I don't think our L39s or Tucano carry Air to Air weapons so just F7/JF17?

JF-17 and F-7s will carry out Air Interdiction and CAS.

Nigeria will use UCAV for bombings, while Alpha Jets will carry out CAS.

However diplomacy is the only way forward.

From Sokoto to Naimey is under 500km. Our Aircrafts will make that distance without issues.

At the end, we should see better procurement of military assets for the military after this is over. That's my prediction.

All neighbouring countries are in support of ECOWAS except Mali and they are both landlocked.

Algeria already declared support and another delegation sent to Libya already. Togo, Benin Nigeria and Chad are all against the coup.

I don't foresee any fighter jet coming from anywhere or heavy military equipment.

No cargo plane will even attempt to take such risk. That guy will step down eventually.

We only need the support of the Americans and military intervention in Niger will commence.

The main threat Nigerian troops will face will come from Wagner, however I don't see Wagner commiting major forces in Niger either. They are mainly preoccupied in Belarus, military intervention in Niger is not necessarily a geopolitical struggle, although it has some of the ingredients needed to make it one between the US and Russia.

For deployment, I suspect the Nigerian Air Force will deploy the following assets.

- 2 x JF-17

- 4 x F-7NI.

These aircrafts will mainly carry out the bulk of Air Interdiction missions & CAP.

I don't think Nigeria will deploy combat helicopters because of threats of the aircrafts been shot down, that's if Wagner are in the area. If there's no threat of Wagner, Attack Helicopters will be deployed in my opinion.

Nigeria plans to carry out many of the bombing missions using UCAVs. UCAV losses I think would be more bearable.

The army composition is much harder to predict. Nigerian army has enough firepower to press on this intervention, who knows we might see that more Heavy weaponry might have been purchased than what has been reported or visually sighted.

In my opinion, I don't think we should allow this coup in Niger to stand, it presents a major national security risk for Nigeria.

NAF TO RECEIVE ADDITIONAL PLATFORMS TO BOOST COUNTER-TERRORISM OPERATIONS

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Hasan Abubakar has disclosed that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is expecting 51 additional platforms to boost counter-insurgency and counterterrorism operations in the country. The CAS stated this while addressing officers and men during his maiden operational tour of NAF units in Makurdi, Benue State. He noted that acquisition of additional platforms would bolster training, air power employment and projection. The platforms being expected, according to the CAS, include 2 Agusta 109 Trekker Multi-role helicopters, 2 Beechcraft King Air 360, 3 Diamond DA-62 surveillance aircraft and 6 T-129 ATAK helicopters. Other pending acquisitions include 2 CASA -295 medium airlift/surveillance aircraft, 12 AH-1Z attack helicopters and 24 M-346 attack aircraft. All these acquisitions, according to the CAS, demonstrates the Federal Government’s deep commitment to equipping the NAF for the safe conduct of training and agile airpower employment to meet the Nation’s security challenges.

Speaking further, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar stated that the NAF would continue to enhance cooperation and jointness as part of a whole-of-nation approach to quickly resolving the security challenges bedeviling the country. “While the NAF augments its airpower measures and approaches, it will also continue to promote seamless interoperability of equipment and joint force employment by the various services.” He therefore enjoined the personnel to cooperate with other services and security agencies to meet the high expectations of Nigerians on the Armed Forces as well as restore peace and security and ensure a safe and prosperous Nation. Air Vice Marshal Abubakar went on to note that though the successes so far recorded were largely due to the renewed cooperation and jointness between the Services and other security agencies, it must be enhanced and sustained.

The CAS also assured the personnel of his commitment to proactively address maintenance and logistics support for all NAF fleet to ensure it surpasses the current average serviceability of over 78 per cent. On training, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar stated that overseas and local training will henceforth be deliberate and targeted to address deficiencies in needed skills and capabilities, just as selection for such courses will be purely merit-based to ensure that only the most qualified are selected to give the NAF value for money.

On welfare, the CAS noted that under his watch, problems of poor electricity and water supply as well as dilapidated accommodation and road infrastructure on all NAF Bases would be given the utmost priority they deserve to ensure personnel and their families live comfortably. While assuring them of prompt payment of all entitlements, he also promised to look into the issue of uniforms and other accoutrements. The CAS also called on the need for the personnel to remain disciplined, diligent and responsible in their conduct in and out of uniforms.

Nigerian army Ziyan UAS Blowfish A3 UAV was showcased by NA Command Engineering Depot (CED)

We only recently just bought this aircraft. It has now crashed.

The Nigerian Air Force had lost all it's FT-7 aircrafts and only recently purchased replacements.

Now the replacement is gone.

A Nigerian Air Force FT-7NI trainer aircraft has crashed in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

Both pilots survived!

The Chadian Air Force has unveiled 3x Hürkuş-C light combat aircraft and 2x ANKA Unmanned combat aerial vehicles from Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).

The aircraft’s were presented this morning to the President of Chad, at the Adji Kossei air base in N'Djamena.

Infact the way I see it, after the supply of M346FA aircrafts we need to focus on modernizing our land forces.

The army seriously needs new Artillery, wheeled 155mm, Rocket Artillery and Mortars.

We need a minimum 100 units VT-4 and 100 units ST-1 Tanks.

We need to also invest in local defence suppliers. Our patronage of Proforce, DICON and other local defence suppliers is still too poor.
