Kag,

Bill Cosby once called himself:

"A scared athiest."

Smile.
I can understand the sentiment: there's so much to scared of in life and death.

Aproko:
i also thought KAG was female huh huh
So did I.

Christianity EtcRe: Shakesphear's Name In The King James Bible Spelled Backwards by KAG: 11:55pm On Jun 26, 2007
ap7453:
Some years back some young white boys showed me a place in the King James Version of the Bible where William Shakesphear's name was spelled backwards. It is well known that Shakesphear helped King James write the Bible, and that King James told him not to put his name anywhere in the Bible. Anybody else heard of this, let me know.
I don't think that's true, then again some people say Shakespeare wasn't a real person, so whatever.

layi:
We have GOD in the bible.
So dog was spelt backwards. Right?
This means a dog co wrote the bible with King James. Right?
It's possible.

The current pope's take is almost simalra to Pope John Paul II's. He seems to also be a theistic evolutionist.
Christianity EtcRe: Proof That Jesus Christ Is Really The Messiah! by KAG: 11:17pm On Jun 26, 2007
That's not proof - it's not even evidence. It's conjecture at best.
Christianity EtcRe: if everyone accepted that there was only one 'true' religion... by KAG: 11:15pm On Jun 26, 2007

would the world be a better placehuh?

if everyone genuinely thought that there was only one 'god' (or 'allah') and everyone worshipped that said deity in the exactly same way would mankind suffer an easier existencehuh?
No, people would still find ways to form sects and fight about whose sect is the most erudite or something.
Christianity EtcRe: Mocking God? by KAG: 11:06pm On Jun 26, 2007
Gen A:
Whether or not these stories are true is not important.
I disagree. Not only would it be wrong to relay untruths in order to scare people into a religion, the content of the stories tell a lot about the thinking processes of the people who both make up the stories and pass them on.

What IS important is that the Word of God does not change.
Sure it does.

We should all stop and think about that. "Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Galatians 6:7
I guess women get a free pass tongue

Kashif:
Nairalanders,

I have been hearing this saying that Christianity is not a religion. I have heard it from grounded, educated christians but they have not been able to make me understand that concept.

Pal, is there anyone who can shed more light on this? I would like to be educated.

Cheers
It's a religion; however, there are Christians who, in their zeal to express how special they find Christianity, resort to absurd convoluted utterances and illogical claims.
Christianity EtcRe: Can You Attend A Church Led By A Woman? by KAG: 10:46pm On Jun 26, 2007

@ the feminists in the house: This is no chavinism. It's the commandment of God. (1 Cor 14:37).
Regards.
It's chauvinism dressed in the rags of religion.

As above, women were created for men, not the other way round. quote] Women like to control and manipulate men. It's as much a part of the fallen nature of humans as the male ego. And I'd venture to say it's done mankind more harm grin!
The underlying philosophy of the religious misogynists.

Ikomi:
Its being scientifically proven that its hard for women to loose their sences at the sight of a handsome man
No it hasn't. Stop making up things.

unlike a man who would even leave his strong security hold at the sight of an averagely beautiful woman not to talk of a very beautiful one.
Only if he's a stupid, small-minded sex addict.

I see some guys coming here and saying there is noting wrong with a woman leading the church (For every guy that says that am sure has not had enough experience with women)
Actually, it's apparent that YOU have had little to no experience with women - short of fantasising about them in classes, that is.

At the same time it is belived that women are more deceptive than men (No proof to that though). If u get my drift that is where am coming from.
You're coming from an angle that involves a ridiculous and insane idea about the nature of women (which you admit has no proof), which clearly flies in the face of all the malevolence and historically evident manipulations of men? You think that helps your already weak argument?

Women could hold post like admin and finance they are very good with that, but to lead a church (the height of moral symbol) you could as well go get a chamelion to tell u its true colour.
Why would women be good with administration and finance but not "morality"?

My dear friend, i listed some of your points to make it easier to cut across them.

1. Christianity is not a recent religion, its more than 2000 years old. Besides it is has the same God with the Jewish religions before it. As a matter of fact Christianity is the refined Jewish religion so that makes it quite old indeed - seeing that the Jews trace their religion from the exact beginning of time.
While it's debatable that the Jewish and Christian God are the same (IMO the two are about as similar as the Muslim God and Christian God), I don't think it's right to say that Jews can trace their religion to the beginning of time. The Jewish religion - as it is categorized now - is most likely about 6,000 - 10,000 years old at most.

shinystar:
People have argued that female pastors do not make good leaders because women were not created to lead but be led.
That's nothing more than propaganda at best.

So, can you attend a church pastored by a woman, especially as a man?
Yes.

davidylan:
Do you have any empirical evidence to support the idea that God indeed does not exist
There's nothing to be tested, viewed or experienced objectively in anyway.

and that atoms indeed do exist?
Yes.

Thou art ensnared by the words of thy mouth.
At least it's finally serving a worthy purpose (my mouth that is).
Christianity EtcRe: Now For The Sake Of Arguement, Define Truth by KAG: 11:08pm On Jun 21, 2007
Jaguar1:
Now, am going you a defination you may not be acquainted with.
Truth is the word of God,
What is the word of God? Which God? How can it be determined that the word of that God or set of Gods is Truth (capital T)? Is it subjective?

contrary to expectation, it's not always a statement of fact.
What do you think?
I agree with this part.

ajadrage:
Truth is the spoken word of that which brings all things into birth. If truth can be defined by factuality, then nothing is more real than the reality that there is in existence one who has never been known to have spoken that which did not be. Thus, when the physical manifestation of that word spoke himself to be the way, truth and life, a truism was in effect being realised in all the entire history of mankind.

In consequence, the lie becomes the deceiver and slanderer and all that negates the truth as expressed by Jehovah through his spoken word Jesus Christ

How so? For something to be defined as a reality there has to be unambiguous ways to show the validity of its existence. There has been no unambiguous and unsubjective presentation of any "speakers" who have brought existence to be, so for now that definition of Truth cannot be applied. Basically, not only are the claims you've made just empty rhetoric, it's widely accepted and peddled by Christian apologists that the existence of Jehovah relies on faith. Truth shouldn't depend on faith.

This actually to warn all atheist like Michelin89 who do not believe in God that There is God Almighty who created the Heavens and the Earth.
Do you have any empirical evidence to support the idea that a God - a God Almighty - created the Heavens and Earth?

I will be failing myself if I donot tell you, you may however believe whatever you like but the consequences of that will stare you right in the face someday.
What are the consequences? Would we really have a face if those consequences come around?

I have gender issues.

misright:
Many words have several, even distinct meanings, it's all in the context of how they are used, Now for the sake of arguement, define TRUTH
I would say Truth (capital "T"wink is that which remains unaffected by subjectivity and can be tested repeatedly, giving the same outcome, by anyone.
