Technology Market / Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by kayphyzee(m): 9:15pm On Apr 03, 2020
Hello Professor.

I bought a new Elepaq Constant (yaofeng) 2.5KVA last November and the generator is presently giving me concerns. There are times when the Gen will refuse to start until the technician checks it. All he does is to change the plug or wash it and then we are good for say three weeks.

Then the cycle continues again. This is becoming frustrating for me as per new generator. It has refused to start this evening again.

Abeg, what could be wrong with the Gen? I'm thinking of engaging another technician. I look forward to your reply. Thanks.

How about starting with cleaning of the IACV (idle air control valve) it's mounted beside the throttle body which is on the intake manifold and your throttle body is cable operated.

Notice that sensor indicated with the orange colour arrow? That's it. Usually, kazeem do block a valve hole with piece of rag or paper or polyethylene. All you needed to do was get a proper cleaner to clean it after opening it, after you're done cleaning it, recouple it back properly.

Hello bro, I am presently battling a P0505 (IACV) error code on my RAV4. I removed the initial throttle body, followed the cleaning routine for both the IACV and the throttle body but the cleaning did not solve the issue. I bought and installed another tokunbo entire throttle body about two months back but the code is still present. That's the only code I have on the ride when I scan it and I am so eager to get rid of it, because I suspect it's contributing to my fuel issue plus the erratic RPM shifts sometimes. Now I have two scenarios -

1. Could it be that the replacement unit is faulty? or

2. Is it possible that the code has been permanently stored on the ECU? Just so you know, I bought another ECU after I purchased the ride to solve the transmission issue and some other electrical faults.

What do you think? Thank you.

My good people, I need your assistance ahead of tomorrow. I have an issue with the brake system of my Rav4. In trying to bypass traffic on Tuesday morning, I passed a shortcut that was waterlogged. Lagosians will remember that it rained on Tuesday morning.

Long story short, my brake began malfunctioning รณ. 2 times out of 10, when I pressed the brake it takes time to respond leading to long stopping distance. The brake will become hard in the process. Any ideas on what the issue is? Haven't driven the car since Wednesday.

The gear selections stopped at gear 3

Hello, I suspect it's an electrical/wiring fault. Please meet a competent Technician who should trace the wire trays from the gearbox to the ECU etc. I had a similar issue with my vehicle only to find out that it was a unconnected wire.

So my car papers (the vehicle license blabla) expired in April then it dawned on me that I've had may beautiful baby Matrix for 14months now! Wow!!

I'll review this beautiful barbie without mincing words.

When I got my car, I had zero knowledge about cars. This is my first car, no guide or previous experience.
For the first 4month I enjoyed my ride but driving wasn't consistent as I was still a learner and yet to understand the new 'status'. So usage was minimal.. I drove once/twice in a week.

During the 4th month, I started hearing some kinda screeching noise from the wheels, I couldn't place it..Fuel consumption was high! 6000naira fuel (full tank) would take me to marina 2x in a week and the fuel indicator is close to E already).
Well I ended up spending 25,000naira at a kazeem's place....

The noise was persistent and fuel consumption was still the same.

Met with another kazeem, he diagnosed axle as the persistent problem. Spend over 50k on that one.. I enjoyed my barbie for 1month.. Axle wahala started.

Anyways. I decided to visit another mechanic that suggested I remove the axle completely, did as he suggested..change fuel something something cheesy, brake pad and since then, all I've done to this car is to do service it... I drive my car everyday now to everywhere I go.

... I'm not sure it feels any different before and after the axle removal

I'll do matrix over and over again! cheesy but hey! I've got my eyes on rav4.
if you want a lovely trouble-free car for yourself or your woman, this car is it!!

Hello Yettymuse, how did you resolve the fuel consumption issue?

scan and replace knock sensor

Morning Oga Gazzuzz, the issue has been resolved. It was a wiring issue that caused it.

Thanks for your response though.

I am looking at resolving a P0505 - IACV issue now. Torn between buying a complete throttle body (or just the IACV) or just cleaning the present one. I tried a DIY but the cleaning was not thorough (lack of tools and throttle cleaner).

