Lol, oga stop all this hype.

The main reason you see Netflix pumping money is cos they know next year 2022 will be brutal in the streaming wars. That's when the big boys (traditional entertainment corporations) drops their biggest projects on streaming— HBOMax, Disney, Paramount.

Don't forget the King of the throne— GOT spin-off is coming, Amazon comes with LOTR, Disney signs 2022 with more MCU and The Mandalorian (Star Wars) content.

So Netflix knows it gotta sit up and deliver popular top content. That's why it's acquiring popular IPs like crazy even when they're overpriced.
Even Wheel of Time is undergoing season 2 production early next year (February I think) and you know the show isn't complete yet. Season 3 is already greenlit. Upcoming LOTR show already shooting season 2.

And one important thing: asides from subscribers and global acceptance and rave, you also need stellar reviews — I'm talking about winning some serious Awards. So bagging all these big shows without getting some top awards to show for your increased spending gives the narrative of money not well spent.

If you notice Netflix is trying to remove the image they have about "all style and no substance". People see them as having tons of content but mediocre quality. Same can't be said for the brand name of HBO/Max or Amazon. Even Disney.
Arcane has to bag an award or more for Netflix though, or there really is no justice in this world.

Shang Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings: 1/4 star.

A fascinating family dynamic ruined by dumbed down combat scenes and sub par visual effects.
Sub par visual effects? Lord Raals were you watching in 240p?

All caught up with The Wheel of Time. The music composer flexed so hard in the 3rd act of the 4th episode, I had to look him up. I see what you're doing, Lorne Barfe. Keep doing the good work.
Also, that was some pretty cool choreography with the channeling.
Show's picking up steam and even though I've heard some book readers say it's taking a few liberties with the source material, I'm definitely interested in the world they've shown us so far and where the story's heading.
Alanna a badass in more ways than one, taking on multiple opponents on the field and in the sack and still with energy to spare. Currently my favorite Aes Sedai.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) 5/10

When Venom was released in 2018, one of the major criticisms was about how Eddie and his symbiote weren't a close call to the personalities of their comic counterparts. So what did Sony do about that in the sequel? Drive them even farther from the source material at 200 mph. Seriously this duo, while I found them mostly fun to watch, are nothing close to the Eddie and Venom from any of the comics. There's taking liberty with the source material (I'm looking at you, MCU) and then there's basically abandoning it.

Overlooking the fact that it's an adaptation, Venom: Let There Be Carnage isn't a well-written movie. The plot struggles to make more sense. Tom Hardy might be a phenomenal actor but he'll need to work harder of he wants to add writing to his resumé. The dialogue is cringeworthy in a lot of places.
The movie is basically carried by the banter between Eddie and Venom and the entertaining action scenes. Which is kinda a shame when you remember that you have 3 seasoned veterans in this, Tom Hardy, Woody Harrelson and Naomie Harris. This could quite possibly be Hardy's worst outing and Harrelson and Harris feel wasted in their roles, even with the bit of effort Harrelson put in.
I was personally entertained by the movie but it really did nothing to keep me any more invested in the story or characters. If it weren't for the post credits, I would've been quite ok with closing the chapter here.
Anyways, here's hoping they get back on track with their next appearance.

Chibudollar:
really, Samuel MF Jackson is my man any day.
Jackson could quite possibly be my more entertaining of the duo. Both I'd put Denzel over as the better actor. At the end of the day, they're both mainly a draw mostly because of their charisma.

Ehen, I thought as much. I been one say no be Cowboy be this cos the style slightly different and you say na the live action series you dey watch.

It means Cowboy Bepop get movie adaptation/ extension?
Not exactly extension. The movie takes place between episodes 23 and 24 of the anime show.

I actually decided to finish everything with the Bebop anime before continuing the show. I've left the movie on my PTW list for almost a decade now.
I'll finish the show next week.

Red Notice (2021)

Delivered on just about everything the trailer promised. Fun chases, witty banter and seductive innuendos were just dripping all through this entertaining Netflix production. And the lead trio had amazing chemistry between them.
For how simple the plot and storytelling is, I have to applaud them for the twist. Most definitely did not see it coming.
I was sufficiently entertained by this and I'm really looking forward to a sequel.

Baddestguyp:
rest...
Naruto is definitely not average...
After my rewatch 2 months ago...
I rated it a 9/10...
Only the fillers and the 2nd half of the war arc that stopped it from being 10/10 show

-Most memorable characters (memorable not best, even after 20 years of watching I'm sure you'll remember the names and most things about at least 20 characters...no other show can do this)
-The best and the most memorable fight scenes ever 10/10 (I can write full arcticle to support this)
- World building 8/10
- Villains 9/10
- Story 7.5/10
- Music 10/10
Overhype. It's a 7.5 at best

TV/Movies › Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by Kaycee7(m):
jikins:
Exactly!

Its not a must to see the hype in every series ever hyped. Art is literally subjective. You not seeing the hype doesn't make those who see it wrong. Just means it just didn't do it for you and that's fine. But the constant need to repeat it multiple times is what I don't understand. I mean we have heard your point kindly move on.
The funny thing is that the person has an average but very popular show that they also hype to the moon but can't seem to get over the fact that people love a show he doesn't rate highly.
