rvp2018: KQ was privatized in 1995 - GoK owned only 25% - and recently when it got into trouble - gov has been bailing it out and converting the debt into Equity - now GoK owns about half of KQ. Banks and lenders own 38%.
We don't want to become Nigeria or Ghana where we depend on foreign airlines to fly. It is better to fly foreign than to own a debt making business for more than 12 years. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Just30: 10:39pm On May 26, 2020 |
rvp2018: Gov owns 48% of it. KQ lenders/creditors own 38 and KLM 8 - and rest public. We will nationalize it. The Airline industry is a very tough yet critical sector.
KQ is too important to be left to die.
We know what ails it is unfair competition from likes of Ethiopia Airlines, Emirates and Etihad.
And we are giving KQ the same arsenals...to go to war on equal footing with those gov subsided airlines. go ahead and your country debt will hit 90% of GDP |

rvp2018: We are talking about economics. Not politics. Kenya was part of Non-aligned. But we choose the capitalism system and in the 1990s - we open our economy - and so we cannot be a Nigeria with an import ban list for Abuja fatcats.
We cannot have a salt billionaire. Learn about non-Align first and you will know how the politics transcends the economics |

rvp2018: We have made profit before for many years- and we will soon make profit. So we understand why we want to keep KQ flying. Our gov alone - travel budget is big enough - to finance an airline. So why would we give all that money to foreign airlines. 12 years and more counting not a single profit If your government travel budget is big enough KQ wont be having a problem meeting it operation cost. |

rvp2018: How many Ghanaians still prefer dollar account to protect theirssavings. Your useless CEDIS is like Zambia Kwacha. Nobody trust it. Even if you DEMONIZITIZE it very year and peg it 1:1 to the dollar. You cant own a dollar account here if you dont earn in dollars. |

rvp2018: It's an option country like South Africa with mostly domestic debt can take. Whether they take it - depend on them. It not an option for Ghana, Kenya or Nigeria. An option that will be bad for even SA |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Just30: 10:11pm On May 26, 2020 |
do you know what Non-Align movement is ? Give it a read. rvp2018: You tried communist and by 1961 before Kenya became independent - you had filed for bankruptcy and you invited the IMF to run your country ever since.
There is a reason why IMF keep coming - you communist hangovers are tad too much - and they have to keep coming and coming - to teach you the wonders of open market liberalized economy.
China tried it - and they have lifted millions out of poverty. Nigeria and your - little Nigeria - should try it. No Dangote. But many small competitive business selling slat. |

So you will want to keep making losses for the next 50 years? The US was sensible enough to leave the Airline business to private players when their national airlines kept making losses. rvp2018: KQ is critical national asset. We are not Ghana backwater or Nigeria to allow it to die. We have built our horticulture and flower sector on the back on it.
Airline industry is like that. There was time when KQ was winning awards left right and center. That time Ethiopia airline was making huge losses.
That time was until 2012. KQ went down. Ethiopia airline came up. KQ by now would be bigger than ET Airlines.
Sorry but where is Ghana Airways again? So we can listen to you. |

I didnt mistake it for Kenya. It will be bad for SA. They will end up opening a new pandora box that will sink their economy. rvp2018: We were talking about South Africa. I don't recall advising Kenya to nationalize debt or print money . I have always advised Kenya to continue with refinancing it's debt - until it get back to good solvency ratios - and then restart leveraging.
My advice for Ghana - find a way to get people to trust the CEDIS - otherwise you're like Zambia -DOOMED. |

Liberalization is a fucking nonsense It is like a sales pitch that keeps countries dependent on others and opens up other countries for capitulation. For more than 100 years, the US was big on keeping monopolies. Even today, They are busy keeping their monopolies above water. rvp2018: So basically all the market liberalized economy is nonsense and we should go for monopolies - and create mini-Nigeria of 1 billionaire selling salt and 150m poor people. You still have communist hangovers.
Countries protect infant industries - but for a short period of time - and with serious targets - and without corruption. The idea is once they mature - you OPEN the market for international competition.
Nigeria is the opposite - you start with a monopoly and forever keep the monopoly by banning imports.
For every monopoly - the biggest sufferer is the CONSUMER - which is why the market economy always wins - because the customer wins with competition - price, quality, name it. |

