Well, the financial standing of the movie isn’t really my concern, I had a great movie outing, I saw the best film in the year so far.
End of story.

Have you seen ‘Gods of Egypt’, what do you think of this movie?

Set kills his brother, Osiris to forcefully take over the kingdom from its heir, Horus. Bek, a mortal thief, sides Horus, to help him defeat Set in exchange for bringing back the love of his life back from death before she reaches the afterlife.

Set, who proves unstoppable, goes out of his way to obtain the abilities of other gods and adds to himself, increasing his own powers.
Horus is faced with the uphill challenge of defeating the now invincible Set in a second battle when they meet again.

I’ll stop here for now (I wasn’t paid to promote this movie)

If you loved seeing ‘The Mummy’ back in the day, you’ll definitely love seeing this movie.

How about the financial success of this movie? Not as great as anticipated.

According to Bloomberg.com;

"Gods of Egypt,” a $140 million effects-heavy film from Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., opened in a disappointing second place, making the mythological tale the first big-budget flop of 2016."
TV/MoviesRe: 'Gods Of Egypt'- The Movie | Review by JUSTICEOFFICIAL(op): 8:20am On Apr 06, 2016
Now, to the most enchanting character in the entire film, Hathor. Hathor, according to Egyptian mythology, is the goddess who personified the principles of love, beauty, music, dance, motherhood and joy and I can’t help but profess of how well actress Elodie Yung pulled off this charcter. She brought in the sex appeal, the flirt, the naughty and the brave and still ended as a sacrificial heroine. The ancient Egyptian goddess (mythical) would be proud of her eccentric display and interpretation of her character.

TV/MoviesRe: 'Gods Of Egypt'- The Movie | Review by JUSTICEOFFICIAL(op):
"The survival of mankind hangs in the balance when Set (Gerard Butler), the merciless god of darkness, usurps Egypt’s throne and plunges the prosperous empire into chaos and conflict. Hoping to save the world and rescue his true love, a defiant mortal named Bek (Brenton Thwaites) forms an unlikely alliance with the powerful god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). Their battle against Set and his henchmen takes them into the afterlife and across the heavens for an epic confrontation."

One thing I love about this movie is the characters.

We saw Gerard Butler, darkened up to suit the dark character villain, Set. Though I can see few other actors pulling off this character well, he equally did a great job.

TV/MoviesRe: 'Gods Of Egypt'- The Movie | Review by JUSTICEOFFICIAL(op):
Last month, I was invited to a movie outing and when I was told we were going to see ‘Gods of Egypt’, I was not sure what to expect as I had not previously seen the movie’s preview, I also wasn’t really in the mood to see a movie that evening but I felt I could use a little walk around the mall and so I went.

It was countdown to the start of the film and I was already (secretly) counting down to the end so I could leave (now I’ve had my stroll, I just want to go and sleep) little did I know that this movie will turn out to be my favourite movie (so far) in 2016.

Finally, the movie starts and we hear an intriguing voice narration telling a story from the beginning of time in ancient Egypt and when I saw this movie was based on Egyptian mythology, my senses arosed! Movies like these, be ready to see those exciting elements- Egyptian deities, epic battles, tales of afterlife, costumes, scorpions, statues and monsters!

Before I proceed, here’s the official movie’s synopsis.

CareerRe: How To Deal With A Horrible Boss (continued) by JUSTICEOFFICIAL(op): 6:11am On Apr 04, 2016
If your boss continues to show signs of a horrible boss and you begin to show symptoms of been seriously affected, then you may consider getting yourself a new boss.

CareerRe: How To Deal With A Horrible Boss (continued) by JUSTICEOFFICIAL(op): 6:10am On Apr 04, 2016
(4) Speak Up: Be smart on how you go about this. Try using a technique where you speak from their own point of view and advantage. For example, you can say to a yelling boss, “Please Sir, it’s not good for you to stress yourself, I’ll do my best to fix the problem, please calm down.” This way, you gain his trust by not necessarily proving yourself to be right.

