I helped wake her up. When she regained consciousness, she didn't just know what to do or where to start confessing or how to start pleading for forgiveness. I categorically told her it was over between us. I collected the dubai necklace I gave her(which was a symbol of our engagement). She pleaded with me but I told her it was over btw us. I left. The following day, she came to my house with Veron my best friend who betrayed me. They said they came to beg for my forgiveness. She said it was me she loved, and that it was a mistake what happened btw her and Veron. Veron was speechless. I told them to go and never come back because I don't ever want to see their faces. I left there. My girl kept coming. I neglected her. She kept calling me. She called me again yesterday which is why I'm writing this. Should I forgiver her?
You can forgive her but do not take her back. You should be jailed for life if you take her back... A girl that can f.uck your friend can kill you... NLC, TUC to mediate in FG, ASUU dispute NOVEMBER 29, 2013 BY FIDELIS SORIWEI 6 Comments President of the NLC, Mr. Abdulwahed Omar | credits: File copy As the face off between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities took another twist on Thursday, indications have emerged that the organised labour in the country would mediate in the crisis. The Acting Minister of Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, had ordered ASUU members who had been on strike since July to return to work or risk being fired . However, the National President of the Trade Union Congress, Mr. Bobboi Kaigama, said in a telephone interview with our correspondent that the Nigeria Labour Congress and the TUC would intervene in the crisis. Kaigama and the Acting General Secretary of the NLC, Chris Uyot, had on Tuesday called on the Federal Government to pay the arrears of salaries of the striking lecturers . The TUC president said on Thursday that the organised labour was preoccupied with the resolution of the crisis and would avoid blaming either party involved in the crisis. Kaigama, who said he had held a discussion with his NLC counterpart, Mr. Abdulwahed Omar, on the issue, added that efforts would be made to ensure that the matter was resolved without either side conceding defeat. He said, “Well, we have to intervene in this crisis. I have heard what has happened. The NLC and the TUC would intervene so that the conflict is not worsened. “We don’t want to blame anybody on either side; we just want to do it in such a way that there is no winner, no vanquished. Omar and I have discussed it.” |
Don't be naïve... Some lecturers( those close to retirement age and junior lecturers) will break ranks... Let me remind you that there is already a crack in some ASUU branches like Unilag,EBSU etc... Register will be brought out and lecturers that fail to sign it will be dismissed. Ask the 44 lecturers sacked by Unilorin management in 2001 and they will tell you what they faced.it took about 9years before the court reinstated them and some have died( they were 49 before, 5 died before the judgement)... In conclusion, it is only those that refuse to sign the register that will be sacked |
President Goodluck Jonathan has directed the authorities of all the federal universities in the country to resume academic activities, Thisday reports. Jonathan said that any lecturer or member of the academic staff that fails to comply with this directive will lose his job. He directed the school authorities to declare vacant any position of any defaulting member of academic staff. Pro-Chancellors of Nigerian federal universities, on Wednesday also called on all tertiary institutions in the country to resume.academic activities. Source: http://m.news24.com/nigeria/National/News/Jonathan-orders-universities-authorities-to-re-open-schools-20131128 Below is the full text of the address by the Supervising Minister of Education, Barr. Nyesom Wike this morning. PRESS BRIEFING BY THE SUPERVISING MINISTER OF EDUCATION, CHIEF (BARR) EZENWO NYESOM WIKE ON THE ON GOING INDUSTRIAL STRIKE ACTION BY ASUU ON THURSDAY, 28TH NOVEMBER, 2013 PROTOCOL You may recall that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) went on strike on 1st July, 2013 on the grievances of non-implementation of the Federal Government (FGN) / ASUU agreement, signed in 2009. In reaction, the Federal Government initiated series of meetings between her team led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, including the Honourable Ministers of Education, Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Labour & Productivity, and other top Government officials with the Executive of ASUU. It should be noted that a joint Senate and House Committees on Education also intervened without success. A committee was also inaugurated for the implementation of the Needs Assessment Report. As a further demonstration of Government’s commitment to resolve the crisis, His Excellency, Architect Namadi Sambo, GCON, Vice – President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on behalf of Government, intervened and invited ASUU to a meeting where the two contentious issues of Earned Academic Allowances and Funding, for the revitalization of the universities, were discussed and resolutions reached. There was still no positive response from ASUU. Consequently, on 4th November, 2013, in a thirteen hour meeting, His Excellency Mr. President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR met with ASUU