Nigerian Air Force Day Celebration 2022
|
Nigeria Day 4 Formation test flights have taken place today with Mark and Chris Heames ready for the show, more briefings and meetings and the team also had the honour of meeting the Nigerian Air Force Air Marshall. Another first saw Mark and Chris flying in formation with an Augusta 109 helicopter trailing a huge Nigerian Flag (it appears they remembered to bring their flag,, sorry we don’t mention Mark forgetting the flags do we 🤦🏻) this flight brings unique challenges to all involved due to the differences in airspeeds and wake turbulence from the rotor wash, not to mention the consideration of a huge flag flying between the two Extras!

NAF EVACUATES 94 NIGERIANS FROM SUDAN The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has brought back home 94 Nigerians stranded in Sudan. The evacuees, flown in NAF 913 C-130H aircraft, arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at 2254 UTC (11.54pm local time) last night, 3 May 2023. The evacuees are among the first batch of 276 Nigerians airlifted from Aswan in the wake of the ongoing security challenges in Sudan. The NAF effort is in furtherance of its constitutional role of aid to civil authority, and in line with the commitment by the Federal Government to rescue and successfully return back home Nigerians living in Sudan. The airlift operation is most heart warming as it coincides with the NAFs 59th anniversary celebration holding in Enugu from 4-7 May 2023. On hand to receive the returnees on arrival were the Honourable Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq; the Ministrys Permanent Secretary, Dr Nasir Sani Gwarzo; Director General National Emergency Management Agency, Ahmed Habib; and Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Exnavyboy62:I agree that the price is high, and we are better severed with procuring additional T-129 ATAK helicopters instead. 1 Billion Dollars for an aircraft we can't explore all of the capabilities it has on offer is too much. |

Antiochus:We have produced rockets for aircrafts, I don't know about bombs. However I'm sure there are people more knowledgeable than I am and with more information. We can only guarantee the safety and security of Nigeria with a domestic defence industry. While we have made tremendous strides in the past decade, I am concerned that military planners in Nigeria are yet to fully embrace indigenization of local hardware. The Nigerian army has purchased nearly 800 armoured vehicles in the last 8 years, only a few of this number have been locally made. This is a serious concern. |
Toju200:This means Nigeria might still get the AH-1Z Attack Helicopter after all. |
