I get ur point. Maybe it wasn't Abia, just one of those South Eastern States, probably Ebonyi as you said. That means Bayelsa state is also a ELDS too. They are also yet to have a Federal Uni. Forgive my error on Abia earlier. |
Why? |
Nice analysis. Good write-up. But can I open ur eyes a bit? The Nigerian government and most companies that recruit nysc corp members , are actually looking for cheap labour. Yes, cheap labour. Why pay a professional huge amounts of money when a young graduate corp member can do it for peanuts ![]() In as much as the Government is willing to stabilise the labour force with the nysc scheme , at least d corp members should be given better conditions of service to prevent 'labour flight' to Western nations after service. Sometimes it's not our fault. When you have a family to feed, younger ones to send to school, aged parents to take care of, pressures of a befitting social and material life, you can't help but open ur arms to available opportunities, inconsequential of the effects it has on Nigeria. Sha , E go better, with time. |

"Why are you trying so hard to fit in when you were born to stand out?" |
It was a long time he felt this way. Maybe because of the nightmares. Maybe not. Did he dream at all? He couldn't tell. Anyway, what he dreamt or not was practically the last thing on his mind. He stretched on his bed and yawned out loud. Ooze! He perceived a familiar odour coming from his mouth. His senses awakened totally, and just then he realised. He realised that he wasn't on his bed. He was inside a gutter. |
There's this stunt I pulled in Mathematics during my first semester. It's good to read ahead of time and this is my advise to newly admitted. Now 2 d stunt : It was a sunday, and I was just flipping thru my Maths text. I was about to read Surds when I remembered that an ex-student advised me to read only two sections only. 1> rationalization. 2>square root of surdic quantities. I did just that. Meanwhile, some of my mates were busy reading Addition, subtraction, etc and every crap about surds. One day we had a suprised Maths test. It took everyone by suprise. I did not prepare for this test, but because I heeded to someone's advise I got 90%. When d scripts was distributed, people were like 'wow!. That guy is a genius'. Hardly did they know that it was a simple advice I heeded that saved me. Don't underestimate people's advice if you want to make it big. Especially from ur senior colleagues in skul. An advice can save ur energy, save ur time , and save ur ego. |
@Johnpaul That was then. Not now. |
@Eemeeka I think Wikipedia can help. |
@Steve you have a point. It's not easy to combine both syllabus, but at d same time, how many candidates will be willing to sacrifice one year at home? |
Mine I attended a Federal Government College, and LABOUR<clearing of grasses> seemed to constant in all 'PRO UNITATEs'. Of course it was hell too, as the labour prefect would make sure we clear every area with our cutlass. There was this labour day, I didn't have a cutlass. I knew that going for labour that day would be hell because those without cutlasses were punished and made to work harder than those who had. Well, I had to think of ways to escape<skip> labour that day, because the last thing I wanted was a punishment from the labour prefect. As soon as I heard the bell for labour, I packed my books and ran with all my might to the staff quaters. I had to practically make sure I was invisible to the staff living there, because if I was caught, it would be double trouble. I sneaked by the corner of peoples houses to make sure I wasn't caught. Now where was I heading to. Practically nowhere. I sighted my classmates who had timed the bell and skipped prior to it's ringing. I ran along and and met up with them. They exchanged dubious glances as if I was an intruder. It was then I realised that I wasn't welcome. <I'd complete d story later> |
Someone help this guy na. @PETER I'd rather you google it yourself. |