Executive, the Labour Union leaders from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), where all the issues were resolved and firm commitments made to address the lingering issues. It is note worthy that Mr. President’s gesture was more than sufficient to guarantee the commitment of Government to address all issues as resolved at the meeting with Mr. President. At the end of the meeting with Mr. President, the ASUU Executive promised to meet with its NEC to present the resolutions reached and report back by Friday November 8, 2013. It is unfortunate that while traveling to attend the NEC meeting in Kano, we lost a key member and former President of the union, Prof. Festus Iyayi. Government sympathizes with the families of the late Iyayi and ASUU. It is amazing, however, that three weeks after the meeting with Mr. President, ASUU responded by giving new conditions for suspending the five month old strike. Government has reviewed the entire situation and come to the conclusion, that the continuation of the strike action is an attempt by ASUU to sabotage all efforts to address the issues. As a responsible Government we cannot allow the continuous closure of our public universities for this length of time (five months), as this poses danger to the education system, the future of our youths and national development. Consequently, the Federal Government has directed as follows: i.All Vice – Chancellors of Federal Universities that are currently on strike should immediately reopen for academic and allied activities as directed by their Pro-Chancellors; ii.Vice – Chancellors should ensure that staff who resume for work are provided with the enabling environment for academic and allied activities; iii.Any academic staff who fails to resume on or before the 4th of December, 2013 automatically ceases to be a staff of the institution; and iv.Vice-Chancellors are also directed to advertise vacancies (internal and external) in their institutions. The National Universities Commission is hereby directed to monitor the compliance of these directives by the various institutions. The Federal Government has met all its commitments and obligations with respect to the FG/ASUU 2009 Agreement. We appeal to all stakeholders to appreciate the position of Government which is in the best interest of our dear country. |

LizyL: why are they making everything so difficult? all the branches voted on the strike so why can't they just decide now? why do they have to meet johnny? not necessaryI think that they want to meet jonathan so as to give him some conditions before the strike is called off. Such conditions as: 1). Payment of outstanding salaries(salaries for spetember, october and november). 2). Government must assure the union that no lecturer will be victimised for participating in theindustrial action. 3). Government must assure the union that the new agreement won't be like others. Etc |

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Sunday dissociated itself from the planned resumption of academic activities at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology. The union said its attention has been drawn to the announcement by ESUT management that students are resuming academic activities today – November 18, 2013. It stated this in a statement signed by the Chairman of ASUU-ESUT, Prof. Agu Gab Agu and others. The union said, “The academic staff of ESUT dissociates itself from the above announcement.” The statement also read, “While ASUU-ESUT mourns the demise of Prof. Festus Iyayi, a former President of ASUU, it awaits the direction of the NEC on the ongoing strike.” Meanwhile, a condolence register has been opened for the late Prof. Iyayi at the ASUU Secretariat in ESUT, Agbani Campus. Prof. Agu described the demise of Iyayi as a big loss to ASUU. “His death was a big loss to the union, the academia and the country in general,” he said. The ASUU-ESUT boss prayed that God should grant the family of the former ASUU president the fortitude to bear the loss Source: http://www.punchng.com/news/ASUU-disowns-planned-resumption-lectures-in-esut/ |

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has been enjoined to use the opportunity created by President Goodluck Jonathan’s intervention to call off its four-month old strike. A cross-section of residents made the call in an interview in Umuahia on Wednesday. They expressed the hope that the president’s intervention would bring an end to the impasse. Mr Lucky Akabuike, a former Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress in Abia, said the university teachers would create more enemies for themselves if they failed to end the strike. “They will lose friends and the entire nation will turn against them if they did not use the President’s intervention to call off the strike’’, Akabuike said. He noted that students and parents were already agitated by the industrial action. He argued that strikes should be a means to an end and not an end itself. Akabuike said parties in an industrial dispute should be prepared to give and take during negotiations and that hard line positions do not augur well. He commended the President for wading into the crisis, saying that the gesture portrayed him as humble, caring and concerned about the future of children. The National Coordinator, Associated Youth Club of Nigeria, Mr Emeka Okafo, said the president’s intervention showed that he wanted the crisis resolved. “The 12- hour negotiation between the President and ASUU