Note two things; one, “the boss is boss” and two, just like the customer, the boss is always right. Any point you make, always try to include a statement that reaffirms that your boss is the head and the one in control.

Speak up only when necessary, make valid points but never make your boss look like a fool.

CareerRe: How To Deal With A Horrible Boss (continued) by JUSTICEOFFICIAL(op): 6:09am On Apr 04, 2016
(3)Stand Firm: An aggressive and yelling boss shouldn’t scare you now you know much about them. When a horrible boss comes yelling, what you need do at first is nod in agreement to what they are saying and allow them vent out. Don’t tremble, things will be much easier for you this way

CareerRe: How To Deal With A Horrible Boss (continued) by JUSTICEOFFICIAL(op): 6:08am On Apr 04, 2016
(2) Give Them What They Want: (In the course of my first tip) you must have studied your boss’ personality and temparament, you should be able to know how they want things done and even beat them to it. For instance, he usually demands for a report on his desk at a certain time, why not try to beat that time with minutes so when he asks, “Is my report rea…”, you (politely) cut in, ” Your report has been prepared a while ago!”

Disable your horrible boss by not giving them the chance to prey on you when they discover you are at a fault.

CareerRe: How To Deal With A Horrible Boss (continued) by JUSTICEOFFICIAL(op): 6:07am On Apr 04, 2016
They’ll be no need to elaborately define who a horrible boss is because as you know, a horrible boss is a boss that does horrible things to you (just as the name implies)

Now, when I say “deal”, I don’t exactly mean you should hire thugs to beat up your horrible boss on his way home or poison his tea like they do in Nollywood movies. Before you take any measures in handling a horrible boss, it is wise to note that there are really no jobs out there and you have to do your best to keep the one you have.

While a horrible boss can make you dread your ‘8 to 5’ every working day, you should still try to look at the good side of this problem; at least, he’s making you work harder on yourself and bringing out the best in you (or the stress…and craze in you, forget I even stated this point)
Let’s begin.

(1) Find Out More About Your Boss: Except you have a job or investment someplace else, the last thing you want to do is retaliate a horrible boss by shouting back at him or doing something violent. Take several steps back to actually study and gather information about your boss (dig up some dirt if you’re into it) but don’t go overboard else you will get caught.

So what exactly are you going to do with all this information?

Well, nothing actually, but you know that feeling when you have so much information about someone that it gives you some sort of confidence such that they no longer scare you anymore? Let’s continue.

I presented my ID and the certificate issuer checked through the remaining certificates and said the most terrifying thing.
“Your certificate is not here…”
“Wait, what?!”
“I said your certificate is not here! Check that other man there.” Pointing to another issuer.

* Okay, am already having a bad day with the thought of my missing phone and lost contacts, there is no way my certificate is missing too*

I walked to the other issuer and presented my ID, my heart raced as he checked through, flipping one certificate after another.
“Justice?” He asked.
“Yes! Justice (… Jesus Christ!)” i answered in fear and relief.
He slipped out my certificate from the remaining few and handed it over to me.

*Phew! It would have been frustrating if my certificate was actually missing, where would I have started from? Now, I just want to go home and think of how to replace my missing phone…I’ve had enough for one day*

I inserted my certificate into a large brown envelope. I placed the large brown envelope into a thick folder and put the thick folder into my bag- zipped and buckled, I guided my bag with all of my strength as I made my way home.

And now, the hustle begins…

On the next episode of…

The Nigerian Graduate & The Hustle.

Episode 2: ‘Scammers’ Prey’

My phone beeped with a text message and it was an interview for a graduate position at a manufacturing company.
“…come with your certificate and CV”
*…I have not the slightest idea what this business idea is all about but let’s see…*
“You must buy product worth of a minimum of 20,000naira”
*…I really can’t continue like this*

“JT…!!” Buchi called out.
“Buchi!” I laughed, happy to see someone I know amongst the large crowd.
“Justice how far, are you just entering?”
“Buchi, my phone is missing!” I let him know.
Not until I dialed my number from Buchi’s phone did I realize that my phone was “officially” stolen when it said “…number switched off.”
It must have fallen off while I was on the fast-moving bike or must have dropped while I was in the bus.

