gallivant: GDP is the output of a nation in $$; productivity. More cars, luxury goods and homes were sold in Kenya last year compared with Ethiopia. Which economy to you was most productive, ignoring your currency manipulation gibberish and the fact that they have double the size of our market? Nominal GDP is a measure of a nation's productivity in dollar terms meaning, you will have to convert a nation's currency to dollars to get that hence the manipulations. PPP measures that same productivity of the nation by picking a scale which removes currency. Hence economist dont compare two economies using Nominal GDP but PPP. Now that ive taught you economics 101, never make the mistake. Stop deceiving yourself that you purchased more houses or cars than Ethiopians. Do you have a reading problem? Your real estate market has collapsed with empty malls empty office spaces and all of that. buildings being confiscated by court order and all of that. |

gallivant: You are a blockhead. How productive do you need to be to get 16 IMF bailouts? hello WAN KER just return to your monosyllabic goon character. this is beyond the capacity of your brain. how many more chinese loans do you need to make your 53 million population more productive than 30 million ? |

gallivant: PPP doesn't indicate economic productivity, GDP does. Dude, do you even understand anything about the topic? PPP puts the productivity of an economy on an equity scale. Since we all know GDP measures productivity, what do you think PPP ? PPP is a measure of productivity without the nonsense of fiat currency manipulation dumb dumb |

Austine1213: SA has biggest formal retail sector, but nigeria has bigger ppp yes you have a bigger formal retail sector but you dont have the biggest retail sector. Nigeria has the largest retail sector in Africa because it is a consumption economy. A real market economy Egypt could have been the largest but it doesnt have the kind of labour force Nigeria has. |

gallivant: Only West Africans are doing the comparisons with Ethiopia. Ethiopians themselves are wiser.
The only advantage to their population is cheap labour otherwise it drags their overall economy down. For example their GDP per capita is very low hence why you are grasping on PPP with your dear hobbit life. you are funny Their population is propelling their economy and it is an advantage. They have the biggest market in East Africa hence a huge productivity. But hear we are a Zombie Kenyan trying to grow a brain. per capital does not matter when comparing which of the two countries have the largest economy. something you kenyan have been making noise about. |

gallivant: The Ethiopian population and land mass is more than double that of Kenya. Kenya is doing all right if you consider all the variables. then dont compare yourself to them cos you can't beat their economy. They have their population as an advantage. |
