davidylan: See also - atheist almost slavish worship of the scientific theories they bleat help them eliminate a need for a god. You replace a sky god with an earthly god = religion.
Scientific theories/methods are found to be very reliable and self corrective. A reasonable man will believe it.
davidylan: you do know that religious cosmology is a well accepted term right? undecided
I simply asked if cosmology is a religion. I'm aware that most religions do touch on a wide range of subjects and cosmology is one of em.
davidylan: depends on what that "god" is.
Good Point.
davidylan: you dont know anything at all do you? undecided Just making noise for the sake of being seen to post too right?
If evangelism is not a qualifier for religion then what is?
You must count out Jainism, Buddhism, African religions as religions as a result!

davidylan: I read buzugee's comment 2-3 times, your response is a confusing mumbo jumbo. What exactly where you responding to? where in his quote did you see the need for the term "publicity"? undecided
Evangelism/publicity is not a qualifier for religion at all.

hisblud: hence you want to get the attention/worship He alone deserves, by going after Him with so much passion. Oh what a great race into Him.
For the meantime, Religion and God are inseparable.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Internet Has Become A Church For Atheists by Kay17: 3:42pm On Aug 02, 2012
davidylan: unconvincing drivel. Religion itself is a creed or set of beliefs in the cause, nature and purpose of the universe. It is not set in stone that it has to involve a God. See that is where you bunch of illiterates get your knickers in a bunch... to your simplistic minds... religion doesnt exist until a "god" is involved.

Well sorry to tell you... atheism is a "religion" that deifies a secularist explanation for the existence and purpose or purposelessness of the universe.
Cosmology is a religion??

And for those complaining that calling atheists fools is insulting some anonymous Japanese ----- hmmmmmm calling Nigerians, (identifiable Nigerians with whom you are trying to get in conversation) imbeciles, 'tools', brainwashed etc is praising what percentage of Nigerians exactly?

Dishonest.

Your God is not universal neither is the Bible respected widely, just some ppl's dogma on atheism.
YOU GOT INTO TROUBLE THE DAY YOU EQUATED RELIGION WITH GOD. AS FOR STEROIDS, I AM NOT ON THEM WITH YOU.
The God idea is a religious one, without religion no God. God is the purpose and object of worship and attention, and to draw that is religion.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Internet Has Become A Church For Atheists by Kay17: 3:26pm On Aug 02, 2012
buzugee: you seem to be confused as to the meaning of religion. religion is a term that can be replaced with 'dedication'. anything you religiously devote your time to is your religion. 'sports' is a religion for some people. 'atheism' as practiced on this forum is a religion for some of you people because you are extremely dedicated and devoted to it. if you were not devoted to it you would not spend vast amounts of time being against God. that is a religion. a religion of 'anti-God'. a religion called 'atheism'
Automatically Eastern and African religions are not religions anymore cos they are close and don't do publicity?!

My muslim friend actually believes that the earth ought to drop off below, but rather its in place cos of God's DIRECT effort. And that we are in an irrational world. At that point, it occurred to me that we had huge differences in metaphysical spheres, I believe the world is rational and orderly and natural explanations are sufficient, he believes the world began with a moment of irrationality and supernatural solutions are paramount.

So the diff btw an atheist and a muslim is on opinion as to divinity.

Sweetnecta: there is no blind faith here.

has God always there in existence, before the beginning of time, a clock that he set?
can anyone tell me any form of logic that God has not always been in existence, even though He is Unseen?

do we see each thing before we accept the thing exists?

the effect of air is when the wind blows. we do not see air pass by if there is no particle moving by energy of the air.
we do not feel air except the pressure it produces through the wind.

God is The Owner of us and all that we see and don't see, known and unknown, imagined and unimagined.
Do we then expect This Powerful Being to be visible to us, when air is not?
Do we expect This Owner of All Honors to be completely capture by our imagination and or sense, when He is the One Who has programmed us to have limits in each of our qualities? Can we not be satisfied that His Presence can be felt in our lives and our surrounding, without He having to be physical?

It is illogical to make demands, especially when we are limited and such demand will bring us no good but peril? It is illogical to judge God existence by our judgment to know if one man or what is made to occur exists. The Creator Who makes thing exist or occur exist/occur in different and superior yardstick: He is Invisible. And Invisible does exist. It is the opposite of Visible.

Christianity Etc › Re: Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit Refutes The Existence Of God? by Kay17: 10:32am On Jul 31, 2012
Deep Sight: As above. That there was already a pre-existent trigger for such a happening. Obviously.
From what I understand from you, God is self existent (pre-existent trigger) and yet the sum total of reality, which invariably means Everything is God, and it would be nonsensical to talk of Everything being outside Everything!!
Christianity Etc › Re: Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit Refutes The Existence Of God? by Kay17: 10:18am On Jul 31, 2012
caezar: I do not know how you make this leap. Why does an uncaused cause have to be simple or basic?
That is because the quality of being an effect is complexity, a part upon another part. I see Causality possible ONLY in a physcial world.
Christianity Etc › Re: Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit Refutes The Existence Of God? by Kay17: 10:16am On Jul 31, 2012
caezar: Come on! Are you claiming that you are not a different entity from cow dung? Because, by your above claim, when one entity goes out of existence and another comes into existence as a by product of the first entity, the second entity and the first are still one self-existent entity! Existence and self-existence are different things!
I would rather say transform, not fuzzle out of existence. An existing entity is immutable and personifies indestructible existence yet its ONLY alterable.

