If you want to know healthcare plays a direct role in the life expectancy, compare SA life expectancy with countries with similarly high prevalence of HIV but with a worse healthcare sector, like Eswatini and Lesotho. The life expectancy in SA is 62, in Eswatini is 57, and in Lesotho is 54 yrs.

The best interpretation for life expectancy is that the current cohort of babies as at 2019/2020 are expected to live this long. In Ghana is 65 in Tanzania is 66 in Kenya is 67. What that means is that kids born in Ghana today, given the prevailing conditions in Ghana, encompassing all the madness, crime, rape, disease, poor healthcare, road accidents, food, etc, can only be expected to live 65 years.

so why are most Ghanaians living longer and getting older than kenyans.

Doctor to patient ratio is a small part of African problems.SA with a good ratio of doctors,her citizen live less years than Tz!

I can agree on a ratio of well trained nurses.The nurses or medical assistants are more helpful since you can easily use them on prevention stuff.Tz uses medical assistants on most of these areas of prevention. That's one of the reason why Tz with few doctors but we live longer! We do more on prevention.

one of the finnest way to acess health delivery is the amount of doctors doing the job . you can say you have a good quality health care when there are only handful of doctors to do the job. for instance A country with a ratio of 1 doctor to 16 thousand patient can't say it is more efficient than a country with 1 doctor to every four thousand patient.

even the results from both of them will show that the one with 16k patients is stressed hence produce awful results not because he is not good but because he is over worked.

While the one with 4k patients can actually even venture into preventive care for his patients because he has a lot of spare time.

I have always know US and Canada not to have the best, though they are the countries we all run to.

I have always know Germany and Switzerland to have better systems.

I least expected France to top because I had little knowledge of their system except for their medieval records.

That's why I said facilities alone are insufficient. You need to check on prevention,and that will mean to give right knowledge to citizen.You will need to check other stuff like quality of water,pollution level(also issues of conservation), you will need to check on illiteracy,quality of food eaten by citizen, corruption levels,crime,quality and not just quantity of health sector employees,other infrastructure stuff like roads,etc.

So,when you see a certain nations citizen live longer,know that there so many stuff are done for a long period of time

for instance
South Africa has better health care delivery and facilities than Ghana but Ghana life expectancy is above that of SA.

Check SA mortality rate and you will find out that it is 3 to 4 times lower than that of Ghana
