This is, by no means, a direct attack on any political party. It is based on objective observation. If you doubt them, google will help you to establish the veracity of my claims.

These are the areas where Buhari's government has failed hopelessly since he became the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria;

1. Electric Power Sector

2. Road Construction and Rehabilitation

3. Sports Development

4. Banking Sector

5. Employment Generation

6. Stimulation of Foreign Direct Investments

7. Manufacturing and Technological Development

8. Petroleum Production, Refining and Provision

9. Youth Development

10. National Economic Development

11. Intra-Ethnic Cohesion among Nigerians i.e. Tribalism

12. Protection of Lives and Properties (Especially in Southern Nigeria)

13. Protection of Freedom of Speech

14. Upholding the Rule of Law

15. Sustenance of Separation of Power

16. Decline in Educational Sector

17. Empowerment of Women

18. Religious Tolerance Among Nigerians

19. Holistic Elimination of Corruption in Nigeria i.e. Many Corrupt Party Faithfuls Are Free From Prosecution

20. Sustenance of the Agricultural Revolution

Hmm! Seems we've probably met cuz I go out a lot. Where are you now?

I'm currently in Malaysia on invitation for Hari Raya celebrations. It's pretty insignificant at home (Aus).

I just knew a few of you through some Australian ladies that briefly hung out with some of you guys back then. Infact, I applied for an EP for one of you that was determined not to go back, but ICA rejected her without explanation. Sad realities of the struggle abroad. I had my full dose of it.

I was in Singapore for 4 years on business. That "probably" falls within the time you said that you returned to Nigeria (rough calculation from when you started your NYSC). You are probably from Rivers state, and was one of the scholarship students in Singapore (From oil producing area, and studied @ Oxford Brook Uni. I may still be wrong). I kinda have a guess of who you may be cos I know a few students that were dating some Australian chicks then. Singapore is a small country.

You shouldn't have gone back to Nigeria my friend. Nigeria is a hellhole. I saw many Rivers State students that eloped after their scholarship ended.

I visited Nigeria from a tour of Europe a year ago, after 11 years abroad. I did that to reaffirm my conviction never to return to stay permanently in Nigeria. You should have travelled to Australia with your Australian chick (I'm Naija-Strayan). By now, you'd have been chasing your citizenship.

See, I receive insults daily when I tell some Nigerians that I won't return until I see how ready Nigerians are for development. I really don't care about what they say. The suffering, favoritism, tribalism, corruption etc are just too suffocating to live a day with. It will take 3 generations for all these to change in Nigeria.

I feel you my friend.

The first step in a receivership is to take stock and then resume operations.

Read about it before jumping into conclusions.

What AMCON has done is to shut the businesses down, and the spiralling effect will be evident soon. They will most probably liquidate them and store the money in their accounts if BMB decides to fight on. That, my friend, is a wrong approach.

With a name like just ash, it should be clear that the ops understanding of business is limited to over the counter transactions.

Silver bird is bankrupt. They are unable to meet their financial obligations.
Amcon has taken them over, and will hopefully restructure them to make them more profitable.
End of.

Silverbird is not bankrupt mister. They have not filed for one. AMCON simply shut it down because of a debt. Try not to add twists to the story.

What's this got to do with the government we voted for to look out for us doing their job.?

Law and order trumps what you are saying.

This issue is on the table because law and order didn't exist when he made the sweetheart deal with his cronies in government that looked the other way while he lived like a big boy on our money..

If indeed he made a deal with the past government, and a new government emerged and truncated it, it vindicates my view that this government is making Nigeria an unreliable investment destination. However, I don't know of such a deal. I only know that the businesses were shut down because of an amount owed. I am saying that shutting the businesses down is not a wise action. They should have recovered the money while keeping the business alive.

I reiterate that there is no Law and Order in Nigeria's economic system. Investment accounts are frozen and seized without warrants and with reckless abandon. Is that lawful? Where is the "Order" with CBN twisting and turning fiscal regimes like a chameleon and turning a blind eye to the after effects?

Are you speaking because you are among the many Nigerians denied jobs, opportunities, public and social services like good schools, roads, hospitals, good health care and so on that this man denied Nigerians by illegally stiffing Nigerians and denying us N11 billion?

Do you eve know how many jobs N11 billion can create?

This man benefited from the same corrupt and bankrupt system he hypocritically lambaste everyday and even sef, we wont be talking about this money of GEJ did lose the last election.

It beats me how and why GEJ made this man the director of NTA while owing Nigerians such huge amount and refusing to pay, such crooked rubbish doesn't happen in lawful societies.

You are talking about jobs because people like this crooked man denied NIGERIANS jobs and better life while they live large with our money.

Please stop making silly excuses for crooks, it's discussing.

Last time I checked, those businesses were shut because of a debt, not for political affiliation or corruption charges. That was what I was told by the news and AMCON. All your talk about stealing and political appointments are not related to my argument.

