So a supreme Court Justice earns 750k a month. That's about $22k a year. Meanwhile American Supreme Court justices earn more than 240k a year. Before some will say it's America, Ghana pays 213k per year. Poverty Breeds Corruption.

Pets / OMG!! Canada Declares Sexual Acts With Animals Legal by Kay03: 7:03am On Oct 11, 2016
Sex acts with animals are legal in Canada, so long as there is no penetration involved, according to a surprise ruling issued by the Supreme Court.
The determination stemmed from a case involving a British Columbia man convicted of 13 counts sexually assaulting his stepdaughters - including one count of bestiality. But the man, identified only as "DLW", was acquitted of the bestiality count with the new ruling .
DLW's attorneys argued that bestiality linked to "buggery" - or sodomy - with animals beginning with an 1892 criminal code. Bestiality was first used in a 1955 code, but still was not defined to encompass every sex act with animals.
"Although bestiality was often subsumed in terms such as sodomy or buggery, penetration was the essence - 'the defining act' - of the offence," the court said.
Thus, the court ruled by a 7–1 majority that bestiality required penetration.
“There is no hint in any of the parliamentary record that any substantive change to the elements of the offence of bestiality was intended,” the ruling reads.
According to court record DLW smeared peanut butter on the genitals of his victims and had the family dog lick it off while he videotaped the act.
 The animals vs The people
Court documents disclose that DLW attempted to have the dog perform intercourse on the stepdaughter, but that ultimately failed.
DLW is serving a 16 year prison sentence. He brought the bestitality conviction to the court on appeal.
Justice Rosalie Abella was the lone dissenter, and had suggested that the court deny the appeal.
“Acts with animals that have a sexual purpose are inherently exploitative whether or not penetration occurs,” she wrote.

Car Talk / Re: How To Jump Start A Car by Kay03: 7:28am On Sep 28, 2016
shinebabe:

Yeah. But I think connecting -ve to -ve gives you a parallel connection that increases current and isn't safe for the car.
An increased current capacity doesn't have any negative effect on your car. Only increased voltage (ie series connection) can damage your car. It really doesn't matter if you connect to the terminal or to the body. If you check your battery, you'll see that the negative terminal is connected directly to the body of the car.

Very nice write up, but to say the PDP list doesn't contain anyone within the age bracket of 18-35 isn't completely correct. Barr. Omosede Igbinedion is on that last and she just turned 35 this year. More power to your elbow.

This will help silence Tom Ikhimi and PDP who have been shouting marginalization of esan land. Now the new speaker is from Igueben. that is the same village with Tom Ikhimi.

Speaker of the house is better than Deputy Governor PDP is offering esan land. Deputy Governor position is functionless position.

This woman have made national history. History will always remember her.

For the about 8years of Oshiomole Government, Esan has always held the speaker position. The Esan speaker was only removed two months ago and replaced by the Benin woman due to the former speaker over involvement in the APC governorship primary.

There was never marginilisation of esan land in the first place.

Please get your facts right before commenting in the public domain. When Oshiomole came in, Zakawanu Garuba from Edo North was speaker. He was removed for the sake of balance and replaced with Uyi Igbe from Edo South, who was succeeded by Victor Edoror from Edo Central after the 2015 elections, and impeached two months ago. Prior to this moment, Esan land has only held the position for a little over one year.

@cryptic21 what about those that applied for graduate assistant? were they also denied the interview opportunity for lack of PhD registration?
cryptic21:
If you don't have any evidence of Phd registration like the admission letter, please stay at home. I just left there now. They did not allowed anyone from the faculty of Law and Pharmacy without a phd admission letter to do the oral interview. It was crazy. We had about 25 lawyers all wanting to be interview for assistant lecturer position but they refused.
Even the pharmacy faculty had fewer number of people for some dept while some nobody @ all that met der criteria but they refused to conduct interview for pple with Msc and that have purchased forms from various school. CRAZY

