This is for research and data purpose. Pls, no tribalism, just your honest answer.
If you were single or you are still single, which tribe in Nigeria would you marry from apart from your tribe.
Pls no tribal slurs. You may take this opportunity to highlight what you admire about the tribe also.
Thanks. |

itsme01: How a bored child of hate looks for trouble with his 2 kobo data , instead of going for research that would better his life and give a smile on his mother's face amazes me
Someone should tell this ape when First school was built in Nigeria , Yoruba land so he can know at 1919 Yoruba weren't their Mpkuri smoking monkey ancestors mate Insults cannot change history. You should take your own advice and research. And you are a big fool for bringing my mother into this because of a harmless write up. |

But how come no king can bestow a 'Yoruba title' today other than the Alaafin? Not even the Ooni. What about the discriminations I alluded to especially by the Ibadan against Ijebu in the 50s? |

Cause we all see ourselves as the Children of Oduduwa All "Yorubas" are not from Oduduwa. Stop saying ignorance. |

SlayerForever: I think there is a need to now properly identify every unique group under the wrongfully ascribed Yoruba umbrella. Tribes should be allowed to be distinct and chart their unique course and not have their identities gagged under a fictitious "Yoruba" tag. Exactly! Thank u. |
Politics › Re: Oyo Is "Yoruba" by Justmesagi(op): 7:08pm On Nov 21, 2021 |
aribisala0: We already know all of that.
Nothing new.
Being Yoruba 100 years ago referred to Oyo and their close cousins and that is why Oyo was called an "empre" because it was successful in controlling many other OLukumi nations
The evidence for this is clear in Benin Republic where Ajase natives and other "Yoruba" groups are called "ANAGO"
However Nigeria has forced similar groups to coalesce and reidentify themselves as "Yoruba" So in 2021 the term Yoruba has a different meaning from what it meant 100 years ago ( IN NIGERIA)
So the OP has said nothing new and young people should not abuse him. If his aim is to taunt or undermine then that pregnancy has been aborted
Young Yoruba people educate yourselves and do not be shaken by haters
For those who care to research
I have said as much on Nairaland in the past several times May your days be long, sir. These young Yorubas should learn more about their history. |
Politics › Oyo Is "Yoruba" by Justmesagi(op): 5:55pm On Nov 21, 2021 |
Prior to 1919 when the colonialists convened a conference and implored every tribes that would later comprised the Western region to adopt a common identifier, Yoruba, various tribes in the region had always identified by its individual names.
Some may want to argue that the tag "Yoruba" predates 1919 far back to the era of Ibn Batuta, who mentioned the name in his work. Well, my contention is not when the name itself came into existence but the false revisionism that it has always been used to refer to the good people occupying the geographical space of the South West today and affiliated areas. No it wasn't.
This was why Ooni Ademiluyi, the 1919 king of Ife, refused the Yoruba tag until he was prevailed upon to accept the tag.
This is why today, only the Alaafin of Oyo can give out a title and designate such as "of Yoruba land" but other Obas in the so called Yoruba land cannot do the same.
This was why FFK was rejecting the tag few years ago and instead chose to be addressed as "Anago".
This was why Reno Omokri claimed the original name of the language known by Yoruba today was "Edekiri".
This was why Adelabu penkelemesi, an Ibadan man in the 50s, campaigned heavily against Awo, an Ijebu, citing his non Yorubaness to the Ibadan people then who gave their votes to IPP, Adelabu's party.
This was why Adelabu later formed Egbe Omo Yoruba that metamorphosed into a political party just to counter Awo who had earlier founded Egbe Omo Oduduwa.
Egba is Egba, ijesa is Ijesa, Akoko is Akoko.............................. and Oyo is Yoruba. |

