If you're a creative writer with a vast knowledge in the Nigerian music and also can (effortlessly) write articles based on the subject. Please reach me today via instagram @justiceokwudike Thanks. |
So it seems our Nigerian sweetheart, Olajumoke may be starting her own reality show. The former bread seller took to her instagram page to unveil her new look, a trendy afro-hairdo, while asking fans to wish her good luck in the new reality show project. She also will be having a Vlog series. While it's uncertain what the show will really be about but we can guess it will be centered on her life as a model and actress and all the hassles inbetween. Whatever the case, we certainly wish her the best. Source: http://thenigerianyouthmag.com/2017/06/02/olajumoke-starting-her-reality-show/

Thank you all for sharing your views. For starters, @purity22 went all in, straight to her point and I believe she spoke for many other people. I do agree with @Afonjashapmouth, you wouldn't want to call your exes on events like their birthdays, it will be odd if their new partner finds out. Like someone said on TNY comments section, you don't need to keep their phone number, what if you mistakenly dial their number. Probably, they think it's a tactic to get in touch or getting back together or so. I believe someone somewhere learnt something today, at least I did. |
Our topic for today, “DO YOU CUT ALL TIES WITH AN EX OR MOVE FORWARD AS FRIENDS?” After a breakup, do you cut all relations with an ex, block their phone number, unfollow them on social media and totally delete them from your life or do you move along as friends? Let’s get talking! You can send your comments to www.thenigerianyouthmag.com | BLOG and your views may be published in the new TNY magazine. Each time I recall a project I’ve worked on in the past, I always never cease to amaze myself; it amazes me to think of how I overcame the then hurdles and I was able to conquer and be successful at the end even when most times, I take on multiple roles. You are stronger that you think There’s a power inside of us all, of a magnitude we are yet to fully comprehend. Sometimes, we wait for some other occurrence to happen before unleashing what we possess inside. You’ve probably seen before-and-after photos of people who were overweight during a relationship and after a nasty split, they transform into a fit/toned or more physically attractive personality. You wonder, why didn’t they do this before? Where did all of the strength for transformation come from? Probably, they felt comfortable initially but after a change occurred, they were forced to react to this change; they manage to convert the pain from a heartbreak into a motivational energy to led a fit/healthy lifestyle ( or simply put, “revenge body!”) To unleash the strength within is to be the best you can be, you first need to have confidence, lots of confidence, not external confidence they makes you look or sound cocky, but that inner confidence that makes you believe in yourself. The task ahead of you is never greater than the strength within you. You need to have a vision, your vision coupled with your passion for that particular vision must produce the endurance you’ll need to possess to run with this vision till it is actualized. It may be suprised that at this race, you will discover some inner strength you never thought you had. Excellence must be pursued, it must be wooed with all of one’s might and every bit of effort that we have each day there’s a new encounter, each week is a new challenge. All of the noise and all of the glamour all of the color all of the excitement all of the rings and all of the money. These are the things that linger only in the memory. But the spirit, the will to excel, the will to win, these are the things that endure -Vince Lombardi Wouldn’t it be a pity to leave this earth without actualising your full potential? I mean, what if you were meant to be the next big thing but you never really tried to be first, a “little thing” which would have led to becoming a “big- bigger thing”? The strength to start that venture is within you. The strength to complete that project is within you. The strength to overcome your fears is within you. The strength to quit that addiction that eats you up on the inside, is within you. The strength to be who you are destined to be is within you. Don’t stop dreaming, don’t stop believing. Remember, the world won’t hand over to you want you demand, you have to fight for it! …to be continued. Source: http://justiceokwudike.com/2017/04/05/the-strength-within/ |
We may all know cancer to be a deadly disease but when it becomes a topic of discussion, most of us would rather prefer to waive it, saying “God forbid”. Knowledge is power and as such, to be equipped with the knowledge about this disease can help save your life or that of others. Today, we’ll be discussing about Colorectal cancer. So what exactly is Colorectal cancer? You may ask. Colorectal cancer is a combination of colon cancer and rectal cancer which can both occur together. It is any cancer (growth, lump or tumor) of the colon or rectum. Colorectal cancer can be a benign or malignant. Benign meaning that the tumor will not spread while a malignant tumor consists of cells that can spread to other parts of the body and damage them. What sysymptoms can mmean that one has colorectal cancer? They include: Diarrhea Constipation A feeling that the bowel does not empty properly after a bowel movement. Blood in feces (stools). Pains in the abdomen. Bloating in the abdomen. A feeling of fullness in the abdomen (maybe even after not eating for a while). Vomiting. Fatique (tiredness). Inexplicable weight loss. A lump in the tummy or a lump in the back passage felt by your doctor. Unexplained iron deficiency in men, or in women after the menopause. While the actual reason Colorectal cancer develops in some people and not in some other persons is still not clear, there are however some causative factors as seen below; Being elderly – the older you are the higher the risk is. A diet that is very high in animal protein. A diet that is very high in saturated fats. A diet that is very low in dietary fiber. A diet that is very high in calories. A diet that is very high in alcohol consumption. Women who have had breast, ovary and uterus cancers. A family history of colorectal cancer. Patients with ulcerative colitis. Being overweight/obese. Smoking. Studies show that smoking is significantly associated with an increased risk for colorectal cancer and death. Being physically inactive. Presence of polyps in the colon/rectum. Untreated polyps may eventually become cancerous. Having Crohn’s disease or Irritable Bowel Disease have a higher risk of developing colorectal cancer. (Reference: ‘Medical News Today’) Recently, the ‘Niola Cancer Care Foundation’ founded by Eniola Akintunde, has tirelessly been advocating and creating awareness on colorectal cancer, siting early detection to be paramount. This foundation also holds occasional screening at designated centres to help people detect any (early) signs of cancer. Eniola strongly believes in working together to combat this ailment and a soon-to-be actualised cure. So be informed, be empowered. Spread the word and save a life!

