Politics / Why Apc Is Stronger Than Pdp. (ref: Bull ) by Juve4(m): 12:07pm On Aug 23, 2016
WHY APC IS STRONGER THAN PDP.
1. It took PDP 16 years to make a dollar = N197,
but it took APC just 1 year to make a dollar
N405.
2. They said It took PDP 16 years to destroy Nigeria, but it
took APC just 1 year to massacre, dismantle, kill
and bury Nigeria. ...
3. It took PDP 16 years to make fuel price N87/
litre, kerosene at N100/litre and diesel at N115/
litre. But it took APC 1 year to make petrol N145/litre,
kerosene at N210/litre and diesel at N300/litre.
4. It took PDP 16 years to make Nigeria corrupt,
but it took APC just 1 year to make Nigeria
Fantastically corrupt.
5. It took PDP 16 years to stabilize the price of rice at
N7,000 per bag, but took APC 1 year to project it
to N22,000 per bag.
6. It took Jonathan 5yrs to travel to 15 countries,
but it took Buhari 1 year to travel to 30 countries.
7. It took PDP (Jonathan) 5years to domesticate agricultural products with huge exports but it took APC one year to import grasses from Brazil and nothing more.
8. It took PDP 16years to apply resounding
economic policies that made banks grow, but
took APC 1 year to apply policies which they beg
banks not to sack more staff.
CONCLUSIVELY; I am beginning to think that
while PDP is better in administration, APC is
better in opposition, that's why APC is still
campaigning, blaming, promising and playing
opposition party despite being the Ruling party
after one year....‎

Business / Sun International Joins South African Exodus From Nigeria by Juve4(m): 5:18pm On Aug 22, 2016
By Nqobile Dludla

JOHANNESBURG, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Hotel and gaming group Sun International has become the latest South African business to pull out of Nigeria because of weak economic growth and clashes with regulators and shareholders in the west African country.
In January, Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) launched a probe into Sun International's initial investment in the Tourist Company of Nigeria (TCN) , which owns and operates the 5-star Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.
Sun International, which also reported on Monday a 20 percent fall in diluted adjusted headline earnings per share (AHEPS) to 628 cents for the year to June, said The Federal Palace had been hit by slow economic growth, low oil prices, the threat from militant group Boko Haram and a weakening naira.

"The board has decided to exit Nigeria and steps will be taken to achieve this in a manner that does not erode further value," the company said in a statement.
"Continued setbacks in Nigeria as well as the ongoing shareholder dispute have frustrated all attempts to develop and improve the property," it added.

Sun International bought a 49 percent stake of the Nigerian Stock Exchange-listed TCN in 2006, becoming the largest single shareholder. In recent years, Sun has been drawn into a dispute within its fellow shareholder, the Ibru family.
The company's decision to exit Nigeria follows food and clothing retailer Woolworths and Tiger Brands, which sold its loss-making Nigerian arm to Dangote Industries.

Nigeria, Africa's largest economy, is suffering its worst financial crisis in decades as a slump in oil revenues hammers public finances and the naira. The central bank governor has said recession is likely.

Analysts said Sun International's dispute with fellow investors was at least as important in its decision to leave.
"They are in a way stuck in a problematic arrangement on the property and it's been very difficult for them to create value there. It certainly makes sense for them to reduce exposure to Nigeria," said Avior Capital Markets analyst De Wet Schutte.
"Nigeria is a difficult place to build a business."
CEO Graeme Stephens said the exit could take a year or two, and the company was no longer committed to expanding in Africa.
"We've been strategically exiting Africa for a couple of years and what was left was Nigeria. We're not looking anywhere else in Africa," Stephens told Reuters, adding the company would focus on growing its Latin America business.
In June, Sun said it was disposing its remaining minority interests in Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and Swaziland to Minor International Public Company.

