That's why he's treating Osun people harshly. You can see where the lies started. What do you gain by making stuff up? Aregbesola is 100% Ijesha. Quit the lies. |

989900B: While illegal miners and Fulani herdsmen are worries that should be addressed (like I said we need another thread for that), comparing that to pipeline vandals is like comparing 'apples and monkeys' -- that's how far apart.
Read the article again with an open mind, and tell me the 2 other ills you mentioned are comparable to pipeline vandalism. Illegal miners don't piggyback on other peoples equipment. They drill their own mines and do whatever rudimentary processing all by themselves. Pipeline vandals are economic saboteurs that destroy million dollars worth of investment to be able to steal oil. I won't have any issues with them if they illegally drill for oil using their own rigs and transport the crude using their own pipelines rather than destroying corporate and government property which they did not pay a dime for. |

tigerclaws: [s][/s] try and read the history of South Africa many died for what they believed and many died for freedom and many ups and downs at first it seems impossible but in the end they were free lesson it's better to die for something than die for nothing (fulani massacre) it's better to die while standing than for your generation to knell forever and be oppressed because cowards dies millions of times but the brave dies once.
ask yourself this question have you ever heard in news that a fulani was sentenced to death after all their attrocities but if you defend yourself they'll sentence you to death just like they did to one man. tell me in your inner heart is this the kind of country you want for your generations a country where they will be tormented forever? You for give Ojukwu that advice before absconding to ivory coast. Save it for the marines |

We give the government 10 days to release Kanu or else hell will break loose. We give the government 2 days or else 20 million Biafrans will protest and shut Abuja, Lagos, New York, Tokyo, Dubai and London down. Massive protest in Pluto and Jupiter. UN security council has drawn the map of Biafra. Freedom is imminent! Putin and Obama just spoke with Kanu and gave Buhari a 2 day ultimatum. Our Israeli cousins are coming liberate us and install Kanu as king of Tell Aviv **** Not only are they a bunch of clowns, they also have massive delusions. More like hallucinations. |

A quote from Mandela is below The time comes in the life of any nation when there remain only two choices – submit or fight. That time has now come to South Africa. We shall not submit and we have no choice but to hit back by all means in our power in defence of our people, our future, and our freedom. Fishing. That's what you are doing. Ogundipe never harbored any such ambitions. Stay focused and let's concentrate on that bloody egomaniac and coward. |

Just as the Germans are more successful than their neighbors, Jews to their neighbors, so shall Igbos be to Yorubas and Hausas perpetually. No amount of envy, hate can change this...even if a yoruba or Hausa steals 900 billion, gets phd, work sun up to sun down, he can never be like Igbos...why? All men are not created equal! And when you are this boastful, what do you want an Ogun state indigene to do when they increased their IGR close to 50%? Smh. Lolz. Hopeless case. |

People are saying things would have been worse if GEJ had won, but how can we tell if GEJ is not in power?
One this I know is that the Gej administration and economic team had seen the tough times coming and probably made plans to cushion the effect.
On the other hand, Buhari and his team were blinded by power that they did not see it coming. Therefore they made no preparations. That's why they went on promising heaven an eat, which they can't deliver. You should relocate from your parents abode and stop sucking udder. |

Paretomaster: yes, we can keen importing toothpicks, simply because China hav a comparative advantage of producing toothpicks than Nigeria, wat I mean is dis, it's not that we don't hav bamboo or something, but importing toothpicks from China is a lot cheaper than producing it here, because China have access to cheap labour, and technology...so in dis case, will u advice we produce toothpicks at say #100, when we can import it at #30?
on d issue of importing everything from China, we can blame ourself for that, because we so much rely on oil as our major source of export, hence neglecting other areas of investment, which reduce us to mono economy , but God willing if we can diversify, d whole economy, like Ebonyi state is doing in term of rice production, Sokoto in d area of Agriculture, and d likes, u can be sure we will have enough to export, and rely less on crude..... Amen. Amin. We'll get there slowly but surely. Let's just limit our reserves exposure to the yuan. |

antispexish: you are making this statement as if trading in yuan is the only thing pmb is doing. He is also making efforts on how to reduce imports on products we can't produce. moreover, there are some products that we need that we cannot produce in the next 10 years, this deal will ease that problem considerably.
There are other ways to force production in nigeria while easing the cost of import that will benefit nigeria and nigerians.
layman's view: toothpick from china= 5 naira toothpick from naija= 6 naira solution= importer from china pay 1 naira extra import duty. money will be used to surpport local toothpick production Obviously toothpick was used to aggrandize the point. Let's wait for import substitution to leave the conception stage to an actualization stage. My biggest gripe is holding a significant share of our reserves in yuan. We will be losing money with all sorts of forex plays that are extraneous to the market. Basically China playing with their exchange rates. China loans you in yuan and expects you to pay back in dollars should speak volumes. China holds majority of its reserves in dollars and not yuan should also say something. |

izospindle: no no no you are getting it wrong .......if china devalue their currency the naira will strengthen against the Yuan......do u kw even the dollar losses value at times. this it is the yuan thats losing value and not the naira. the naira will remain the same Naira will be strong and based on past experience rather than use it to buy equipment, we'll use our money to buy toothpick and chicken from China. We are still exposed to shocks from Bejing. That's for the consumers. For the government, if we keep our reserves in Yuan, when China devalues then our reserves tank. The yuan devaluation is typically an intentional move by the government and not controlled by the market. Even the Chinese government maintain a dollar based reserve. |
Politics › Re: THE ECONOMIST! PMB Has Done It Again. by kayfra: 1:54pm On Apr 15, 2016 |
sinkhole: Have we diversified since we started trading in dollar? Diversification is our character and not the currency we trade in! We have a genuine opportunity at the moment to right the ship. It will be a disaster if we don't fix the long term problem for a short term fix by being on China's leash. At the end of the day, if most of our trades are within Nigeria like in other developed countries, then our fate won't be so dependent on foreign currencies. |

asorocker: if you remove all lagos components , for instance the revenue going to ogun because of its proximity to Lagosor better still compare 4 south west states to 4 south east states and the result will be clearer.
Ogun state is growing as a result of the proximity to lagos and not because of any fantastic governor or entrepreneurial spirit or any natural or people resource That is a futile exercise. Just to get some quick metrics, we'LL do the simple thing and basically report lagos separately. The influence of Lagos stretches past SW states, so it's a fruitless exercise to account for it the way you propose. |
