If most of the Gundam fanbase is to be believed, we shall be yuri baited yet again.

azula taking over ba sing se definitely is not cheap to me, what exactly is the reason you think this? azula has always been shown to be a very good strategist, this was the same girl that gave the avatar and his friends sleepless night while pursuing them, was able to escape from the avatar, toph, katara, sokka, zuko and iroh at literal gunpoint! azula is a sweet talker, and no matter how zuko will claim he can't fall for her tricks, she brought a deal she knew zuko couldn't pass up, also no matter what zuko saw during his journey was enough to sway his ideology taught to him since birth! the fire nation and the earth kingdom has been at war way before zuko was born, whatever zuko saw was probably the casaulty of war, that still won't make him think the fire nation are the bad guys, it's war! this things happen! also you don't expect a few hours with katara and her sob story to suddenly bring zuko to the light, knowing full well zuko almost did the same thing in episode 1 of s1, not also forgetting him burning suki village. this characters are not one dimensional, they are complex, stop expecting a predictable outcome instead expect the unexpectable, like azula almost killing aang
Just going to first address that Azula's takeover of the Dai Li was not just for plot.
Azula and Long Feng presented two different aspects of power and ambition. Long Feng represents the grower who starts from nothing and scratches and claws his way to the top or what they perceive to be the top.
Azula represents the heir who is born into authority and groomed for it. Long Feng fights for authority. Azula expects it. And because Long Feng comes from below, he possesses a chip on his shoulder that is absent in Azula who's always stood on top.
Long Feng, in the grand scheme of things, seemed small-minded. He was content to consolidate power in Ba Sing See and rule that patch.
Azula wanted the world. Ba Sing Se was nothing but another addition to her conquest.
Long Feng delivered Ba Sing Se to the Dai Li. Azula was a promise to expand their reach to the world.
Azula wasn't wrong in her speech to Long Feng. He was a persona of a power, a strong one, but a persona still. She was the real deal.

On the topic of Zuko, his betrayal in Ba Sing Se took his character development to another level. In the first season, Zuko has a ship, a crew and funds to aid his hunt of the Avatar. By the second season, he had nothing but Iroh left. Having hit rock bottom, he finally lets himself be taught by Iroh and builds a different life. But as his betrayal reveals, he hadn't fully let go of being royalty. The life he'd built with Iroh in the second season wasn't fully his choice. He'd just made lemonade out of the lemons life dealt him.

I find it odd that anyone would think he betrayed Iroh because he trusted Azula. Basically his first discussion with Azula in the 3rd season was to find out her angle for making him the one who killed the Avatar.
Zuko tries to consolidate his place in court, even going as far as trying to make sure the Avatar is truly dead.

By the time he realizes this isn't the person he wants to be and turns his back on the Fire Nation, it's completely his choice by then. Not as a last resort or a means of escape, he finally chooses to give up what he'd been chasing for since the first season and forge his own path.

There's a reason why he had trouble bending when he left the Fire Nation. Each bending form is associated with an attribute. Earth with strength, water with fluidity and fire with passion. Zuko's passion had always come from his anger. When he left, he'd made peace with himself and couldn't draw passion from that anger again which is why he had to discover a new way to bend.

There's a reason why Zuko's character arc is considered one of the greatest in animated history and Avatar: The Last Airbender one of the greatest animated shows of all time. There's so much depth in that story. Every time you rewatch, discuss and introspect on it, there always something profound to discover.

After my opinion post, Baba vex talk say e no rate The Wire again. He said he found out most people have it on their great list of all time mostly because critics say so. Hence, he's removed it from his watchlist as he just found out it wasn't his taste or what he likes.
Person wey dey mouth off recently say when he sees good content he'll know just by observing it. He knows when something is worth "his time". How come you missed this while being in your "most revered" premium watchlist for some time? grin

Guess he deleted the post after he reason the okoto.

One thing he keeps missing is you might not have watched something or didn't appreciate something while you did watch it, doesn't negate the fact that other ppl enjoyed and revered it. I haven't watched Breaking Bad but I know well not to bad mouth it cos that show will easily sit on any top 5 show of all time, no cap. If that many people say something is that good, I don't think you're island of knowledge to claim you know better than them.

