors ahead of you. Good stuff and please continue to quench our thirst with more pictures - ![]() |
