Deep Sight: The question is if there is a barrier from which time begins and a barrier at which it ends.\
That is inconceivable.
This means that yes, somethings are indeed uncaused: intangible self-existents such as time. Aka self existent proponet. |

Billyonaire: I am thrilled that I started this thread and watched great human mind share the thought evoking ideals of time. Plaetton, thanks for that great insight on latent truth that has eluded many because of lack of materials and/or lack of will to embrace the truth. Let me add that all that there is, is Spirit and spirit is electromagnetic energy. What is termed God is simply the totality of all spirit, scientifically, the totality of all the electromagnetic energy that there is. In essence, everything, humans, oceans, etc are all spirit manifestations. And the spirit of all, is what man calls God. We are part of the God paradox. This energy can not be created nor destroyed, but changes form, based on density and wavelength. We are gods. That sounds familiar. I don't think so, cos you fail to consider the various and diverse definitions for "God" portrayed as almighty/most powerful force/being. Selecting electromagnetic energy amongst all others doesn't fit the description. Also if electromagnetic energy is god, so also nuclear energy etc. And Mysticism is not different from religion. |

@^^ Bros, I think you are definitely wrong on the highlighted above. They are very much the main part of the real economy of Nigeria . They are the majority of the buyers sellers and consumers of our "poor"/third world economy hence CASH is indispensable but vital for daily survival. They are Nigerians and in the majority too . Deflation rarely will happen in an "unsophisticated"/low- tech economy like Nigeria. We do not have good regulatory institutions/mechanisms/tools to control anything within the country let alone human economic activities of the ordinary person on the street. Prices go up and rarely go down in our kind of economy. Please go check out the price of "pure water", roasted plantain, ground nuts, mama put and transportation in our cities/towns against what the prices were pre subsidy removal brou ha ha. Cash is king in Naija and we are not going cashless anytime soon in a place energy and communication are seen as luxury instead of the base on which a modern/ancient economies are built on. That's because underdeveloped economies always have the particular anomalies for inflation, they aren't poor production, poor economy management, poverty and ill advised socialism. The Nigerian economy suffer deflation, its just that we haven't experienced it before. The 5k banknotes should be blamed for inflation, rather the minimum wage, overpriced capital projects, hiked wage bill of the govt and unnecessary spending. |

damilarelr: Please I will like to ask some questions?
What has happened to "kobo" which used to be our basic unit of currency? Since our phone and bank account balance still reflect the currency why should the coins/note be phased out of our money denominations?
CBN says the 5k note will enhance cashless banking, which means fewer notes will be carried about, I ask, if you have a 5k note and you buy a recharge card of 500 naira, what's "cashless" in having a 4,500 naira change of 100 naira notes only?
Looking at the other benefits of this new note, what percentage of the 167 million Nigerians will benefit from it's introduction and that should be compared to those that will not benefit from it, putting in mind that 65% live below $1 (160 naira max) daily and 77% below $2 (320 naira max), hope they are not simply converting the poor people's money to coins and restrict the paper notes to the rich of the land? (perhaps 5,000 naira should also come in coins)
Since Nigerians detest coins and usually associate it with beggars, fetish stuffs, and how it get lost easily, why can't we just have our 50 kobo, 1 naira, 5 naira, 10, 20, 50, and 100 naira in notes (on matter how small it will look) just like the dollar-cent and pounds-penny relationship, so that at this stage, if you need to carry 2 million naira nobody will force you before you go cashless?
My contribution; lives and property are not secured in some parts of this country, here we're talking about improving the security of naira notes...Buses full of passengers will disappear on the road because of money ritualists...average nigerians will trek long distances, forced to go hungry, miss appointments, stay thirsty, because the retailers of what they need won't have "change" for everybody. Due to avoidance of coins, price of common goods and services will be fixed at the nearest 50..
But what's the point of being a millionaire in naira and thousandnaire in other currencies? These so-called millionaire should help the redenomination of our currency for the common good. Very daft. Why would the Central Bank put into consideration for its fiscal/monetary policies, how petty traders and bus conductors deal with change??!! Besides, if ppl increase prices unnecessary with little money around, a deflation might even occur. |