If AMCON is to shut down a business for being in debt, they must consider the impact on factors like employment, wages and social dynamics. Two wrongs don't make a right. Unless proven otherwise, I maintain that AMCON should have found a way to get the money back without condemning the masses to further suffering.

You just narrated your own opinion since we still don't know the eventual outcome of this initial move.

Number 1 move is to first put a lien on collateral used to obtain defaulted loans and this is exactly what they did.

The number 2 move is to allow the debtor to come up what cradible payment plans to necessitate the government removing the liens on the collateral.

The number 3 move is to do what you listed if at the end of the day there is no resolution or the debtor can not come up with or negotiate payment plans.

The first step is to show seriousness to get the debtor to the negotiating table, not to do all the things you listed, all that comes after the initial lien and notice.

While all these are happening, what will be happening to the hundreds of Nigerian masses that were working in these companies?

The process started way back 2011....this is 2016.

Servicing the loan would have saved the situation, if AMCON had not bought off the loan from Union bank and it collapsed, do you know how many dreams that would have died with the collapse? He should negotiate and get back his business, it is not as if AMCON has already sold them to someone else. Sometimes people need to be jolted to do the right thing.

Yes, right again. However, AMCON was not shutting down (no dream was going to die there), and it had already bailed Union Bank. There was an opportunity for a more strategic approach in handling this Silverbird case. You called it a jolt. I'm sure that you know that such jolts come with speculatory and micro-economic reactions. You are speaking this way because you are not directly or indirectly connected to those investments.

I maintain that they should have taken a more strategic approach to avoid all these potential losses.

Please explain to us the so called strategic approach they should have take?

I explained it in the same write-up. MAINTAIN THE INVESTMENT BENEFITS AND STILL RECOVER THE DEBT.

There are some ways of doing that;

1. Explore legal options, as is being currently done with MTN.

2. Take over the management of the company instead of shutting it down.

3. Take control of direct servicing of the loans from the profit generated by the companies.

4. Explore possible ways of transferring ownership of the companies to another private sector player than leaving it dormant.

You don't just shut multi-billion naira companies down and damn the spiralling micro-economic effects by leaving them dormant. Yet, you wish for jobs to fall from heaven.

AMCON bought off the bank debt with our collective wealth, even some who can only afford to buy half litre of kerosene to cook are screaming witch-hunt. BMB should negotiate an agreement on repaying the debt and take back his business. Must the masses continue to subsidize the business indiscretion of the rich?

Yes, I agree. BMB definitely needs to repay his debts. That is certain. All I am saying is that considering current negative economic dynamics, AMCON should have taken a more strategic approach to ensure that the benefits of Silverbird investments are retained for the masses, while the investor is made to pay his debt. That is actually not rocket science. They closed the businesses and are just politicizing everything as if they are hurting BMB. Do you know how many dreams died with those investments?

Law and order and conducive environment brings in investments and investors while corruption and lawlessness drives them away..

Ipob logic is always upside down and corrupt logic..

THE CURRENT ENVIRONMENT IS NOT CONDUCIVE FOR BUSINESS IN NIGERIA. No thanks to insensitive political actions. As for Law and Order, there is none at the moment. The law is being trounced at every turn by the government and order is what the government decides that it should be (politically determined).
Most investors are capitalists. They don't invest money to help an economy. Their primary concern is to capitalize on opportunities, whether a country is burning or not. Give them a reason to invest, they will invest without hesitation.

The process of ensuring economic growth is as follows;

1. Government spends money to encourage private investments.

2. Private investments Grow to create jobs.

3. New jobs are created to improve employment rate.

4. Growth in employment rate increases wage rate.

5. Increased wage rate improves domestic consumption.

6. Increase in domestic consumption rate stimulates the generation of more private sector investments and increases rate of tax payment to government.

7. Increased tax payments improve government's income and makes way for more government spending to boost the cycle of economic development.

A national currency is strengthened when supply of goods (domestic production) surpasses demand for goods (domestic consumption) due to enormous rise in private investments, which causes a spike in exportation and subdues the thirst for importation, thereby improving the demand for a national currency.

While doing all of the above, a government must avoid creating a situation where private investors will become scared of the safety of their investments. They must make it easier to register and do business, and they must be very generous (tax holidays) initially, before demanding for tax payment later, as the demand for investment in a country skyrockets.

Why Nigeria's Economy is failing;

1. The current government is very hesitant to spend money to encourage the private sector to invest.

2. The rigid fiscal policy stance of the current government has caused the rise of a command economic type of system where direction of investments is dictated by the government.

3. Investors are scared stiff by the reckless abandon with which government agencies e.g. EFCC gain access to private accounts to freeze and seize.

4. Unethical political conduct in the judicial sector e.g. Illegal political detention is having a spiraling effect on the willingness of investors to believe in the security of their investments.