Shares in Sun International were down 0.47 percent by 1139 GMT.
Reporting its results, the company said poor economic conditions in South Africa resulted in revenue growth at casinos of only 0.8 percent to 7 billion rand ($515 million).

"In South Africa, the economic environment remains a serious concern. We do not anticipate any meaningful growth in gaming revenue until there is a recovery in the economy and renewed consumer confidence," Stephens said.
The South African Reserve Bank expects the economy to flatline this year, due to a drought and falling commodity prices.

Politics / Edo PDP, APC Bicker Over Obaseki’s Missing Certificates by Juve4(m): 10:04am On Aug 16, 2016
The Peoples Democratic Party and its All Progressives Congress counterpart in Edo State on Monday traded words over the academic certificates of the governorship candidate of the APC, Godwin Obaseki, which he allegedly declared missing in a sworn affidavit.

The state chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, during a campaign rally on Cooke Road in Benin, raised concerns over claims by Obaseki that he lost the original copies of his academic credentials.

Orbih, who displayed a document which he said was a copy of the affidavit sworn to at an Abuja High Court, stated that Obaseki had claimed that he lost the original copies of his primary, secondary, university and National Youths Service Corps’ discharged certificates at a date that was not given.

According him, the APC candidate had in the affidavit dated June 7, 2016, allegedly claimed that, “all originals of my above said certificates are kept in a safe custody in my office but, unfortunately, during the process of relocating from one office to another, I misplaced the original of the above said original documents.”

He had also said that Obaseki claimed that he had the photocopies of his secondary, university and NYSC discharge certificates.

Orbih, therefore, challenged him to tell Edo people the whereabouts of his credentials.

But the Obaseki campaign organisation dismissed the statement as false and an act of “chasing shadows.”

Orbih said, “The reasons he (Obaseki) advanced are so flimsy and unconvincing. There are many questions begging for answers. The affidavit does not contain the locations of where he was moving from and to or the state where he lost the certificates.

“Did he report to the police when he lost the certificates? If it was reported at the time they got missing, we want him to tell us.”

He continued, “One will expect that he must have reported the matter to the police. If he did, why did he not attach a copy of the police extract?

“We also do not understand the choice of an Abuja High Court. Did he do that so that Edo people will not know that he claimed he lost his certificates? Is it not unusual that someone will keep his certificates in the office?

“We don’t want to have a careless governor who will misplace vital state documents and give flimsy excuses. Edo State deserves a better person.”

The Deputy Director (Communication, Media and Publicity) of the Obaseki Campaign Organisation, Greg Ogiogwa, in a statement on Monday evening said the affidavit was self explanatory.

Ogiogwa explained, “It is an old trick used by the PDP that has always failed them. They did it to (Adams) Oshiomhole. They did it to (Muhammadu) Buhari and now it is the turn of Obaseki.”

Politics / Suspects Arrested Are DSS Moles, Not Our Members- Avengers by Juve4(m): 3:29pm On Jul 02, 2016
*Dares DSS to parade suspects before pressmen

Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, notorious militant group in the oil rich Niger Delta region, Saturday, debunked claims by the Department of State Services, that it has arrested some of its members, saying those arrested were DSS moles. In a statement posted on its website, the NDA, which has blown oil and gas installations across the Niger Delta region, said the SSS should grant reporters access to suspects in its custody to substantiate its claims that those arrested were members of the militant group.

The SSS had said in a statement, on Friday, disclosed that two members of the Avengers were arrested as a result of intensified surveillance it recently put in place to forestall criminal activities across the country. The statement, signed by Tony Opuiyo, also said some members of the separatist Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, as well as other criminal elements in different hideouts across the country, were also arrested in the operation which lasted throughout the month of June. The secret police said Christian ‘Sensor’ Oluba and Selky Torughedi were the two individuals with alleged ties to the Avengers who were apprehended while plotting to launch an attack on an oil installation

