traeces: Friend, let me begin by saying I like you."born to party, forced to work." Now to the point, By training am a core scientist and very widely read. My training predisposes me to ask questions and question answers until I arrive at questions that are unanswerrable and answers that are unquestionable. However, God helped me. I realized years ago that science as wonderful as it is has its limitations. There are plenty phenomena it hasn't been able to evidentially explain. There are several theories or positions it held few years ago which in the light of newer discoveries no longer hold. What's more, it can only investigate the natural, physical world. Nothing more! It has created absolutely nothing. All true scientist and science itself are bewildered by science's discoveries some of which were actually mistakes. There is hardly any atheistic position I haven't read, understood and found credible and completely satisfactory answers to from the word of God. And I tell you the truth, anybody could find this answers satisfactory as well except that they are beyond science and logic. They are spiritual. "My thoughts are completely different from yours," says the lord. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." Is 55:8,9(NLT) If we must find God, his terms is that we must come in faith for faith is what connects the physical to the spiritual. That was how those who walked before us obtained God's approval and until we have faith, we will never be able to trully understand (Heb 11:2-3) You found questions unanswereable?? Have you reached the boundary of all human knowledge? You are making the claims of the omniscient, it is ridiculous. I didn't expect you to make sense since you ditched logic and reasoning long ago |

traeces: The bible contains the word of God. It has the letter and also the spirit. The letter kills, it is the spirit that gives life(2 Cor3:6) ATHEISTS AND OTHER NON-BELIEVERS ATTEMPT TO UNDERSTAND THE WORD OF GOD BY MAKING IT ADD UP LOGICALLY. IN THAT THEY ERR AND WILL CONTINUE TO ERR. It takes a spirit to percieve a spirit and there is nothing spiritual about logic. It is simply intellectual. Once you pull out logic, you'd tend to sound ridiculous, cos you are not expected to make sense |

OLAADEGBU: It is your opinion that is subjective since you are not basing it on any empirical evidence. The resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ was miraculous and can be backed up by many criteria of certainty if you are a seeking for the facts.
Those who really wanted to know the truth have arrived at it using the many evidences at their disposal. Lets take Abraham Lincoln's case for instance. The mere fact that Abraham Lincoln was born, became president, or was assassinated cannot be proven using scientific methods. To be scientific it must be repeatable (as in the testing of gravity). The proofs that Lincoln did exist and was a historical figure are the following:
1. the written evidence,
2. eyewitness testimony,
3. physical evidence that remains to this day at the Ford Theatre, birth records and newspaper articles regarding his election.
All these facts are acceptable in a court of law as proof to a judge and jury.
It was Garry T. Ansdell (D.D.) who made a successful case out of this when he stated that The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is evidential because of the following reasons:
1. the existence of the empty tomb,
2. The birth record of our Lord Jesus Christ is documented all the way back to Adam and Eve,
3. the four Gospels record His death;
4. the location, even the names of the political leaders who sentenced Him are historically recorded;
5. there were more than five hundred eyewitnesses who saw Jesus after His resurrection, recorded by the New Testament writers;
6. the very existence of the Christian faith, based on His death and resurrection;
7. the cultural and political evidence at the time, including the Roman calender separating all of time into Before Christ (B.C.) and in the year of our Lord (A.D.).
If you accept the existence of Abraham Lincoln due to circumstantial evidence why not accept the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ? 1. Who identifies the Cave as Jesus' tomb? Because it is not a general fact to all, so someone must have identified the cave and known it was for Jesus. Hence a missing link btw cave and Jesus. 2. Who did that? Because no court a accepts evidence from anonymous persons. 3. There must be an exact coherence in their stories or else, it could be thrown out. Also through what perspective was their knowledge from, first hand testimonies or from hearsay? 5. Who are they? The five hundred? 6. Irrelevant. 7. Inconsistent. |

iSoldier: Though i just wish that those supporting gays wold be just clearheaded for once, if you know the true meaning of following Christ you know that there is no room for homosexuality in christianity. so i think they should just forget about putting the pressure on the church to condone it, there is no grey area btw the two. if the gays want acceptance they should just go and form their own religion, and stop trying to change christians to accept them, its just foolhardy. There is no way if you go through the bible and you find support for that, argue it with the best philosophical arguement, it wont bulge. and i think the West wants to put political pressure on the church to accept it, but they forget that ther is a spiritual side to it, it wont just work so they should stop trying Though I'm not really interested in christian theology and its take on homosexuality except to Anony's concept of love, however Sin is taken to be a disease, like leprosy. Yet love is expected to be shown on the diseased rather than neglect and isolation. So how does the good Samaritan story affect homosexuality today? |

Christianity Etc › Re: Adeboye - Same-Sex Marriage Against God’s Will by Kay17: 10:52pm On Jan 23, 2013 |
jmoore: marriage is the union of a man and a woman, the gays should leave marriage out of this. The emphasis is on marriage, if your brother wants to mate a goat thats his business but he should not seek for the country give him a legal recognition to marry the goat. Marriage is actually partnership based on matrimonal privileges. Its btw the parties, not the State and the parties or the Church and the parties. Reproduction is not a prerequisite of marriage so reproductive compatibility isn't an issue. Marriage can be contracted on the basis of love, if the parties believe that they are insanely in love, the state can not stop them. Given that the Nigerian constitution espouses a right to association, it means that ppl are entitled to freely bond partnerships upon whatever terms and conditions they choose including matrimonial privileges. |

Ubenedictus: galileo triggered a chain reaction, wen ur scriptural interpretation is condemned, so will d ideas u support and so will d books condemning d ideas. Since galileos books were banned, his ban will affect those who share d same ideas. 1. Galileo's scriptural interpretation is separable from both Copernicus, Galileo and Keplar heliocentric model. The model doesn't fundamentally rest on the interpretation, there were mathematical and physical scale arguments which propped it. So its illogical to ban heliocentrism on a negative interpretation. 2. The church was clearly protecting its own spiritual "truth" and if need be against the interest of science's development, which itself proves that knowledge is one, and can't be divided. 3. Against the false image of the church you presented, the Church didn't sponsor and promote scientific development. The church maintained a censor over scientific works as seen of Kepler and Copernicus's works and other scientists. |

Whether or not homosexuality should be legalized is entirely a secular issue.
To the christians, does the Christian concept of love change in the face of persecution of homosexuals?
Isn't the idea of sin and man; that man is irretrivable flawed to resist sin?
Given that all sins are equal, why does homosexuality attract this much attention? |

Is said very simply that the likelihood that there are more atheist women than men is a possibility... their relative lack of contribution here appears to suggest the contrary but that may be because a lot of them would rather spend their time doing something more reasonable than blabbing on a "god" they claim does not exist. Quick example i used... there are FAR more christian men debating on this section, but it is well known that women sometimes outnumber men in the church 3:1. Where did you get that statistics from? Joagbaje: I agree with the first part. You are responsible for your life , not God. God gives his word and power as instrument for us to prosper by . What you do with the word of God determine the out come. Through his words ,instructions for living are given. If you do the word . You will experience the protection and blessing. If you don't do it . You experience the absence of the blessing in the particular area of your carelessness . The choice is yours.
Deuteronomy 30:19 I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing:therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, attend to my words;incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes;keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them,and health to all their flesh.
This last part of your post is wrong. God cares and he want every one to know his principles and by these principles make their lives successes.
Joshua 1:8 observe to do according to all that is written therein:for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
From the scripture above ,it says "thou" shall make thy way prosperous. You see it's our responsibility , to take advantage of his grace Hence God is a means to one's goals of prosperity and happiness? How do you explain the riches of none Christians? |
