These 5 set of smartphones from Gionee are giving tecno mobile a sleepless night

Gionee Splus
Gionee P5W
Gionee M3 mini
And yet to be released Gionee M5 mini.
I think it's a very development for we consumers, because each one of the listed phones is offering something special at a cheaper price than what Tecno can offer to consumers, that is why I said it is good for we consumers. Phantom 5 which was proved to be a failed project is eclipsed at the top by M5 while M3 mini would murder any low end phone Tecno. I am not hating on Tecno this is just a wake up call .

It an insult to compare Alcatel pop star with Tecno L5, I mean do they have anything in common? Pop star should be compared with Camon C5 not L5.

guy, d chipset in gioone p5w isn't mt6735 and mali 720gpu as gioone claimed, it is actually mt6580 and mali 400mp which is outdated... Be nt deceived by d specs u see on various websites... Ask p5w users 2 tell u.. Like i said, infinix hot is beta dan dis crappy device...

Dude it is either you are arguing blindly or deliberately trying to distort an established fact! Gionee can never lie about something as important as chipset, even if they do a credible website like GSM arena wouldn't. Any way you can prove your point by giving us a screen shot of the CPU and GPU from P5w.

what's lol about the price? Hot2 1GB version is about the same price 19k on konga and jumia, and the specs of the two phones is almost identical. Camera is the only difference 8mp of Hot2 vs 5mp of P5W which I think doesn't matter because we all know how Gionee's 5mp perfoms from M2 mini to M3 mini, so I think P5W may not be the perfect phone out there but the price of 19k is OK considering the Naira-dollar exchange rate.

But wait o! Is Tecno really serious? Why keep your consumers waiting until June before releasing Android M to your flagship device, by then another version of Android may have come out, worst still another Tecno phone with Android M will be released before that time forcing you people to abandon the Phantom 5.

Not a Christmas gift at all, this plan was launched by Glo over two months ago meaning it will continue after January 2016, I have been using it since.

Please can you enlightened me on this, which rate applies when I made a purchase from online stores like aliexpress using my GTBank Mastercard, is it the CBN, official, BDC or parallel rate?

Why not N100 for 1GB like Airtel? 3GB in just 2 days is a waste.

well in my opinion apart from bigger screen of pop star Gionee M3 mini is better in other areas like battery, processor(64 bit against 32 bit of pop star), GPU(Mali T720 against 450 of pop star) but if I have a chance to choose between the two I would pick the pop star because of its 5"inch screen and sleek design.

Alcatel pop star beats SNOKOR in everything except battery, I believe it is the cheapest smartphone right now with decent specs 8mp back camera 5mp front camera 1280x720 HD display all for 16k.

It has a decent specs for this price, almost same with infinix Hot2 1gb version, I may consider it if the review is positive.

it depends on your location, it may take a week but if you are in Lagos or closer you may likely get it in 2 to 3 days time, their delivery is fast.

L5 is not yet released, but for me M3 mini is better because of its 4G LTE and latest powerful processor MT6753, 64 bit and Mali T720 GPU which Tecno used in their flagship phantom 5, moreover the 4000mah battery of M3 mini is more than enough for a 4.5 inch device.

would love to order from Jumia but Konga's delivery to my location Jos is cheaper, it used to be free, now it is N1500 compared to Jumia's N2550, I also pay on delivery with Konga while Jumia is pay with Master card. I like Jumia but it is difficult doing business with them here. Jos is one of the biggest and important city in the north, after Kano and Kaduna, it is the capital of north-central zone, I am surprised that Jumia didn't consider it important to have a pick up station here like Kano and Kaduna.

I am also interested in this tab though lack of proper review is holding me back, besides the name and brand 'Bryte" is new to me.

Either Jumia or Innjoo, one of them is not ready to release the phones today, it could be market strategy though.

Hot2 1gb version was N17900 with free delivery last week, now it is N17500 with N1500 delivery charge making it N19000! Konga is that your definition of discount?

Nice one from Tecno, that's why competition is good for consumers. This will be a direct competitor to Gionee M3 mini, though I still prefer Gionee over Tecno because of quality but if the price I am seeing is true 14k then M3 mini is in trouble.

I will suggest three things, firstly Tecno should start producing flagship device with Qualcomm snapdragon processor, that is the standard among all the premium brands even Gionee uses snapdragon on their flagship, but if Tecno must use MTK it should be at least Helio X10 or X20. Secondly OTA update is very important, till this day Tecno is yet to update any of its devices from one version to the next except for some minor software updates pushed recently, Phantom Z that was sold 50k last year is still stuck on Android 4.4. Thirdly Tecno should expand their horizon beyond Africa if they really want to be among major players in the smartphone market, for example a flagship is priced at $300 like Phantom 5 will be too expensive in Nigeria and many African countries but that amount is very affordable in developed countries of Europe, Asia and America, the latest Gionee E8 was priced at $350 but it was launched only in Europe and Asia because Gionee understand the African market and by the they decided to launch it here the price will be slashed considerably to accommodate the African market, enough said.

Nobody is doubting the capability of Phantom 5, after all it has a 3gb ram 2.0ghz Octa-core 64bit so basically it's an excellent device but the the bottom line here is that it is overpriced simple! There are many Chinese phones with world wide recognition while Tecno is still unknown outside Africa, those Chinese companies offer better specs and performance yet below 50k. If Tecno wants to go premium like samsung, Sony, apple etc issokay but this is not the right way and certainly not the right time.

RAM should have been 2gb for the max considering the price, Innjoo fire is less than 20k but it has a 2gb ram. anyway it's still affordable I personally like the battery and camera of the max plus.
