GreenandGold: Avoid using words like "better, best, most" in the same sentence with "Africa"... Patriotism is rife here. I'll better say, one of the more advanced helicopters in the African continent. |

Patchesagain: Financial problems mate... the whole Government is cutting spending and during peace-time Defence allways gets hit the worst (unless you are Botswana).
The first ship will be ready within 18 months of the contract being signed. Okay, thanks. |

The current administration increased the number by 12.
We are also expecting JF17 thunder to be delivered before the first quarter of this year. The Buhari government increased the number by 6. We now have the most advanced attack helicopter in Sub-Saharan Africa. |

Henry240: Point of correction, not people, people is a broad term. Your question should be why do South-Africans display so much stupidity and type bullshiit in this thread?.
My solution is, you ignore them, let them remain in the dump they belong. It works well for me. I agree. |

M14A1: You can't educate everybody. Keep posting, a lot of us appreciate your work. Anybody who goes about telling you a polish made beryl assault rifle fires a 5.45×39mm needs a proper education on arms. This is what bidexiii is saying. He clearly has no idea what he's talking about. |

bidexiii: It's of no point arguing with you. You have no clue what you're talking about. I've presented you with free education on the sort of rounds our Nigerian soldier carries. It would have been an argument if you knew what you're talking about, but clearly you do not. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by kabe1: 6:28pm On Nov 26, 2016 |
bidexiii: The 1st & 2nd batch of beryl that looks like these uses the 7.62x39mm
The later(5000 units delivery still on) that has the looks of ak74 uses the 5.56x45mm. Be patient read what I wrote carefully.
The 1st pic are the initial beryl deliveries, that uses the 7.62x39mm 5.45×39mm = Russia (AK-74M)7.62x39mm = Nigeria (AK-103). We don't use the first round. You don't seem to understand what the initial argument is over. You need to go back and establish how the argument came about, as you seem lost. Like i have established, there is no evidence that supports Nigeria using the 5.45×39mm( Russia), we only use the 7.62x39mm and NATO 5.56x45mm. |

bidexiii: These link was for the first batch of beryl riffle delivered which included both rounds ammo.
Nigeria Receives A Batch Of Polish Beryl Rifles
Fabryka supplied 510 examples of Beryl and Mini-Beryl
carbines for the Nigerian Army. The weapons were
delivered in two variants, using 7.62x39 mm (Beryl) and 5.56x45 mm (Mini-Beryl) ammunition.
http://www.defence24.com/168989,polish-beryl-carbines-sold-to-nigeria-by-the-radom-lucznik-company bidexiii: now a 1000 deal followed after the initial deal. And the possiblity of another 5000 deal followed due to the need in N.E theatre which where the ones used by the AFSF today. And these versions you are chambered for new NATO standard - 5.45×39mm
now take a very good look of those riffles they are not ak74/74m or 103/104 either. Dude please read your own source. It clearly states that the bulk of the rifles delivered to Nigeria from Poland are chambered in 7.62x39mm. only 5 units of mini-Beryl are chambered in 5.56x45 mm. 5.56x45 mm is the same round used in Nigerian Tavor-21s which other commando units use. There are no version chambered in the 5.45mm which is a Russian round. NATO countries use the 5.56x45 mm as a standard not the Russian 5.45×39mm. Understand the difference, Jeez!! There is no evidence that the Nigerian army or any branch of the military use the 5.45×39mm from Russia. Nigerian service men only use the 7.62x39mm (Russia) and 5.56x45 mm (NATO). |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by kabe1: 2:37pm On Nov 26, 2016 |
bidexiii: In the last picture I just posted r two different riffles but very similar and they are chambered to use the same round. That's why i'm saying based on the "open source" information which is readily available, unless there is a verifiable source to the contrary, the rifles those navy guys are carrying is an AK-103 not an AK-74. The rifles you shared are chambered to use the 7.62x39mm which is the round we have always used. Which also the Janes defence article verifies. At the end of the day, it is a good thing that infantry weapons of our soldiers are improving. |

bidexiii: Okay the AK's with black polymer butt on page 199.
Now the AK versions the NA and other military arm fields, fires the; 7.62×51mm produced by DICON.
Now the beryl rifle versions fielded by the AFSF and the AK74M fires or is chambered for the new 5.45×39mm rounds. Like the one @M14A1 Posted, which we import till today.
Before the advent of the beryl riffle av seeing few NA soldiers with AK-103 or 104 and even the AK74/74M which are very difficult to differentiate. No offence bidexi, but you're wrong. Here is an article from Janes defence.com From Jane’s- “Polish small arms manufacturer Broni has delivered a second batch of 500 Beryl M762 assault rifles to Nigeria under a USD500,000 contract signed early this year, company sources have told IHS Jane’s . The first batch of 1,000 Beryl M762s, spare parts, and training was delivered to Nigeria under a USD1 million contract signed in mid-2014. This was the first ever export order for any Beryl rifle, including the M762, a 7.62×39 mm version of the Polish Army’s 5.56×45 mm Beryl M556 (wz. 96C) service rifle." As you can see, Nigerian troops have never used the 5.45 mm round. All our troops regular infantry and AFSF use the 7.62x 39mm All our regular commandos use the 5.56 standard NATO round. No Nigerian unit fields the 5.45 standard Russian army round. |

M14A1: Some Nigerian infantry units fire the 5.45 No Sir, no Nigerian unit fires the 5.45 ammo. Nigerian commandos from the Navy and Air force, also to a lesser extent the Army, all of those who use the Tavor-21 use the 5.56 ammo. All other Nigerian units, including the AFSF, Regular Infantry and Mobile Strike Force use the 7.62mm in their rifles or carbines. The chances of the Nigerian military using the 5.45 is so small, it is virtually non-existent. Hence my conclusion that rifle could only be the AK-103. |

frumentius: Now that's an interesting question.
I know Denel Aviation is the official MRO for the African continent for: 1) Lockheed Martin (C-130); 2) Airbus Helicopters (Puma, Super Puma, all the ex-Eurocopter choppers etc); 3) Russian Helicopters (though I hear this will soon be terminated); and 4) the SAAF Agusta A109 & Super Lynx.
Denel has a facility in Lagos for the C-130s and Super Pumas of the NAF but I'm pretty sure they only handle SA's Agusta products. Which probably means if there's extensive damage to your choppers, Agusta will fly people in or craft will be shipped to Europe. Although i'm new here, I've been following this thread, on & off for sometime. I'll like to ask, wasn't there an argument over this between you and Oga Henry a couple months back, I mean over this MRO facility? Does this mean the little work done on the AW101 was done by Denel or by the Nigerians. I see the crashed chooper has a new Cammo? |

I'll like to ask another question if you don't mind. Is Nigeria no longer getting the JF-17, i thought Oga Henry always said we would get them this november? |
