See my speed with the same MTN in Jos.

Norman4real:battery capacity is small? I doubt if you are talking about 2.3 because it is a 4000mah battery, which is not small by all standards. |
Where can I get a replacement screen for redmi 8A apart from aliexpress, any seller here? |
Please apart from aliexpress is there anywhere I can get a replacement screen for redmi 8 in Nigeria Jos precisely? Any seller here on nairaland? |
iKingsley:yes, my current phone I ordered August last year was delivered to me within 9 days. |
Midex88:2 to 3 days, in some cases within 24 hours. Using aliexpress standard shipping as a yard stick, your order of 16th May would have arrived since. |
Seller must be very broke, or is there any logical explanation? |
gidieberry:lol, I won't advise even my enemy to use China post shipping. |
bhella10:check network settings, make access point does not contain proxy and port numbers. |
Until normalcy returns, all restrictions are lifted I won't buy anything from Aliexpress. |
As usual, Nigerians are taking for granted. There is Nokia 1.3 released before this one, it is a better device with similar specs but snapdragon chipset, a water drop display, better battery and OTG function, but I wonder why Nokia has not introduced it to Nigeria market.

I don't really have a favorite brand, I used Tecno, Gionee and infinix in the past, so I don't have a problem buying any of them if the price is right, because price is my issue with transsion devices, they would use a poor and outdated chipset on their device and slam a huge price tag on it, take for example the recently launched itel p36 pro with a unisoc chipset and selling for 43k, I don't really have problems with the phone itself but price is too expensive, it would be a scam to sell that phone 30k let alone 43k. Tecno spark 5 and infinix hot 9 are both selling for more than 50k, to me this is an extortion when you can get better devices at a lower price. I have never used a Xiaomi phone, but I feel they offer more value for money, look at the specs redmi 8a of 37k for example despite its lack of finger print sensor(what I dislike about the phone) can match or even beat the spark 5 in performance. |
Olamyyde:yes o the moment I saw the name "itel p36 pro LTE" I was like, is there any none 4G smartphone in 2020? |
The biggest joke of the year is spending 43k on itel smartphone. |
EstherG:you mean all nigcomsat channels are encrypted on ourTV decoder? |
Vivo has just released the X50 pro+ with snapdragon 865 chipset, 12GB RAM and 256Gb ROM. those who think VIVO does not produce flagship phones, don't anything about the company except its name. |
OP should state clearly the type of vivo phones he is talking about, because some people may think you are talking about those outdated refurbished vivo phones from 2013. |
MayenKudi:Check this out! Redmi 8a 3/32 variant is around 37k while the 4/64 variant is just 42k. The only possible explanation here is tecno and infinix are just taking advantage of this pandemic to exploit Nigerians further cos I saw Hot 9 also selling for 56k in most retail shops.
|
MayenKudi:it is still expensive even at 49k, the argument here is there are cheaper phones with much more better specs in the market, of course this pandemic has affected the prices of almost everything but considering the specs of spark 5, it shouldn't exceed 40k. |
edoairways:you got it wrong, there is a difference between redmi 8 and redmi note 8, check the pictures I posted. So even if it is the redmi note 8 compared with the spark 5 you would agree with me that the Tecno is highly overpriced. |
To say that I was surprised when saw the price on jumia is understatement, like seriously? I think only a novice would buy at that price when a much more better option like redmi 8 is available at a much lower price.
|
If I were you I would go for the S11. |
Wow people still using leeco? I have sold mine a year ago. |
karps:that problem is peculiar to MTN and Airtel networks though not always. I'm not using a Nokia phone but I'm encountering same problem from time to time. |
I think people should stop buying from AliExpress for the mean time. Your item may be shipped and arrive in destination country but it won't be delivered to you because of this lock down, the item may get lost in the process. It is better to wait until the storm is over. |
It should support MTN 4G, probably your location have no 4G coverage or your MTN SIM is not 4G compliant, it could also be a temporary network issue. |
We can't dispute the fact that Xiaomi is miles better than Tecno and Infinix, but I don't see how Xiaomi can overtake them in the near future as far as Nigeria market is concerned. |
OP here is the latest coolpad to be released soon. You can can always count on aliexpress if you need a coolpad phone.
|
ZesusHVWritter:we may hate transsion products but I think 30k for this phone is a good buy, no phone can offer better specs at this price, all the alternatives you have mentioned are way more than 30k. |

Geniusspecs:OP is this what you call a review |
ogundeleai:so if Nigeria have "standards" what would be the reason for not allowing the phone into our market? Is there any health hazard associated with the phone? Hundreds of thousands of Nigerians would gladly buy it because they can't afford a 30k+ phone, BTW, the phone is not meant for Nigeria market only, it is sold globally, check GSMarena and read reviews from users in different countries. |
