And i still INSIST,had Drogba put away those begging chances, the ref's decision would have been rendered inconsequential a la those goofs by the ref in the first s/f.

Enough said! cool

I can bet you and Debosky said the same thing when Henry was denied Ballon d'Or/FIFA Player Of The Year when he was plying his trade at Arsenal.
I feel your crying more than the bereaved is the hypocrisy here grin,or is it the fear of Iniesta,Henry,Xavi et al thats is making you less-objective?

Did Ovrebo stopped Drogba from burying the chances he had over the 2 legs or maybe he's part of the plan and his act after the match was part of the farce too  huh

Sauron, now i am sure you bought into the India(99)-Nig(0) story grin

amigoes:
If the match had been Nigeria Vs Argentina (i.e. NIGERIA=Chelsea and ARGENTINA= Barcelona),
With Ovrebo (the ref) ignoring several penalty appeals,
How many of us will (still) retain our (line of) arguments?
How many of us will give FIFA a pat on the back?

The issue here is,, -lets be objective, -the Referee goofed.
And the fact that he goofed repeatedly lent credence to all these anti "all-English final" theories.
I believe the less objective post are the ones trying to shove the conspiracy shenanigan down our throat. embarassed

There is no doubt that the referee GOOFED(the red card to Abidal was the highlight),just like the ref that refused to award Barca a penalty in the 1st leg.

If UEFA had wanted to eliminate English clubs, the Q/F pairing was a better opportunity, damn i cant believe i am trying to justify my belief that there was no conspiracy
This is hindsight analysis. . . . . .

Everyone felt Barcelona would take anyone apart with the way they have been playing in La liga.
They have scored goals in abundance even in the European competition so no one felt they would come stuck.
Even after the 1st leg, they were odds on to win the tie but as the game wore on last night. . . . .They were facing a hopeless situation.
Trust me, the referee's ear-piece was connected directly to Platini.

Barcelona never looked like scoring.
How many times have u seen a Barca side that failed to record a shot on target in 70 mins this season?
Referee knew he had to help em out. So he ignored all the genuine penalty calls that woulda won the game for Chelsea.
Granted, there are English men in UEFA but it takes just 2 people to establish conspiracy.

THINK!!!!
Are you for real?

Chelsea were on top of Barcelona after ABIDAL's red card but they didn't do enough(IMO) to get the killer goal.
Not with the way Drogba was falling as if the turf was his bed.

@Kay-pumpin

I was watching the match with Barca fans . . he was so pissed off at the way the played. . . He said can't we play shots from outside for once. . .? He wondered why they had to take that extra touch, that extra pass and complianed bitterly that they were too predictible. . .
Chelsea we hard done by the missed chances, not even the ref and he was shitty was most part of the game.

Giving soft calls and looking for linesmen when he was supposed to take charge.

Refs that officiate top matches and in top leagues around Europe are the men for this kinda games, not someone from Norway who will be distracted by Messi's foot and Drogba's jerry curls grin

And as per Barca, there is only one team they can e comfortable against in EPL and it is Arsenal.

Chelsea can look back and be proud, though a loss is a LOSS cool

And I tell you that you are still saying rubbish . . . You think Barca's game plan was not shit . . . They get the ball, find Messi or Iniesta, they try to make triangles in the opposition 18 . . . and even when they made 380 passes in Nou-Camp and still could not get a goal, they still come back to the Bridge with the same tactics. For 91mins they couldn't get a shot on goal . . . they are not good in the air, they can't score from crosses and they can't defend well.

You call that good tactics. . . Do you really know what you are saying ?
I was correctly predicting the next person Barca players will pass to during the game to my friends until we all get bored.

They were that predictable!

Invariably arsenal are not a better team and they are over-hyped.
If you meant Arsenal not better team compared to Man U and Chelsea, you are not far from the truth.

If you meant compared to Barca,Arsenal does not have the mono-dimensional approach to the game as Barca does most times and that is as a result of EPL's baptism.
Arsenal exploits the wings, hoof the ball when chasing games et al.You CAN NOT survive in EPL with Barca's approach. In UCL,it's the reason none of the other European countries do not want to play EPL teams. The way Man U adds flair and grit is exceptional and teams have to learn that.

Arsenal over-hyped? grin Who dey hype or rate Arsenal  undecided

Jealous of Barca? Why can't we argue for once without the word jealousy comin up undecided

As far as i am concerned, tapping the ball around doesn't make u a better team.

Over the 2 legs it was flair vs doggedness, fancy vs effectivess and need i need say beauty vs beast.

Chelsea had the antidote to Barca's rigmarole till that slip.

Barca a la Arsenal may be a beauty to watch, but they need to learn some things off the like of Chelsea and Man U.

@nateevs
What tackle did Abidal make? He barely touched Drogba, that's if he did at all. Go watch it again. It should never have been a red. And, you're glossing over the fact that the ref robbed Barca too.

Please, y'all should quit the whining and accept that you bungled it.

Pierluigi Collina and no other for the final oooooo!!!
He's retired i guess undecided

It will an interesting final with both teams losing men out unjustifiably i.e Fletcher and Abidal.

But Barca with no Marquez,Alves and Abidal undecided,i want to see how they will survive.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here! by kaypumpin2(m): 10:39pm On May 06, 2009
@presido

Barca is not over-hyped?I laughed in sans skrit grin

Mono-dimensional play and predictable passes.Arsenal have a similar style but with some sense of urgency and slight cutting edge.

Barca will consistently be outisde the big 4 were they in EPL.They are freaking boring and appaling against an organized side.

Did you see Messi all night?Alves crosses were ridiculous. No spark nor grit.

The game could have continued for like 6 hrs without Barca scoring but for that loss of concentration by Chelsea.

Barca may rule in La liga but in EPL,i dare say they will be struggling with Aston Villa and Everton for 5th position. grin

I think this possesiveness of a thing wears off as a relationship grows old.

Its management at the early part of the relationship is KEY;be honest,trust-worthy and tell believable lies when you have to cheesy.

Of course it worsens if bad precedents are laid.

Im fully in supprt of Drogbas behaviour. I would have liked to see all ma players behave the same way. They should have laid hands on him.
They know better not to do that.

One thing is for sure though,Barca is over-hyped in la liga.

presido1:
Those of you UEFA don't want to see two English clubs in the final, if that is the case they can as well tell the ref to officiate agaisnt Man United on the final day.
The ref takes decision on his own and not UEFA's.
All the same itz United torny and we gonna bring it home.

For once i feel for the Chavs.

But i must say refs from top leagues of the world MUST be used for matches of this magnitude and quality.

Not some ref from some obscure part of the world who becomes dire when push comes to shove.

Dodgy decisions marred the game, even Abidal's red card was wrong.

Chelsea make una pele.

Barca is way too one dimensional. They are making the same mistake they made last week.

Knock the ball around predictably till you are clueless. . . . . .

Chelsea will score a 2nd via Anelka or Drogba in the first 15 mins of the 2nd half and if there is going to be any Barca's goal,it WILL be a penalty.