In ten years time I don't think the next generation will keep our opinion of Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad being one of the best TV shows of all time if not the best.
That's life.....ever evolving.
It's what is in the zeitgeist you'd start hearing.

At some point The Wire and The Sopranos held that record no one thought they'd be bested in a few decades.

Few things wey I no like about the list na absence of Boardwalk Empire, True Detective, Rome, Lovecraft Country, True Blood, The Originals and Euphoria. But I guess na the 60-80s shows wey the author pack full there limit some of these shows appearance. After all na him know Wetin him watch. Me never watch them.
His lack of sincerity will always make him remain regularly inconsistent.
Hilarious how he's talking about people praising The Wire because of critics but any small thing, baba don rush pull up IMDb.
Na who dey take am seriously I dey pity.

That's the blueprint.

Amazon really had huge balls keeping their release timeline and not budging when HBO put HOTD side by side with RoP.
I always said it then that HBO did it on purpose to prove a point and they were never afraid of LOTR fame whatsoever.

After all, HBO is the originator of big budget fantasy. You no fit talk say you Sabi pass them wey create this genre for TV and still being the founder of prestige TV since the 90s. They were going up against a pioneer and industry juggernaut not to talk of the greatest TV franchise of all time.
I no know who jazz Amazon for fantasy genre. Look at all their other shows like Reacher, The Boys and Invincible all doing well but whenever it gets to fantasy, they go just kick penalty enter throw in.

This is was the main problem and everything just went to sh!t from there. The Battle with the Night King should have been the "Mother of all Battles" in the entire history of Tv series across any genre. I mean the character development was actually Voldemort and Thanos level. To even speak his name in westeros sent shivers, I completely lost my sh!t when he turned Viserion into a wight, that's like , one of the greatest wow moment in Tv series history, so to see how all these character development ended with that piss poor dark af battle was a great disservice and left a bitter taste.
Apparently, the Night King threat could have been solved since by sending the faceless men to kill him. D & D no rate us at all. Spent the bulk of the budget building set for the destruction of King's Landing instead of paying for better lighting for that battle.

Also, if you're going to go against Dragons, try not to alienate the main fanbase of your show.

So this is the article list causing brouhaha few days ago.
Just went though it.

I found about 37 top shows I've watched or planned to watch someday soon. From the shows listed it's a credible list. Half of these shows will easily get into any top 50-100 list except maybe some of the 60-80s shows or procedurals I might have issh with. Well, each person with his own taste.

It's a credible list.... Almost half of these I've seen over the years on other top 50+ shows listings from other prestigious journals. I mainly find issue with its poor listing of GOT but I understand and know it's Rolling Stones' bias.
It's a great list especially the Top 50 section.
E no cause any brouhaha. Na person wey no sabi just wan make noise.

Are you familiar with her work?
The Azula actress I think do look the part tho. As for the acting, I don't know.
Legion and Prey. She's got the badass action thing down pat. Not really throwing shade at the Azula actress. But if you'd ever asked me who I thought Amber would play in Avatar, I'd have never in a million years said Yue. Anyways, maybe she gets to expand her range here.

I also hold this belief.
The God tier hood of GOT early seasons is the main reason ppl have issues with the last two seasons.
I can argue anywhere that seperate season 8 from the previous seasons and treat it as a solo product, and it will easily get an 8/10.
Ppl are just pissed for how Daenarys turned out and prolly cos of John Snow and how Knight King got killed easily.
As for me I wasn't shocked or really annoyed for Dany's quick turn. It was always foreshadowed in previous seasons. Na ppl just wan continue to be blind to it.
Of course, the reactions have an element of relativity to them but that doesn't make them any more invalid.
Lots of lacklustre entries into many series would make for great standalone content but that doesn't change the fact that they were a serious drop in quality in their respective franchises.

Yeah, the Dany turn wasn't even one of the bad parts of S8. The anticlimactic ending to the Night King Saga was the first big issue. That final council meeting was the nail in the coffin.