The love game is truly like jackpot, you’re a winner if you hit all of the numbers right, but then again, is this a reality? Finding love, true love, in the first place is not an easy feat. You may love someone but they don’t love you back, you may love someone who loves you back but your genotypes don’t tally or some other circunstances comes in-between or you may really like someone on social media but they live too far away (LOL!) So what’s in it for a heart that seeks true love? Everyone dreams of Mr. or Miss right, one who has ALL of the desired qualities but in the real world, Mr. or Miss right isn’t that one who has all the dream potentials but is one who is right for you. My advice will be to focus on the key potentials you seek in a spouse (while other potentials may come to your favour…or disfavour) There isn’t an absolute formula to love. Some grew in love, some grew out of love. There are couples today who are in bad marriages but in this part of Africa where married couples don’t easily walk out of their vows, they simply “manage” and “endure”. In the end, not everyone will win in this game called love. You can’t have the tall, dark, handsome, rich guy who is polite and treats you like a queen and also belongs to a royal bloodline. Pick your hustle! What do you think about this??

After blessing the marriage (which not everyone shows up to), the wedding reception hall is already filled with guests who are attending basically for food and... What’s so special about a wedding reception anyway? Unnecessary spending of money and time. So I thought, why can’t one have a church service and just share the food and gifts immediately after, and everyone goes home. This way, you get to save a lot of money from renting out a hall and costs of hiring wedding vendors (Not to mean that wedding vendors won’t get jobs, they can still be part of the church service, for example, a wedding decorator can still do some works to beautify the church, the emcee can be called in to be the officiating minister). Also, you get to save a lot of time- time for moving from church to reception, waiting for the reception to kick off and the hours it takes. Speaking of time (and energy), I learnt of a couple who had their introduction, traditional wedding, white wedding and reception party all in one day! (shoot me!), I mean, where would they even get the strength to.... The point is to take out the core segments in the usual reception line-up and incorporate it into the church service to save money, time and energy and keep the stress (and those arguments that always surfaces at every reception) away! The couple would miss out on the money ‘sprayed’ at the reception...? Well, an offering collection for the couple can be done during the church service, this way... At this point, I don’t see why having a wedding reception may be compulsory but since everyone does it, well… Do you think having wedding reception is a must-do? We all have that one hour on Sundays when we just chill out resting from the long stressful week, enjoying every bit of relaxation while fighting the thoughts that tries to remind you that you have to return to work tomorrow. For some reason, Sunday afternoons are usually hot- heat waves like a roaring ocean- but it only makes the cool evenings even more heavenly. Malls and other hang-out spots are filled up at this time, people catching up with their friends, chatting and eating up- fun! Sundays for me (or for other Nigerians for that matter) won’t be complete without “sunday rice”. I just have to eat my Sunday rice (and ‘dodo’). This is the festive dish celebrating Sundays (there’s always a big pot of stew at my house on Saturdays) You can mostly find me indoors on Sundays evenings and when it’s darker, I may decide to go for a walk along the major road to soak up as much fresh air as I can before I get back to prepping for the new week. So tell me, how do you spend your Sunday evenings? Source/ full post; http://justiceokwudike.com/2017/02/12/sunday-evening-rejuvenation/ |
The thoughts of getting to meet someone for the first time on a date can cause the nerves to set in. What do I wear? What do I or do I not say? What do I order? How do I act? These and more, are the questions you ask yourself, after all, the first impression, they say, matters a lot. "You don’t want a bad reputation as a first impression." First thing first- your appearance- how you show up to a date creates the first impression of who you are. You shouldn’t be too uptight or too loose (take into consideration, the place of your meeting) You must be punctual. Showing up late can mean that you don’t respect their time. If for some reason, you show up late, be sure to apologize (heartfeltly) Talk and listen. While at your date, avoid talking too much, you should give your date a chance to speak and express themselves as well. Avoid cutting-in or talking over them. Occasionally maintain eye contact while they speak and nod to show you understand what they say. It’s okay to give complimentary remarks but be honest about it. Don’t say intimate words on your first date, it’s way too soon. "Maybe the reason your date didn’t want a second date was