It's obvious he is dead, from the pic u can tell his body has started to decompose which implies he died very early in the morning. From he's dressing one can tell he was on his way to work. My best guess is that it was a robbery incident gone bad by the way he looks roughed up.

The picture shown in the OP is not the picture of the dead man..... I drove by it this morning....the dead body is laying on the side of the service lane immediately after the pedestrian bridge and the body colour was way darker than the picture of the man shown...from a glimpse of it...it was male,more like a mad person so to speak...MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE!

from the little i know, car fire usually starts from the engine which would have giving one ample time to make a dash for it,