Ok nice. A visit to the mechanic will save you stress of breaking something... grin but then as regards d cleaning agent.... Different school of thought. Some say carb clean is too harsh. So say U can use it. So sincerely, i dnt kno. Whenever possible i dont use them tho. Only if i absolutely need to.

Thanks

AutoMoTech:

Sorry for late reply
That code is set when the Engine computer senses a fault with your idle speed control system.
Possible faults are;
1. Faulty Wiring for the idle valve (if wire don cut or e no make good contact) solution is to check and fix the wiring.
2. Idle Valve dt is stuck or closed. Wouldn't move regardless of engine computer input. Solution you might need to remove the idle control valve and clean it if it will still function otherwise change it.
3. Dirty throttle body. Even if the idle valve is functioning, a dirty throttle body won't allow enough air get into the engine. Sometimes the ECM interpretes this as a fault with the idle valve. So pls while checking the above kindly ensure you clean the throttle body as best as you can.

Thanks for the feedback. I attempted a DIY today and got to the IACV. Quite dirty and had some black soot. I didn't have enough tools to loosen the rubber clamped on the throttle body. I removed the IACV from the throttle body, cleaned same regardless but not so thorough. There were two screws that I could not remove to allow me roll the sensor for free movement (I saw a YouTube video on how to clean the IACV). I will visit the mechanic next Saturday since I know what do now.

For cleaning agent, can I use a carb cleaner if I couldn't find a throttle cleaner.

Thanks again.

Gazuzz:

RAV4 2002-2006

This particular vehicle is plagued with a transmission failure caused by a defective engine/transmission ECU. The problems starts when the car shifts from 2nd gear back to first before switching to 3rd and 4th gear, it wears out the friction plates.

Sadly most technicians do not know it is a very simple problem to solve , and the transmission is replaced, the engine ECU is swapped with the wrong part number and the vehicle runs and drives, but poorly, the temp guage stops working, load is not compensated when the a/c system is turned on and the idle system is always erratic .

As usual the same issues with a full aluminium 1az engine apply and if there is any history of overheating and abuse same conditions follow as the Camry 2az.

My little contribution, anyone who is interested in this ride should SHINE his/her eyes very well, particularly Nigerian used. Leaking oil - Run; Reverse gear jerks - Run; Temperature Guage not working - Run; Fan runs constant-Run. Most importantly, assess with a skilled technician.

I'm still paying for a mistake in December, 2018. Had to buy a tokunbo 1az in April - 250k, ECU-30k, All sensors changed, Catalyst already deleted by former owner. Other repair works still ongoing.

I also bought a naija used car, reinstalled the thermostat & reverted cooling fans back to factory setting without any issues.. So you might be lucky like me grin

I had this same issue earlier in the year. Got a p1725 code. Found out that a wire left unconnected by the previous owner. I found a gear technician who traced all the wiring and discovered what the problem was. I think you should scan it first before taking any further steps.

Dear Motorguru, I've got a P0505 on my Rav4 2001. My mechanic said the throttle body came with the new engine that was installed in the vehicle two months back.

The code was registered on the old engine and now this new engine. Have you any ideas on how to fix this?

Thank you.

Hello @earthrealm and obekediamondfuto, I am happy to report that my prolong gear issue was resolved today. I am so elated so much that I paid the guy more than we bargained. All along, it had been an electrical wiring problem.

He traced/tested each port on the ECU and wires from the valve body connector for continuity. Did some corrective works etal. Long story short, vehicle entered 4 and 5 o. I entered Lagos/Ibadan for testing and I was more than happy. At 100km/h, my rpm was at 2000 or so. I hit 120 on the long bridge, hit the cruise control button and eased off my leg on the throttle. Baby boy was just sailing.

Overdrive button now functioning. Return trip, I hit the O/D button and I could hear the high pitch from the engine. O/D on again, and I was back to 4 and hit 5 before reaching Berger.

By the way, I serviced with T-IV after the electrical work finished before going for the test-drive.

Thank you so much for your help.