Go back to school kid Kenya is not New Zealand, that country has a way better economy. You should learn the ills of helicopter money. rvp2018: Yet another ignorant Nigeria,
Quick Google Search - Just this week New Zeland as we speak is printing money to pay off debt. Countries nationalize their debt if it's domestic. That one way to ensure the economy doesn't sink
ANZ expects the Reserve Bank will increase the cap on quantitative easing to $90 billion in August, by earmarking up to another $30b for bond purchases.

compiling more debt for 12 years is not flying kiddo that is simply disaster rvp2018: Where is Ghana Airline? South Africa Airways and Ethiopia Airlines were the only ones who could light a candle to us. Now South Africa is down out.
KQ is still flying and we are working on making it stronger by doing what Ethiopians and Arab Airlines are doing - we are going to heavily capitalize the Airline by giving it the Airports and many assets. |

Im not even referring to Asia alone From the America's to Europe pick any country any you will find monopolies. rvp2018: Don't confuse what Asian tigers did to protect infant industries with corrupt-Nigeria closed economy to benefit a few barons.
If Nigeria was succeeding - they won't have overtaken India in poverty - at the time they are pumping more oil that ever before.
If you look at almost every indicator - Nigeria is sinking deeper into poverty and financial crisis.
Dangote can buy the country now. |

If you want your country to succeed in specific sectors important to your economy, You will be learning how to create monopolies . rvp2018: And here is how Dangote got rich by making Nigerians poorer...and you're very proud of him.One billionaired.140 million poor people with 100M extremely poor
9 A leaked US Embassy cable on Dangote dated March 7, 2007 reported that “Dangote is counted among President Obasanjo’s inner circle of business advisers” and that it “is no coincidence that many products on Nigeria’s import ban list are items in which Dangote has major interests.” The cable further stated that Dangote “has had success blocking trade and investment that might compete with his enterprises.”50 As would be seen in the next section, Obasanjo also aided the Dangote Group by closing down the cement factory of one of his competitors: Ibeto Cement. Another controversial waiver granted by the Obasanjo administration was the $3 billion import duty waiver to Western Metal Products Company Limited (WEMPCO) Nigeria Limited, a Chinese company for the establishment of a $250 million cold rolled steel plant in the country. The Federal Ministry of Finance have tried to address part of the outrage that this transaction caused by clarifying that “the duty concessions and incentives should comprise five percent duty rate across the board on all raw materials for two years, zero percent duty rate and VAT exemptions on all plants and machinery.” Despite this, it remains unclear where the $3 billion dollars came from. This raises questions about possible abuse of such a waiver through the importation of unrelated items under the cover of such waivers.51 It is important to note that this waiver, which has been described as a “non transparent business transaction”, was granted in an industry where Nigerian enterprises are active.5 |

TayserMahri: The Kadhi courts actually fall in that level...Judge to population ratio is what am talking about, meaning you dont want judges handling petty cases when real cases are pending if some kadhis can do that for that segment of the population. Basically we have all those subordinate courts too that do that for the rest of the non-Muslim population. Religious fanatics need to be3 kept out of the Justice system |

Divisional courts are there for that TayserMahri: Well I meant all manner of smaller cases not just the domestic violence ones...including contracts and transactions. DOVVSU is only domestic violence. |

rvp20182: So an African goes to Switzerland to go watch deers and squirrels? Sound like you had a lot of virtual experiences. Did you at least get to see how your cocoa beans is turned into billions? I'd understand if you went to the mountains - and took a cable car ride - or well skiing tours - that is kind of thing people do in Switzerland. Heck in fact If I recall all the bus tours basically operate the kind of thing - tour the city, go to the mountains, museums, and that kind of thing. when you can Afford to travel to Switzerland You will find out the kinds of animals a Creux du van. I was more interested in Nature than go skiing in Switzerland. when I'm on personal tours, then i can go have fun. |

In fact, I checked the train from Zurich to Neuchatel - doesn't even pass Olten. So whoever was organizing your virtual tour is crazy. They long ate and exterminated all animals...and woke up too late like Ghana.
