"Yesterday the team assembled at Cambridge Airport to load two of our Extra Aircraft for our show in Nigeria next week. The contract for this show was only agreed and signed two weeks ago which left no time for conventional shipping methods, therefore we co-ordinated logistics with the Nigerian Air Force to ensure our aircraft and support equipment arrive in time.

The aircraft have now arrived in Nigeria where they will await our team to arrive and assemble at the weekend."

construction projects supporting recently delivered A-29 Super Tucano aircraft, like the sun shades they are under and improvements to the hangar facility behind them. The construction was part of the historic $500 million U.S. foreign military sale to Nigeria, which also includes the delivery of the 12 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft, munitions, and training.

Happy to be reading this o. President Buhari tried when it comes to procuring modern equipments for the military or what do you think?
The President has invested heavily in security and our armed forces in particular.

No President since the return of democracy and none since Shagari comes close to him.

We can all agree that the investment has paid off dividends, security challenges while still a problem has reduced drastically.

Our Air Force now has modern night fighting capabilities, when we receive our M346FA fighter jets, the Air Force's capability to strike harder , farther and faster would be greatly increased.

One area I think we need to improve is in the training of our personnel, while Nigerian special units are very well trained, the regular soldiers don't seem to cut it.

We also need to invest in a larger number of special units, we can't only have the SBS, Panthers, DHQSF and Army SF (707 Battalion) alone.

You are very right. What they don't know is those terror group might be regrouping with sophisticated weaponry. Nigeria needs to watch its own back before watching other African countries.
Exactly, we need to prioritize investment in securing our country.

UN missions are a formality.

A-29ST PROGRAM: NAF COMMISSIONS OPERATIONS SUPPORT FACILITIES, WINGS ADDITIONAL 6 PILOTS

The Nigerian Air Force yesterday commissioned operations support facilities and winged 6 additional pilots on the A-29 Super Tucano (A-29ST) aircraft. The latest facility induction is a major milestone recorded by the Service in its acquisition of the United States-made aircraft. The ceremony signifies the official completion of the A-29ST projects by the Government of the United States as part of the government-to-government sale of the A-29ST aircraft to Nigeria.

The occasion was chaired by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal Idi Lubo, who represented the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao. Speaking at the occasion, AVM Lubo noted that the projects are the last of the infrastructure development packages executed towards actualising full operation and security of the A-29ST aircraft, while expressing the hope that the facilities would ensure optimal employment of the aircraft in furtherance of NAF readiness and responsiveness to security challenges in the country.

As the A-29ST programme winds up, yesterday event provided the opportunity to wing 6 pilots who constitute the last batch of a total of 24 pilots trained within the package. Recall that discussion about NAF acquisition of the A-29ST aircraft started in 2016; however, the contract for the production of the aircraft was awarded to Sierra Nevada Corporation in 2018. The contract comprised supply of 12 aircraft and infrastructure and facility upgrade to support the aircraft operation. The first phase of the contract has since been completed with the delivery of the entire aircraft, while yesterday infrastructure handover and commissioning ceremony marked the completion of the second phase.

Special appreciations to the Governments of Nigeria and the United States and everyone who made the project a reality, including those who graced the event yesterday, particularly the Charge D’affaires US Embassy in Nigeria, Mr David Greene, and representative of the US Air Force, Brigadier General Joel W. Safranek among several others.

Nigerian troop deployment to Abyei region in South Sudan.
Nigeria is back to UN missions in South Sudan and Guinea Bissau.

In my opinion, this is not a good thing, UN missions of old made the Nigerian army weak and unprepared to face real threats.

While we can contribute a few soldiers to these missions we need to concentrate on the real threats that face Nigeria.

With Boko Haram and ISWAP technically defeated in Nigeria, the military seems to think they have the time to run around in these mickey mouse UN missions.

We really need to consider the suitability of these missions to our army.

These guys flew over my airspace that day. They flew so low that even a stone could reach them. I knew immediately they were Tucanos and were on surveillance mission.
Election duties, equipped for ISR missions and suitably suited for the missions they carried out on election day.

My only concern is we need at least 2 squadrons in service.
