My additional advice is that it is better to obtain first degree in Economics and add professional qualifications and/orsecond degree in Finance.

Economics is wider and as an fresh Econs grad you will fit into more roles, and dare I say, have better prospect, than a fresh Finance grad.

Well i did Economics in my first degree and NOW i'm planing for my Msc in Finance, do you think it's better i do Msc Economics OR would you say Msc finance is just fine.
secondly, I hope Msc Finance would not be as Mathematically inclined as Msc Economics. is thinking of hat to do... pls i need your advice... OR what if i just go for msc Buz Admin. I want something simple in masters level, but not MBA.

735 i: Since you intend to pursue a PHD programme in the future...best bet is for you to stick to your MSc degree...However, i reall do not understand why your would want to do an MSc in Economics. Why not do an MSc in something more specific? Like Finance or Risk Management? These specializations will give you an edge if you decide to go into the corporate world before you pursue your Phd.

hailbond: Basically, MBA is an abbreviation for Masters in Business Administration. However, there's no much difference between MSC and MBA other than,if u want to be a lecturer or be any teaching field, is ideal for you to go for MSC, otherwise, MBA is very alright in alternative.

Nairalanders please i need your advice, I graduated from the Dept of Economics, university of Ilorin with 2:2 and i applied for Msc Econs in 2011. After the school collected 25,000plus on application, they failed to give admission to any Economics student. as they said their was a problem they wanted to rectify in the dept. More than 60 applicants for Economics, and our money was not refunded. i didn't apply last year because i was furious about that, but now that i want to re-apply, I heard that Msc Economics student spend not less than 4years no matter how good they are in Uni-Ilorin. My questions are:
1. Does this not graduating on time of Msc. Economics students happen in all schools?
2. As I did Economics in my first degree, can I change to Msc Business Admin, if so what may be the implication. please I know the difference between Msc and MBA but i dont want MBA.

Well. i happen to be from Isanlu, where it happened. a lot of guyz here are making blind comments. the perpetrator has been arrested.The family and guidan of the deceased are absolutely innnocent. She was brutally murderd by a young mechanic who's shop is located in front of the deceased home. she voluntiad to stay at home and sell the retail goods and pure water in their shop when others were going for the wedding. The mechanic confessed after much torture that he wanted to rape the girl, but she resisted, he bathered the girl, had her murdered in the process, dumped her in the freezer and ran away from the town but he was traced and arrested because of his co-incidental dissapearance. the most unfortunate thing is that almost everybody in the community had been arrested and tortord by the police, including the innocent family members and guardians. the police put innocent people behind the bars for almost 2 weeks. too sad. the muderer is not fron Isanlu. he only settled there. please dont spoil the name of this good town. may the girl's soul rest in peace.