But in a statement signed by its spokesman, Mudoch Agbinibo, the Avengers faulted the Director General of the SSS, Lawal Daura, for trying to fool President Muhammadu Buhari by giving him a false sense of comfort over the situation in the region. Mr. Agbinibo said the individuals arrested were, in fact, SSS moles whom the department only arrested and labeled criminals after they demanded payment for the clandestine operations they had carried out for the country. “The boys have the right to demand for their money from SSS, why not pay them instead of arresting and labeling them as Niger Delta Avengers members?” “If the SSS are denying this, let them allow the suspects to speak to the press. We (Niger Delta Avengers) don’t have any connection with these boys. We dare the SSS to allow the boys to tell the world their side of the story,” Agbinibo said.

He admonished security outfits to desist from “feeding” Mr. Buhari a false narrative about activities across the region, saying the war against oil vandals would not be won if they remained economical with the truth. “SSS and Nigerian Army can’t win the Niger Delta war by feeding their President with false information about situation of things in the Region. “It’s all good because as it seems the SSS is now having internal crisis with most of their sleeper agents and it’s a sign that God is on our side,” Agbinibo said. The Avengers also decried Mr. Daura’s alleged indifference to the truth, saying the security chief should imbibe the teachings of his faith as a Muslim. “This is to SSS Director Lawal Daura, this the holy month of Ramadan and as a Muslim you hold it to Allah and the Nigeria people to say the truth.

Why not come out with the truth?” The Avengers’ spokesman, therefore, urged the authorities to sort out their matter with the informants, adding that President Buhari should focus on more important issues in the Niger Delta. “The Nigerian Army will never get us (Niger Delta Avengers), let them go and settle with their sleeper agents and stop deceiving the general public and their President. “There are problem in the Niger Delta region such as underdevelopment, environmental degradation, lack of infrastructure and the issue of self-determination.

“These are the areas Mr. President should focus on, not arresting their allies and linking them to Niger Delta Avengers,” the Avengers said.

Politics / Breaking: Fayose Opens Up, Explains How His Election Was Funded by Juve4(m): 4:32pm On Jun 22, 2016
Following allegation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, justifying its freezing of the Zenith bank of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, over alleged tracing of funds from the office of the National Security Adviser, to the accounts of Messrs Fayose and Musiliu Obanikoro, ex-Minister of State for Defence, Governor Fayose on Wednesday, denied the allegations.

The EFCC had alleged that the funds, amounting to about N4.7billion, was moved from accounts operated by two of Mr. Obanikoro’s sons where it was transferred to Mr. Fayose’s Zenith Bank Account in Ado-Ekiti. But Fayose in a swift reaction said his 2014 election was funded by Zenith Bank Plc, fund raisers, donations from friends and associates, as well as sales of campaign souvenirs.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Governor Fayose said: “I have no financial transaction whatsoever with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd) and former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro either by cash, cheque or electronic transfer.” Fayose challenged the anti-graft agency to publish statements made by Musiliu Obanikoro, his son or other persons associated with funds from the NSA’s supposedly used for his governorship election. He said: “EFCC is only acting a movie scripted, produced and directed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of President Mohammadu Buhari just to silence me being a major opposition voice in the country.”

On the alleged involvement of President Buhari’s wife, Aisha, in
the Williams Jefferson bribery scam, the governor challenged the president’s wife to visit the United States of America to convince Nigerians that she was not the Aisha Buhari mentioned in the judgment. “It is on record that the President has visited USA three times and his wife did not travel with him. She ought to have visited USA last year September to chair a United Nation programme but she sent the wife of the Senate President, Mrs Toyin Saraki to represent her. “I advise that they should keep their gun pounder dry and wait till the end of my tenure in 2018 and I want to assure them that I will be available to answer any of their questions, no matter how unreasonable.” He added: “Furthermore, Nigerians should know that I have been persecuted by the EFCC before, using phantom N1.2 billion poultry scam and I came out victorious. I was not only acquitted, I got N10 million judgment against the EFCC and my impeachment that was orchestrated by the EFCC was quashed by the Supreme Court.