Penguin2: I understand every of your analysis. And you are right that eastern political leaders need to seek Tinubu’s face and cut some deals with him.
Meanwhile, I keep mentioning Tinubu because to a large extent, he influences where majority of Southwest votes should go.
And about building APGA becoming a dominant regional party, that is tentative because we don’t tend to agree on things like that down here but that doesn’t make it impossible.
For now, let’s focus on the politics of 2023. Ok bro. Thank you for your time. |
Politics › Re: Would You Rather Vote Another Fulani? by Justmesagi(op): 5:39pm On Nov 10, 2021 |
Penguin2: Majority of Yoruba sentiments is not favourably disposed to concede the presidency to the Igbos because of the kind of rhetorics that the Yoruba leaders like Tinubu have engaged with the Yoruba populace. But even that too can still be changed. Tinubu being leader of the political structure, can decide to speak to their conscience and make them understand why it’s necessary to concede power to Ndigbo in 2023. I don’t see them saying no.
About our political leaders not reaching out to Tinubu, that is because Tinubu himself does not look as if he is disposed for any entreaty from Southeast.
Check the record of his itinerary since 2015 for instance. How many events has Tinubu attended in the Southeast and Southsouth since 2015? None. This is somebody who is always at northern events.
Even his SWAGA. They are campaigning everywhere else except Southeast and Southsouth.
So how do you send political emissaries to somebody like that? Thank u for this your logical analysis. Thanks for the bolded too. I like someone who shuns tribal emotions while discussing issues like this unlike some of our brothers here. Yes, you are right but Eastern leaders need to reach out to him. They need to make him see the benefits of allying with them instead of Fulani. They need to reassure him and draw an agreement and commitment from him. Secondly, it shouldn't necessarily be Tinubu. Since the Fulanis will not allow the East to take a chance at the presidency in the two most popular party, Eastern leaders too should build a party like APGA to a formidable level (at least winning all states in the East will do) in the East and then use it to form an alliance with another party from the West or North when opportunity comes. They can then have all chest and mouth to negotiate and get the presidential ticket. Shey u get me? |

Nicetry: Sound like you are the one that is emotional here Tell me, who are you to tell igbo people who to vote. Is igbo people in the same party with you. Just like u people were in opposition in 2015 and built bridge then claiming political sufferstication, we are going to build bridge in 2023. You and this your white and black perception. Perhap, igbos will learn political sophistication and building bridge in 2023 Chai! May you not lose on two fronts. |

Tinubu has many Igbo boys even Joe igbokwe let him back one Sir, forget my tribe. Some Yorubas here even want to know because I told them the truth. You mean Tinubu should just call Igbokwe one morning and tell him to start preparing for Aso rock? He should just tell Northerners and the rest of the party shareholders that Igbokwe must be their candidate? Stop talking like a kid. There are many considerations. Haha! |
Politics › Re: Would You Rather Vote Another Fulani? by Justmesagi(op): 2:58pm On Nov 10, 2021 |
Nicetry: So you voted fulani man who has a negative antecedent then to spite Jonathan to put the whole nation in disarray for your own selfishness We are talking about politics here not emotion. Tinubu is in APC and Jonathan is in PDP. Tinubu as an opposition and a strategist will be lurking for an opportunity to debase Jonathan politically in his region and nationwide. This was and is still expected of Tinubu as an opposing politician. If Jonathan had carried the Southwest along like he did the Easterners and Northerners, Tinubu wouldn't have had an opportunity to give Buhari almost 55% of Southwest vote. Or are you not aware that Jonathan had like 45% votes in the southwest despite his disdain for the region? |

Your leaders are talking another thing u are here trying to play who ? LMAO I am not speaking for Yoruba here, pls. Just trying to be logical. What prompted the North to allow two Southerners to contest in PDP primary that birth OBJ as the PDP presidential candidate in 1999? Facts are there. |
Politics › Re: Would You Rather Vote Another Fulani? by Justmesagi(op): 1:51pm On Nov 10, 2021 |
Penguin2: Chances are slim because the Yorubas are insisting on contesting.
Have you imagined what will happen if Tinubu should make a public statement and throw his weight behind Igbo presidency?
Then both APC and PDP would have Igbo men as candidates.
Would the chances still be slim? Tinubu is not synonymous with Yoruba. He has a political structure and that structure is majorly comprised by the Yoruba. So he will consider their sentiments in other not to offend them. As it is, I am not sure the majority Yoruba sentiment is favourably disposed to conceding the presidency to the Igbos that will then prompt Tinubu their leader to throw his weight behind an Igbo candidate. Secondly, are your political leader reaching out to him? Are they keen on working with him? Are they ready to ally with him? No! This is politics without emotion. |

mrvitalis: Then let yorubas support Igbo presidency You are so naive. Map out a plan and strategize to achieve it as the Yorubas did. Remember they were in the opposition before 2015. They even forgo a house of rep position to achieve their goal. It is a long run plan, not as impulsive as u are taking it. The Fulanis will never trust igbos with power. Your years of labor in the PDP without you being considered worthy enough attests to this. Your political leaders should form alliance and negotiate with the rest of the South. I know they will work something out. This hatred for Tinubu is beclouding your sense of politics. |

