The Turks offer salary of more than 1 million dollars per year for top foreign recruits. That too tax free .

Although you won't pay everyone up to that. You're talking top quality talent. I'm sure it is the talent working with TAI and Rokestan they pay that much for.

For the guys in Land systems it cannot be that high.

There are so many quality talents available for 60,000 - 120,000 dollars a year salary.

We can improve our land, Drone, Ship and Surveillance systems production with that.

Pay is a motivating factor. This is why the Nigerian Defence Industry needs to be private sector led.

This is what I think should be done. The Nigerian government should guarantee that a certain amount budgeted for procurement hardware yearly should go to Nigerian Defence contractors.

For example, the 1 billion dollars released for the procurement of hardware. The government can set aside 200 million dollars for Nigerian Defence Manufacturers.

That why companies can employ talent from abroad, knowing that a percentage of defence contracts will come to local companies.

Similar to the Local Content Law in Nigeria's oil and gas industry. Now you see that local Nigerian companies in the oil & gas industry can explore for oil, drill the oil, store the oil in FPSO, transport the oil to land, and sell. All these because of the local content law.


We can replicate this in the defence industry.

With regards to Nigeria producing military equipment, we have made good progress, and their is a lot of private sector participation.

However, if we want to really progress, we need to copy the Turkey model. The Turks imported a lot of engineers from around the world from big companies like Boeing, Airbus, Raytheon, Lockheed martin, EADS, from South-Korea also. These engineers built in Turkey and passes on the knowledge to local Turkish engineers. This why you are still very competitive while passing transfer of knowledge.

I saw somewhere that it's Niger ....
We just assumed it's Chad that is acquiring it all the Same.. we'll find out this year, Delivery will certainly start this year

Well, Nigeria has plans to purchase at least 1 submarine. It is part of the recently approved 1.3 billion dollars maritime security plan by the National Assembly.

Some aspects of the plan have began, we are building Seaward Defence Boat 3, they Hydrographic Ship from France, Helicopters from Italy etc etc

However I don't think we would go ahead with the submarine for now, COVID-19, oil price fall, not a priority.

We cannot build submarines in Nigeria as we don't have the expertise to do that, we are just growing.

This is "Striker Arab". He is a Nigerian soldier operating in the North East against the Terrorists ravaging our country.

I usually go to his page to see battle field images.

I've never met him before and he did not ask me to do this.


I went to his page today to see images as usual and I came across this heart wrenching video. His mother is sick and needs a kidney transplant.

I cried when I saw the video.

Please we can use this platform to support him, let us donate, no matter how small. Even if it is common 2k or 5k.

These soldiers are also ordinary people like us.