“Nigerians should recall that it was part of this plot to get back at me because of my critical stance on Buhari’s government that the Ekiti State House of Assembly was invaded by men of the Department of State Service (DSS), placement of travel ban on me and lately, illegal frozen of my account by the EFCC. “I therefore make bold to state that in the overall interest of democracy and well-being of Nigerians, I will continue to speak my mind on issues bordering on governance in Nigeria. I will not be intimidated.”

Politics / N91m Fraud: Suspect Dies In EFCC Custody by Juve4(m): 8:00pm On Jun 10, 2016
Desmond Nunugwo, a suspect who was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over allegations of fraud, has died after spending six hours in EFCC custody. Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesman, disclosed this on Friday, saying Nunugwo was taken into custody on Thursday, but died a few hours later.

Uwujaren said Nunugwo’s demise was confirmed at a hospital where he was rushed to after he suddenly took ill. “The late Nunugwu allegedly fraudulently obtained N91m from an acquaintance after he tricked her into believing that he had high net worth business associates in Dubai, United Arab Emirates who were at the verge of buying Nicon Insurance and convinced her of their disposition to help her stock fish business,” Uwujaren said in a statement.

“Consequently, she wired N91m into Nunugwo’s nominated account (Mainagge General Merchants) in Diamond Bank. After the transfer of the funds, Nunugwo became evasive forcing the complainant to report the transaction to the EFCC.” “Consequently, Nunugwo was arrested in Utako, Abuja at about 5:33pm on Thursday, June 9, 2016. His statement was taken, where he admitted receiving the money from the complainant, with the additional information that he transferred N30m of the said money to Norway. But he could not explain the whereabouts of the balance of N61m. “The suspect was detained at about 7:30pm, in the absence of anybody to take him on bail.

“Six hours later, he suddenly complained of discomfort and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.” Uwujaren said after his arrest, the suspect confessed to transferring N30 million out of the money to Norway, but could not account for the balance. He added that the incident had already been reported at Wuse police station in Abuja, where investigation has commenced.

Politics / Letter To China: DSS May Invite Ekiti Chief Of Staff, Others For Questioning by Juve4(m): 9:54am On Jun 10, 2016
..We are not bothered —

GOV’s AIDE By Ben Agande

Abuja—The Department of State Services may invite the Chief of Staff to Ekiti State governor, Mr Dipo Anisulowo, a lawyer; Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Segun Adewumi; the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Gboyega Aribisogan; the Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Dr. Samuel Omotosho; and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, to explain their role in the letter addressed to President Xi Jinping of China, asking the latter to stop a loan of $2 billion to Nigeria ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari visit to China last April.

A highly placed official of the Service told Vanguard in Abuja yesterday that the service is considering the move to weigh the security implications of the actions of the aides. He had alleged in the letter that “the government of China should be mindful of the fact that Nigerians, irrespective of their political and religious affiliations, are totally opposed to increment of the country’s debt burden, which is already being serviced with 25 per cent of the Federal Government annual budget.” Then Governor Fayose allegedly followed up on the letter with a visit to China to press home his request. In a swift reaction, Lere Olayinka told Vanguard; ‘’We are not moved. We are not bothered. ‘’While in opposition, APC elements petitioned the US government and other world powers not to sell arms to the PDP government of Dr Goodluck Jonathan to fight Boko Haram, alleging human rights abuses, no one was charged for treason.

‘’Even President Buhari made several inflammatory statements, one of which was that “the war against the Boko Haram sect was injustice against the North,” he was not arrested nor tried for treason.

‘’They can try whatever they can to stop the opposition from having a voice but they won’t succeed. Nothing will stop Governor Fayose from speaking his mind on national issues. ‘’As for me, Lere Olayinka, I fear no arrest, I fear no detention, I fear no imprisonment.”