*My phone can’t be missing right now, P.O.P is supposed to be like a fun day not a ‘stress-day’. Using my last ‘allowee’ to replace a missing phone isn’t how I planned to end my service; certainly not. This is a phone I bought a while back with my previous month’s allowance. I’m not going to let it bother me, I’ll just move on with the day’s event*

Standing by, I got a tap and when I quickly turned around, it was Blessing. Blessing is a friend of mine from P.P.A. Just then, I recalled she intended speaking to me on this day, on a somewhat pressing issue.
“Oh! So sorry Blessing, I was supposed to call you but my phone got missing on my way here.” I let her know as well.
“Ah!! Sorry about that, maybe you forgot it at home, check when you get back.” She said in sympathy.
“…I will…but am sure I carried it along. So you wanted to talk to me.” I reminded her.

We moved aside as Blessing spoke to me concerning her plans after collecting her certificate. She told me how she intends going into a business venture and how she also intends getting married soon to a long-time friend she’s been dating but recently she is confused as a new suitor has come on-board and this new suitor seems to be more serious about marrying her and has even gone further to make his plans known to her parents and this has left her in a bit of an undeciding state.

I felt trusted as someone I met during our one year of service could open up to me about such a sensitive matter. I only advised her to go for the suitor who she knows and trusts better and one who supports her future plans and aspirations.

Collection of certificates had commenced and we all were in numerous lengthy queues. Corpers were chatting away and some took selfies. A female corper in front of me went on and on day-dreaming about how she wishes to get a phone call the very next morning informing her to resume work at Shell or a top company (without any application, test or interview)
After several hours under the scorching sun, it got to my turn.

*Finally! I just want to pick up this up this certificate and leave this premises*

“Wetin you carry?” one inquired from me as it got to my turn.
“Oga, it’s just my bag,” I replied.
“Wetin dey inside the bag?”
“It’s just books…and envelope,” I answered again.
“You sure say no be bomb dey inside the book?” he demanded to know and moved to search down to the pages to confirm before letting me through.

Entering into the venue, everyone was making phone calls, trying to know the exact spot on the large venue their friends were. I reached for my phone in my khaki trousers but couldn’t find it; I checked the bag I had come with, not there. I dug into the other endless pockets of the NYSC uniform, still not there! Just then, I sighted an ex-course

LiteratureRe: The Nigerian Graduate And The Hustle (season 1) by JUSTICEOFFICIAL(op): 8:05am On Apr 02, 2016
*Today is my NYSC P.O.P. I am very excited that the end of a stressful one-year program is finally here. No more C.D.S…no more P.P.A attendance marking and sadly, no more monthly allowance*

I hopped on a bike from my house to the bus-stop to board a bus to the venue of my certificate collection, although we are not expecting to do a proper parade due to insurgency-related reasons, everyone will be excited to meet-up again this morning, probably for the last time.

On getting to the venue, an army barrack it happened to be, soldiers everywhere who would query you if you turned your neck in an unusual rotation, I and other arriving corpers approached one of the entrances where we were welcomed by soldiers who thoroughly searched us to make sure we were not in possession of any explosives.

SEASON 1, EPISODE 1: ‘Passing Out Parade’

*Several years ago, I gained admission into one of the Nigerian universities at the age of 16. So determined I was; to finish early with a good grade and at the age of 20, I graduated with a 4.22 CGPA!

I had almost everything I wanted…at least, for an average person, I was unstoppable and ready to conquer the world but little did I know that for a graduate here in Nigeria, life truly begins after your youth service. I was in for a massive shock.