leadership showed his passion and commitment to ensure that students returned to school’’, he said. He urged the lecturers to accept the President’s position and the Federal Government to implement the latest agreement. “It will be counter-productive to the union and the nation if the students remained at home after this negotiation. “As a former lecturer, the President knows about the decay in the nation’s universities; so his intervention is expected to bring lasting solution’’, he said. A public affairs analyst, Mr Igbeaku Orji, expressed regrets that final year students who were to go for national youth service had missed the opportunity. A parent, Mr Obinna Odowuike, described the President’s intervention as “belated’’, adding that the damage had already been done. However, it is better late than never’’, he said. He said the President’s intervention had brought relief to parents. The Chairman of Abia council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mr Hyacinth Okoli, said ASUU should accept the offer by government and return to the classroom. He urged the Federal Government to “religiously implement any agreement reached with the union." Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/11/stakeholders-beg-ASUU-call-strike/ |
"He said his own members must decide for themselves irrespective of the directive by Fagge that the strike will be called off at the weekend". @ishaba... This excerpt is from the original post... From the quoted sentence above, there are two facts from it: 1. Fagge has informed them that the strike will be called off by weekend. 2. ASUU UNIJOS chapter is not happy/contented with the directive given by fagge. @ishabe. Which university do you attend? |
ASUU UNIJOS says it must debate the directive of ASUU President that prolonged strike will be called off In what appears the clearest indication that the prolonged ASUU strike will end by the coming days, the ASUU of University of Jos has declared that the final decision on who calls off the strike cannot rest with the ASUU President, Dr Nasir Fagge. He said his own members must decide for themselves irrespective of the directive by Fagge that the strike will be called off at the weekend. This crack is coming as a surprise to close stakeholders after four months of unity. The Chairman of the UNIJOS Chapter, Dr David Janakam spoke in an interview in Jos, the Plateau State capital. “The national president of ASUU cannot ask us to call off just because the union has met with Mr. President. We don’t operate that way. Whatever agreement reached between the national body and Mr President will be a subject of discussion at local branches. “We can only call it off when the local branches gives their acceptance to whatever agreement reached with the federal government in their last meeting with president Jonathan. Janakam said members of the union have lost confidence in the federal government when it comes to agreement based on the lesson learnt from the current strike adding that the minutes of the last meeting with President Jonathan will be critically reviewed. “If the local branches do not see any seriousness in the contents of that meeting, we will let our national body know of our opinion accordingly. If our response is positive, only then the national body can announce that we have agreed to resume classes. “So, as far as this strike is concerned, it is the members of ASUU nationwide that can determine the end of the strike, not the national president. Leaders of various chapters of ASUU cannot take decision on behalf of their members in this case. It is the members themselves that should say it is time to call off. So it is not a leadership thing” said Dr Jankam “I’m just coming back from Abuja where that national president and zonal chairmen briefed us chairmen of local chapters on their dialogue with Mr. President. Back home we will converge in our congress to discuss the issues. Whatever resolution reached in our congress will be made known to our national body. “This is going to be the processes for calling off of this strike. That was why I said this strike cannot be called off with directive of ASUU president. It has to be the other way round” He said the congress of the Unijos ASUU chapter has been scheduled for Monday next week. |

President Goodluck Jonathan is currently locked in a closed-door make-or-mar meeting with striking members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities inside the First Lady Conference Room, Presidential Villa, Abuja. The President is being joined at the meeting that started at 2.40pm by Vice President Namadi Sambo; Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim; Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike; and Minister of Labour, Emeka Wogu among others. ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Isa Faggae, led the union team which included past presidents such as Prof. Abdulahi Sule-Kano, Prof. Dipo Fashina and Prof. Festus Iyayi. President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Abdulawahid Omar and that of the Trade. Union Congress, Bobboi Kaigama, are also in attendance. Indication that the logjam may be resolved at the meeting emerged when the President declared while shaking hands with members of the delegation that, “The matter must be resolved here today. Our children must go back to school.” All those in attendance responded with a loud “amen.” Source: http://www.punchng.com/news/jonathan-in-make-or-mar-meeting-with-ASUU/ |