5. Controlled monetary policy makes investments really scary as the CBN can just wake up and ban the issuance of dollars, thereby stifling the repatriation of capital investments (security of investment)

Case Study:

AMCON recently shut several Silverbird investments. This automatically threw several Nigerians into very harsh economic realities. Government preferred to "lock it down" than to try to "take over management". This news is damaging to "risk taking" investors that may wish to also invest in the economy, thereby keeping them away from that aim. Those that have already invested will panic and embark on cost cutting measures to pay their loans back to banks as soon as possible. This will lead to downsizing, loss of job and income and reduction in tax payment to government in the long term.

FIGHTING CORRUPTION IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR DESTROYING AN ECONOMY. THEY CAN BE DONE SIMULTANEOUSLY.

Amaechi is a politician. Politicians work according to the dynamics in the political context within which they operate. He is trying hard to sound financially prudent and reasonable as expected by his boss; Buhari.

Kachikwu, on the other hand, is a technocrat that understands the importance of "Stakeholder Engagement", "Social Responsibility" and the pertinence of managing "Organized Complexity".

The only anomaly in the video is that "The Politician" is a Minister. Error!

I'd have been surprised and thoroughly impressed if Buhari had gotten anything better than this. This was what I expected from him. However, the man has 3-7 years more to rule Nigeria. He needs all the support that he can get to learn how to move Nigeria forward.

The problem with Nigeria is not corruption. It is mostly LEADERSHIP INEPTITUDE.

People keep asking why Nigeria youths resort to carrying guns. Why won't they carry guns when the security men that should protect them blatantly brandish guns and threaten to shoot them at every slight provocation. In Nigeria, the gun has become a symbol of authority, and it is the only way to control the government from forgetting who voted it into power.

Politics / A 1984 Report On Buhari's Leadership That Sounds Like His Leadership In 2016 by Justcash(m): 1:55pm On Jan 19, 2016
ON BUHARI, NEW YORK TMES WROTE,

"Four months after seizing power, Nigeria’s military leaders appear to be suffering an erosion of popular support.

Last Dec. 31, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Buhari led a group of young officers in a coup against the civilian Government of President Shehu Shagari, saying the takeover was necessary to save Nigeria, Africa’s richest and most populous nation, from economic collapse.

The military intervention appeared at the time to enjoy enthusiastic support from a broad range of Nigeria’s population.

Many intellectuals argued that the corruption and incompetence of the Shagari administration had made drastic action both necessary and inevitable. Traders, merchants and people in the streets welcomed the soldiers and looked forward to a quick improvement in their standard of living.

Growing Disappointment

Recently, however, there seems to be growing disappointment with both the military Government’s approach and pace.

”Since coming to power, this Government has not found a single problem,” said Dr. Olu Onagoruwa, a prominent lawyer and a longtime opponent of the Shagari administration. ”But it has managed to alienate the judiciary, the press, labor and students – all the groups that supported it just a few months ago.”

Critics of the military Government point out that it has yet to present its budget. Loan negotiations with the International Monetary Fund continue but Western economists say that Nigeria and the I.M.F. appear to be further apart now than during the final days of the Shagari administration.

Early indications that General Buhari would agree to devalue Nigeria’s currency, liberalize trade and reduce domestic petroleum subsidies have so far not materialized. Prices Have Climbed

In addition, prices for food and other essential commodities, which fell in the first weeks after the coup largely because of the presence of soldiers in the marketplaces, have now returned to or exceeded their levels before the coup. Unemployment has been rising, and many of the imported raw materials and spare parts needed to keep factories running have been lacking.

Critics note further that political activity and even debate have been banned and some students organizations have been outlawed. There has been a clampdown on Nigeria’s press, and the country’s traditionally independent judiciary has also seen its role sharply diminished.

”At the moment we’re looking at a clear movement toward authoritarian dictatorship,” said Stanley N. Macebuh, executive editor of The Guardian, an independent newspaper that had often taken the Shagari administration to task. ”It’s a trend that disturbs a lot of people, not least those who welcomed the change of government.”

Spokesmen for the military leadership maintain that they know what they are doing and refuse to be rushed. They deny the charges of inaction, saying that steps have been taken. Trials Being Prepared

The Government, they say, has put much energy into investigating the corruption of the Shagari administration and in preparing tribunals to try the accused, close to 500 of whom are now under detention.

Officials say about 2,000 illegal aliens have been ejected from the country and several thousand people have been detained in a crackdown on suspected criminals and Moslem extremists.

They say Nigeria’s bloated bureaucracy has been streamlined through the dismissal of thousands of officials and civil servants.

Three weeks ago an agreement was reached in London on converting a part of Nigeria’s uninsured trade debts into loans.

The Government’s critics respond that the economic initiatives treat symptoms rather than causes and aid the larger issue of how to restructure Nigeria’s economy.

A Western diplomat said General Buhari ”could have accomplished so much if he had moved quickly and boldly in the early days when his popularity was still so high and when he could have credibly blamed everything on Shagari.”