Youre on your way to becoming the next Zimbabwe. Leave GEJ there and u'll be Haiti.
Goodluck! Zimbabwe had sanctions and thus shortage of goods but plenty money flowing in the system. The high volume bill/banknotes was to actually meet the stresses of inflation, not the bill stimulating inflation. |
160 mil people in Nigeria, 70% live on less than $1 a day = 160N
5k bills wont reduce the cash but increase it. How many Nigerians buy meat worth 100k in a month or 5 bags of rice in year? Stop talking about you but the majority Nigerians that will use the currency.
The amount of money will be constant BUT divided into fewer denominations, thus less paper about. |

Beync: Are we suppose to be moving backwards? what is cashless abt me not able to carry 500k in my bag with ease before, but can now carry 2million in the same bag with more ease?the only effect the money would have is inflation and convenient cash movement cos u get to carry millions in pocket without anyone noticing. infact it will increase total supply of money in the economy more rapidly than before. i don't get jubilating @ #5000 notes that doesn worth $30.
thou am not suprise cos i dont expect much my frm sanusi who studied econmics in islmic language. He considered it general and regular cash management which remotely damages his cashless policy |

bittyend: To those arguing the N5000 notes would help Nigeria become a 'cashless society', why can't we go for the kill and print N100,000 notes, since most Nigerians have more than N100,000 in their accounts anyway?
You guys aren't making sense at all. What problems are the N5000 notes going to solve? How will it reduce inflation?
This is just another wasteful project, I bet they would spend billions of Naira to print the notes. This is madness in a country where the budget hasn't even been implemented, and there are so many things crying for funding. Why waste billions of Naira to print unnecessary and elitist notes? Its a readily circulatory currency note NOW. All thanks to inflation of course. |

Wizeboy: In as much as I agree with his decision to introduce the new N5000 note, where my worry lies is the introduction of N20 coin. Though COIN is been used in more advanced countries of the world as a means of transaction but I doubt if that will work in Nigeria.
I remember when 50kobo and N1 was converted to coin, the price of sweet, biscuits and some other items quickly rise to N5 and had been like that since then. I strongly believe if N20 notes is finally converted to coin, hardly will the value worth what it is today (the price of Pure Water, Biscuit, Sweet and some other things will change drastically) because of Nigerians mentality.
He should therefore, let N5, N10 and N20 remain paper note, in order not to cause hardship for Nigerians. If no one buys it, it would revert back to its actUal value. Maybe there is a sociological impulse to weigh money materials and accord some value to it. |
I've been following this thread and apart from Calloti's trolling, I find it interesting for the most part. The above quote is the part that interests me the most. I believe God is Love and that is what Christianity is all about. This is why I say it is not a religion. The problem is a lot of people who do not understand Christianity attack a stereotype of it. I don't see how a person of reason can reject Christianity in fact rationality does lead men to Christ. However, I have come to understand that it is not logic and reason that stands in the way of accepting Christ, it is pride. A man's ego is what stands in his way.
Rationality can lead Christianity? Really? If so, what place does faith have? |

Fundamental human rights are OUR appreciation and understanding of the human and his unique qualities. His vast/immense intellectual capabilities, his advanced goals and immense achievements. We believe there is a huge gap btw us and other beasts and we have these qualities and sentience and intellect, we believe are precious enough to be preserved hence human rights. Every government created, everybody must acknowledge the uniqueness of man and protect it.
We created human rights. Its not awarded or given per se but recognized.
One of the major catalyst for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was the Holocaust and carnage of the WW2. With such experiences, we are appalled and take recorded conscious steps to prevent such from happening again.
Based on this humanitarian morality, we try offenders. And this is a classic example of how man creates morality. |