Politics / Re: A Thought Provoking Write Up For Every Nigerian Youth by Kay03: 2:31pm On Mar 22, 2016
For the Nigerian youth, this is brain cracking time because it is quite obvious that our elders have failed us. It's a pity that Nigerian youths now see things through the North / South , Christian / Moslem , APC / PDP prism. Let us wrest ourselves from these primordial sentiments and work hard towards a greater Nigeria.
Politics / A Thought Provoking Write Up For Every Nigerian Youth by Kay03: 10:08am On Mar 22, 2016
I saw this on my friends wall and decided to share with nairalanders
Truth is, our generation is so unlucky to have these set of predecessors. With all due respect to my elders, I am not very proud of the 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's generation. They ruined their time and want to ruin ours too.
When they were kids, the whole community contributed to send them to school but during our time, some of us had to struggle to put ourselves through school.
Once they graduated, it didn't matter the type of results they graduated with, they had several options of where to work, some had to choose between Shell, University Lecturing, Ministry and the like. They didn't have to write aptitude tests in stages, write personality tests in stages, attend assessment center, scale through 1st, 2nd and 3rd interviews, write elimination exams at training schools, they were literally begged to work for any chosen establishment. But in our time, even the smartest minds with 1st Class results, even MSc and PhD holders are sitting at home, constantly studying and endlessly job-searching.
They had everything on a platter of gold but instead of preparing grounds for the generations ahead, they decided to embezzle everything and leave us in the hands of "luck" and "providence". They did that much harm to us and we still scaled through and survived through resilience and high-spirited-ness. Wisdom and good conscience advised them saying: "Oga, you alone ate all that belonged to you and your generation when you were in power, and even ate over 1/2 of what was meant for the next generations, please leave them to pick up and manage the small they have left and try to make some sense out of their life". Greed said, "why not take everything?". People even steal money meant for pensioners and even HIV drugs meant for the vulnerable just because they are in power?
Are they smarter than we are? Hell No. We have done even greater things than they would even dream of achieving despite having so small to work with.
Some of us saw clearly that the nation has nothing to offer us and decided to embrace entrepreneurship but somehow, they invented policies that drove a lot of young entrepreneurs out of business. There is no capacity for producing things in Nigeria but they made importation too expensive even when purchasing power is so low. This now seems like they against us, not really like PDP against APC, it's now PDP and APC against you and I. They even turned us against each other, made us spend useful time cursing ourselves for them instead of brainstorming on how to solve the world energy challenge, feed every one, make CLEAN WATER AVAILABLE TO EVERY HOUSEHOLD, find a cure for HIV, Cancer, Ebola and the like, etc.
I am not initiating a revolt against our leaders, predecessors, parents and grandparents, neither am I trying to test my writing skills (which I'm very sure isn't good enough for the papers), rather, I am penning this article from the bottom of my heart to beg our youth to stop helping these ones in their resolve to fool us and take what rightfully belongs to us. Let's spend more time on things that will make our world better and that of the generations after us. Let's focus on real topics like energy, cancer, hunger, CLEAN WATER, terrorism, etc. Also, when next you go to the polls, try to vote for the youngest candidates. I'd rather be misled by my mate that be misled by the same person that misled my parent and even grand-parent.
WE NEED TO SAVE OUR WORLD AND MAKE IT A BETTER PLACE FOR YOU AND FOR ME AND FOR GENERATIONS UNBORN.
I am sorry for making you read this long article, forgive me if it sounds stupid but thanks anyway for reading till the end.

Saifullah01:
I don't think there is a big deal about this. The federal government awards kids of a deceased federal minister. It's just similar to a laudable legislation in the state of New York, US - regents award to children of deceased police officers in the state of New York ( http://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2015/s16 ).What I think we should be talking about is standardising these awards and defining its parameters.

And for the minister's son employment, it's no coincidence that it's the ministry of justice that is offering him the job and not the ministry of labour where his father worked. Obviously due deligence and background checks would have been done as per his qualification before the announcement of the offer. #justmy2cents

can you compare the sacrifice made by a police officer who died on duty to that of a minister?
