Someone asked me why will you resign from your job when you haven't gotten another In this present Nigeria and I put up my million dollar smile and told him that a there are benefits in having a good name.

I know things are really difficult in this economy of ours. Getting a job is one and getting benefits from the job is another with examples from the woes being suffered by the civil servants in Kogi.

I was jobless for about 3months because the company I worked for didn't have any project at hand so we came to a mutual understanding and I moved on.
During my jobless period, I searched and searched for a job but this is Nigeria where anything goes. You know you are qualified for an engineering position but an accountant who is the HR feels otherwise or you attend an interview and they want you to collect peanuts that wouldn't help you save at the end of the day.

After I passed through this frustrations, I decided to take a digital marketing course which finally helped in securing my job as a digital marketer in a one-man firm. (I never knew it was a one-man firm before having read the experiences of other Nairalanders)

I started the job based on what I was told at the interview but later realized that it was all lies.
Ranging from who really owns the firm to my job descriptions.
So, I have listed the major reasons in no particular order on why I resigned after working for just a month

Distance and Security
The distance from my house to my workplace takes approximately 8hrs on the road to and fro
I lacked sleep, moved about with a keen sense of security due to early morning and late night movements. Sometimes, I I wouldn't get vehicles and would need to walk a long distance to be able to get home and this really affected my health.

Job description
I know what I signed for during the interview but it was different when I started.
I didn't only do the work of a digital marketer but also train other staffs who are not too skilled with the computer, do Graphics Design each day, if any computer develop problems, I will need to check it out, develop business proposals, look for clients offline (Marketer) and also serve as a customer care.
I was being exploited by my boss.

Integrity at stake
During my second week, I finally knew that the company was a joke.
They scam unsuspecting victims. Companies and individuals.
You will be listed on the website and be called to register stating that they have jobs for you.
The victims fall for it and will probably wait for eternity before they can get a job from the company.
The owner of the company put me under lots of pressure to do this and if there's one thing I believe in, it is a good name.
I can't just scam people trying to make ends meet so that I can be paid my salary.

So, I resigned after a month. The owner called me telling me to return and I refused. He made a offer that I work from home which I didn't accept...

About a week later, a subscriber threatened one of the staffs in the office and another staff followed my footstep and I was happy that I left before this occurred.

In life we are often faced with situations such as this, so will you sell your integrity for stipends? The world will certainly be a better place if we believe that it begins with our actions.

I remember one time, when I was younger, we were having a family gathering and one of the guest asked me to get him water. I went to bring satchet water for him. He declined it saying he doesn't drink satchet water. That was how I entered kitchen, took one of the empty Eva water containers and started filling it with satchet water. The woman no believe say this person wey dey beg now now don change am, I started saying things that even me my self don't believe I could say on top of my voice, so some other of her colleagues came around and appealed to her to return my money back. As desperate as this woman is, she said she was going to lay a curse on d money, I told her that if dem born four of you well, curse money make I dey look you, you go see today, it's with trembling she gave me the money o.

As I got into d bus even till now, I still dey laugh say e good make person get small craze o, otherwise, people will override you any how.

Lmao! I've shown small craze too before. One Igbo shoemaker man I gave money to fix the sole of my shoe. I paid him complete the day I gave him shoe. Told me to come back the following week to get it, only for him to tell me stories of how he did not see flat sole in the market he wasn't sure if I'd like it. I told him to fix it like that. I just want the shoe back. He told me to come back the following week. The following week, I went back only for him to start telling me the same story about sole. Na dere craze start. I told him 'oga, give me my money' while we were there somebody had dropped 500 naira on the table before our argument. I quickly collected the money and told him to give me the remaining 1k. The man was surprised. He kept saying beautiful girl like you, look at how you are behaving, with your quiet face. if I'd known, I won't have collected your shoe to fix. He now started begging me. Left him Sha but the next time I came to pick up my shoe it was ready. The man was now forming customer service.

Esseite:
You would never know the situation first hand until you break down your payslip according to your needs..

Rent of N500k - 42k monthly
Food of N1k - 31k monthly
Transport N1k - 31k monthly
Phcn - N10k - 10k month
Dstv - N3k - 3k monthly
Clothing - N5k - 5k monthly - starch/detergent/purchase
Miscellenous - N5k - 5k monthly - gift/household items
Security levy - N3k - 3k monthly - security dues
Recharge card - N1500 monthly - no data sub

Total - 131k approx - how many earn 131k/month (note this is for a very regimented lifestyle) - No savings, no car, no auto maintenance... no extra pure water or coke... if you buy beer today, you might not be able to pay rent tomorrow, no amenities (tv,dvd,etc).

I gave you the instance of Mrs. Doubtfire, where d man dressed up as an old female nanny so that he could see his kids more often.