Politics › Re: Would You Rather Vote Another Fulani? by Justmesagi(op): 12:22pm On Nov 10, 2021 |
ahaika23: Op tries so well to keep his cool in response to replies, this opens a line of conversation and I like it.
I will speak for myself, as a Christian and southerner, let us be true to ourselves. We are divided along ethnic and religious lines clearly, the political divisions at some point intertwine that is why you have members of a political party voting for another party during elections so won’t be considering the political divide.
Truly, there was once a time that the Yorubas sold and preferred a nepa bill certificate holder to GEJ, throwing every caution to the wind. Make no mistake, this is not forgotten and the ijaws and entire southerners are still very bitter about it moreso given the full scale hardship spread across the people, it is a constant reminder.
Also, the igbos have shown a track record of hardwork, success and resilience, creating wealth from nothing, but strangely enough, they are the one tribe yet to lead the nation amongst other tribes yet. Then again, the Yorubas have been president not too long ago.
Every right thinking Nigerian with a conscience knows this truth that the igbos should lead the country, and among other things, save the disrepair that the Fulani leader has imparted in the nation. If you see this truth as unacceptable to you, then you are also a part of the problem we have.
There are igbos in APC, why are they only pushing Tinubu forward? Because the igbos there already know they can never be given the chance.
If I am faced with Tinubu and Atiku, assuming Atiku takes the ticket of PDP, in all honesty, I will emotionally wholeheartedly vote in Atiku. Because, Tinubu has no business being a president. His insistence on inflicting us the pain called Buhari is all the reason never to give him my vote. I have not talked of his kleptomaniac tendencies which necessitates his need for bullion vans.
If APC presents Femi Adesina and PDP presents Atiku, I will vote Femi without thinking twice. Clearly you can see I have nothing against a Yoruba who has a great track-record. Thank you! So balance whitout emotional tantrum. |

Or you think the Igbo won’t win with Yoruba support?
Is there no Igbo man with the capacity to do the things you enumerated? Bros, Igbo man full ground remain for all these wey i mention, no lies. But as we dey now e be like say chance dey slim for igbos to presidency. So as u can see, it's a comparison between Yoruba and Fulani. Let's be honest bro. |

Think! The Yorubas are much more open to negotiation than the Fulanis who are authoritative. They will listen to your plight and try to address it. The Yorubas are much more diplomatic than the Fulanis who are forceful. They will not "treat you in the language you understand" like Buhari threatened. They are much more civilized than the Fulanis whose representative in the person of Buhari is finding grazing route in the 21st century. They will introduce developmental policies that will move the country forward irrespective of region. I believe they have much more tendency to follow the rule of law and address the default in federal character created by this nepotic government. They match the Fulanis in being cunning and are much more intelligent than the Fulanis. They will deal with the Fulani stealthily. Don't be emotional. Think, think, think about your unborn child. Think about your people. |

omoharry: Over my dead body if are to choose only between a Tinubu Vs Atiku .Non of them abeg . If we vote in Tinubu.. He might end up like Buhari ,who has made London his second home for his medical treatment. He is frail and not strong with the kind of problem that Nigeria is facing ..we need strong president with his full thinking faculty intact ..haba! . On the other hand , voting an Atiku, would enboldened the evil Fulanis' much more. This time around ,they will spit on our faces & tell us to do our worse, becos they have people backing them from above .Then the raping of our women & children will increase .They will continue to kill our farmers, and take possession of Thier crops & land for Thier cows to graze on and still ask us not to complain, nor seek any protective measures against them . Since it a taboo for the Fulanis to rebuke or confront thier kins men or call them to order when they have erred , then I suggest we hold on to A southern president for now , since we are currently under the occupation of the backward northern rule . .. For God's sake, we have an Osibanjo, Femi Adeshina, Peter Obi, Moghalu and so many capable hands that credible , strong and have the thinking cap to lead this country . Why are you asking us to choose between the Devil and the red blue sea ? Tinubu Vs Atiku is like that . Both are bad choices for us . Nigeria is going nowhere with either of these two men in power . I am surprised that a third force has still not been able to emerge & to bring in a new face that is worthy and credible to lead this great nation . Why must we be left to choose only between with two old hags ? Your view is balance but I didn't particular my write up about Tinubu and Atiku. Pls reread it. Do you mean Femi Adesina the Buhari trumpet? I prefer Moghalu amongst all but his platform is not popular so it's futile. |