because of the impression you left the first time." Good manners and etiquettes is key. Maintain a good posture while on your date, avoid slouching while sitting or spreading your legs underneath the table. Order for what you can handle, a first date is not the best time for trying out a new dish or drink (stick to what you know) If you need to use the toilet, simply say you need to use the convenience rather than saying ‘toilet’. If you are the one who called for the date, then it is your responsibility to foot the bill. If you are the invited guest, you can as well make a part payment when you decide to spilt the bill with them, if not, you can decide to be the one who tips the waiter or doorman. Courtesy demands that you call your date when you must have gotten back home, to thank them for a wonderful time. Remember to relax and be your true self. Tomatoes contain lots and lots of nutrients that are highly beneficial to our bodies. Usually when I make stew, I indulge in eating one or two tomato balls because this is mostly the time I have tomatoes in the kitchen, aside when making fried eggs. Tomatoes help prevent several types of cancer. The lycopene it contains slows down the growth of cancerous cells. Tomatoes also contain coumaric and chlorogenic acid, these acids works to eliminate the carcinogens that are produced from cigarette smoke thereby countering the negative effects on smokers. Tomatoes contain vitamin C which lowers the levels of stress hormones and strengthens the immune system. Are you tired and stressed out? Have a glass of tomato juice and watch yourself bounce back with strength! Tomatoes cures and prevents constipation. It has high water content and fiber content that works to create bulk in stool. Tomatoes gives you good vision. The vitamin A it contains works to improve your eyesight while the lycopene, lutein and beta-carotene it contains protects the eyes against cataract. Tomatoes intake reduces the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases. Tomatoes contain potassium which when combined with a reduced dietary sodium intake, can help combat high blood pressure. Tomatoes fight diabetes. It contains chromium which works to keep blood sugar levels under control. Tomatoes gives you fine hair and skin. The vitamin C in tomatoes boosts the synthesis of collagen- the protein that makes up the hair and skin. More so, tomatoes are also known to prevent gallstone and have been linked to preventing urinary tract infections. Sometimes, people don’t get jobs not because “there are no jobs”, but because they can’t see them! We know everything is done online nowadays, a majority of job vacancies are posted on the internet, so if you are not looking at all of the right places, your chances of seeing and applying for these jobs are less probable. Some jobseekers don’t get to see these jobs online because some can’t afford their internet subscription. It is for this reason I decided to start this little project. Every month, I’ll give 1,000 naira (equivalent airtime) to a lucky jobseeker so he or she can pay for their monthly subscription. They will use this subscription to diligently search for jobs online, send continuous applications (both solicited and unsolicited) and hopefully, they’ll land a job pretty soon. I’m not doing this because I have lots of money ( I am another hustling young Nigerian) but it will sure give me lots of joy if someone is able to land a job this year or next, through this initiative. This giveaway program will last for the twelve months of this year. Every month, a winner is announced and as with my other giveaways, I’ll ask a general knowledge question ( for example, what date was Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony?) and a lucky number of all correct answers wins. The first giveaway will commence next week. See you then and good luck in your endeavours! Source: http://justiceokwudike.com/2017/01/23/free-internet-subscription-for-job-seekers/ |
I think it's time the youths start making their way into government- youths with a burning passion and a will to see things change for the better. |
|
Where is the love? A government makes promises they never fulfill. The masses are left in poor state- no constant electricity, no good roads, no equipped hospitals, no adequate water suppy, education on the high. Where is the love? Take a stand today, for peace, for unity, for love, love for humanity. |
It'sa so sad that the 2003 hit song, “Where is the love?” by (now defunct) American hip-hop group, Black Eyed Peas, now makes more meaning than it did when it was first released. “People killing, people dying, children hurt and you hear them crying”. We sang along the melodious and persuasive rythm but today we see these things happen on a daily basis. Tune in to the news channel, there’s a report of several people killed somewhere in the world. The world as we know it has become a terror zone. My people in northern Nigeria live in constant fear, bombings- the order of the day. Violence, now a daily act in many parts of the world. Little wonder, the hip-hop group had to do a come-back to make a plea for peace, love and unity through their influence.
