newafricaken254: we are talking about armoured personnel carriers (APC) not Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP's) The Kenyan APC was hit by an IED, a threat it is not built to counter. It is a vehicle that is in the wrong place at the wrong time. |

MikeCZA: The frequency of flights?
Like saying why SA Gripens haven't crashed while others have in Europe. I don't think this qualifies. It is not about the frequency of flights. We can all compare the flight numbers of the other countries combined to that of India and we would still see the Indian crash rate is still too high and unacceptable. Algeria operates Su-30s in both COIN and patrol operations, yet we've never heard of a crashed AF Su-30. HAL needs to be investigated in my opinion. It is not normal the rate of Indian crashes. |

newafricaken254: all of them are cheap sh@t The Nigerian Big Foot MRAPs have proven to be very effective in combat. You cannot compare a basic APC to a vehicle designed to counter IEDs. This is were you are wrong. |

lionel4power: we already know that its an OPV due to its assumed role. The P18N was derived from a corvette. just like NNS Okpabana is a Patrol cutter but we still call it a Frigate anytime we want to refer to it.
your responce is annoying because it is not needed since we all know its an OPV. it shows that you prefer argument over logical discussion.
the question was 'what is the armanment like?' SIMPLE AND SHORT. Sir, it is an OPV. You cannot compare an OPV with a Corvette. |

Where in this post is performance even mentioned? So, why do they keep talking about performance? The question asked is primarily about ground clearance. |

Henry240: Do you people have working brains in your heads at all?
I did not compare the IPV with the Polaris ATV. You're even talking about off-road performance which i never brought up. I've made this comment over 100 times, perharps i should translate it to Afrikaans.
Get this into your thick skulls! How many times would i have to repeat myself, are you daft?
In Afrikaans.
Het jy mense werk brein in jou kop nie? Die vraag gevra was slegs sowat grondvryhoogte. Hoeveel keer sal ek myself herhaal, is jy dom? |

Henry240: I woke this morning, logged into Nairaland.com, only to find the tears, and anguish of pained South-Africas all over my mention. Nigeria sure does give you guys a terrible heartache.

I'm loving it!!!
Only one country is active militarily in 9 African countries, that's Big Brother Nigeria.
"Do you know, the level of political and military prowess that is needed to achieve that?", offcourse you don't , your soldiers ran away from the CAR after waving the white flag, they have also ran away from Sudan, as expected. I can feel the South-African pain, i don't envy you!
The tears of pained South-Africans is like fuel to my soul!! Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! You got them good Oga Henry. |

Henry240: Her post also claims that Nigerian army Cobra's do not have military grade armour. Well that's just not true.
Here are photos of completely battle scared Nigerian army Cobra's which are still deployed in combat operations.
As we can all see, these vehicles have taken massive beatings. They are completely riddled with bullets, yet they are still going strong. One has it's headlight completely busted out.
I doubt if it's stones that did that. Damn!! WTF is this |

lionel4power: you guys should just forget everything you know about Attack helicopters, all those specs (hot 'n' high, service ceiling, range e.t.c) are just marketing strategy.
. in the real world those specs truelly dont mean jack. AHs are not fighter jets, they dont plan before going off on an op, they just patrol, search then 'attempt' to destroy.
. All AHs perform the same function. theres really no special skill in helicopters. personally the only skill that matters is SURVIVABILITY. Can I get hit by a manpad or a 25 mm and still RTB Alive?
. BTW THE US ARMY APACHE CAN CARRY ATLEAST 2 EXTRA CREWMEN OUTSIDE ITS CABIN AS STANDARD. THAT DOESNT MAKE IT LESS LETHAL NEITHER IS IT AN 'ASSAULT' HELICOPTER.
ALSO THE SU25 HAS A CARGO POD FOR CARRYING EXTRA EQUIPMENT AND MECHANICS BUT THAT DOESNT MAKE IT A TRANSPORT PLANE.
.
THE MI35 HAS INSANE ARMOR COVERING, I MEAN ARMOR THAT CAN WITHSTAND 20 MM AND 25 MM AA ROUNDS. MOST APC AND IFV WILL PRACTICALLY SHRED APART. IT IS NOT CALLED A FLYING TANK FOR NOTHING.
. THE ONLY REAL EDGE IS 1) THE CALIBER OF WEAPONS CARRIED 2) THE RANGE OF WEAPONS CARRIED 3) DATA FUSION AND PROCESSING 3) DATA LINK.
MANEUVERBILITY DOESNT REALLY COUNT BECAUSE HELICOPTERS ARE NOT DOGFIGHTERS, THERE LARGE MAIN ROTOR MAKES THEM NATURALLY UNMANEUVERABLE I.E THEY ARE INHERENTLY STABLE BY DEFAULT. . IF YOU ARE FLYING AN ATTACK HELICOPTER AND SOMEONE FIRES A MANPAD OR SAM UP YOUR ASS... IF YOUE FLARE AND CHAFF DECOY DOESNT DEFEAT IT JUST BAILOUT OR SCREAM MAYDAY. . FLYING UPSIDE DOWN WONT DO YOU MUCH GOOD.. LEAVE THAT FOR THE AIRSHOWS AND SAFFERS PHOTOGRAPHERS. (NO OFFENCE) South-Africans destroyed in 5 seconds! Beautiful post, 1 Zillion likes bro. |