Finite time is the more absurd concept. What would be before and after this time? Actually, even that question is absurd as that implies eternal time. Thus can you see how absurd finite time is?
Before and After are inherent qualities of Time, therefore in absence of Time, before, after and Causality can't be discussed. Absolute time on the other hand, implies we wouldn't exist yet, but we obviously do.

These qualities are not unnecessary. They become obvious and necessary once you ponder the full implications of the universe as a perfect black box.
In my view, the Universe is as much self existent as other entities. Therefore assuming the absolute non-existence of the Universe, which in turn necessitates a Creator violates the ex nihilio rule.

nyameke: spirit beings are not presumptions Kay17.
We are all spirit beings having a human experience .
Which you had declared without justification.
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is God? by Kay17: 11:27pm On Jul 30, 2012
nyameke: ok then this is your homework. Go find out what a spirit being is and then tie it to your confused rants up there and see if it makes sense to you.
I don't see a reason why we should presume the existence of spirit beings.
Christianity Etc › Re: Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit Refutes The Existence Of God? by Kay17: 10:56pm On Jul 30, 2012
What's absurd about it? That is exactly what God is and that is exactly why God is said to be transcendental.
We ought to be led by Reason, and not be evasive. A transcendent entity is not a physical/material. By definition. Therefore a contradiction to insist they are the same. Likewise pose a problem for a first cause, as a transcendental being is radically DiFferent from a physical being, hence the First Cause isn't the Source of the physical world.

Except if the transcendental don't operate with Time, time can't be infinite if so, there can't be a progression of events towards the centre.

And that is the definition of Divinity. The purest and simplest particle of existence.
But this will contradict your earlier description. God's personality is diverse with multiple layers, an undeniable complexity. An array of attributes and also a more powerful being than his creation.

Deep Sight: ^^^ O, and your link talks about voids being created or formed after the ba.ng. That is not the void I refer to, for I refer to that which the elements from the bang are dispersing into?

Is that a space that can be -

1. Created?

2. Limited?
The extension could be likened as an inflated bubble
Christianity Etc › Re: Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit Refutes The Existence Of God? by Kay17: 9:17pm On Jul 30, 2012
@deepsight

God can't be eternal, because Time itself has a beginning, to assume an absolute time will lead to the logical absurdity of infinity; and infinity on its own, can't exist in reality.

Also, for God to be the uncaused cause, he has to be the most basic and simplest entity, thereby stripping/preventing him from exhibiting a complex personality and self. In order words, the building blocks of existence.
Christianity Etc › Re: Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit Refutes The Existence Of God? by Kay17: 8:28pm On Jul 30, 2012
Deep Sight: Self-existent, uncaused, infinite and eternal, immaterial.
Christianity Etc › Re: Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit Refutes The Existence Of God? by Kay17: 7:29pm On Jul 30, 2012
Deep Sight: Self-existent, uncaused, infinite and eternal, immaterial.
Infinite in what sense??

All existing entities are self existent, SINCE they don't owe their origin to nothingness.

Eternity invokes a logical absurdity of infinite time.

There is trouble accepting the immaterial to be the sum total of reality/everything and yet producing the material.

The popular First Cause is an overstretched, exaggerated with unnecessary qualities like consciousness and intelligence.
Christianity Etc › Re: Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit Refutes The Existence Of God? by Kay17: 7:01pm On Jul 30, 2012
caezar: This is an obvious trap.

You ask for the nature of "the source of all this chaos". I contend that it's nature (even assuming that what we observe really is chaos) is irrelevant until and unless we can agree that it is self-existent and agree on its other necessary qualities.

This is what I find most atheists fall back on. They cannot show that a sentient first cause is logically invalid, but they can, by using straw arguments, argue that its very nature invalidates its existence.

No sir. I refuse to be drawn into that argument. Let's focus on the idea of a generic self-existent being. Be it God or science's singularity.
Ok, define the Character of the First Cause.

vedaxcool: No, the debate is flawed because we all end up in the same position we started, The God theory makes absolute sense because we could say exceptions, Something does not always have to come from something, that is the view point of people of religion, that God did existence is cannot be construed by the general theory of something gives out something, the God existence makes more sense that the universe emanating from nothing and then strangely organise itself by sheer what?
God becomes irrelevant since God himself cannot create the Universe from nothing, it must be ex deo OR reorganizing of preexisting material.

nyameke: God is everything and everyone.. we are all individuated aspect and expressions of the One God. The highest and perfect expression of of the One God came down and walked among us but we believed him not.
God is not in the sky but everywhere and nowhere. God is where you are at this minute. We are all Gods. A time will come when this guarded secret will be revealed to all..
OR that Reality is God, with whom everything else stands.
