Am still not happy with the hull defeat, it will take lots of winnings to overcome that defeat. look at chelsea, their ground is a fortress, they NEVER loose there, i do't care about arsenal loosing once in a century to hull, but loosing at the emirates should be an absolute no no. The emirates should be a fearful ground, not a place where any division three team could walk in and take 3 points.
Chelsea invicibility @ wankford bridge cnt continur 4 eva and no matter how its been 2 losses @ the emirate so far isnt a bad deal.Someday, some how someway we are meant to lose to some team which happens to be Hull this weekend. Its a good thing the lads recovered fast enough to beat Porto and lets just hope they can be more consistent as the season pans out.

@Criz,

so losin @ on ones home ground is now a measure for class abi?No be ur fault now.BTW,wheres Hannibal now?

this will be my 2nd time makin a post on this thread so i will say hello to e'one esp,lc,salsera and tampico.Your insightful post have been very hmn hmn, well insightful(that's for loss of better words pple).

My 2 cents on Uti is that i guess he misses the essence of the BBA sometimes, andthat essence is that its a game show and that it comprises of not only him but other people. Its Ok to seek attention but to do it and not manage it well is his undoing. The tantrum he threw yday was OK'ed by many of us here cos hes Nigerian. Now i knw many of y'all are gonna ask me in what way did u endorse his puerile action,i jsut see no one has condemned his action here and that was quite a fit yday.Really that was a condemnable way of ventin those bottled emotions.

Now back to this evening's nomination, for cryin out loud y would Uti not nomimate Mimi? Why?By now everyone knws Tk will swap so why would Uti of all pple still go ahead and nominate somone u knw will still replace himslf with someone else, why not Mimi.Has he forgotten $100k is up for grab or does he just think he can this is all kid's play.

I hope he doesnt get evicted next week, but this time i jsut feel the odds are really stacked against him cos Munya and Ricco are really strong competitors

i pray we win tmr cos no matter how i try to pacify myself since saturday ,am just yet to recover frm that incubus that came in form of that defeat @ the emirate.I cringed, perspirated, pinched and jabbed @ nothing exactly during the match and am yet to recover frm that excruciatin torture. The last i felt like this was in 2005 champions league final and maybe wen nigeria lost to italy @ the 2nd round of the world cup in 1994.

Yeah we were wasteful on the day,and its nufin new.The only new thing is we paid for it dearly with a defeat at our hallowed fortress.

football is logic provided the indices are kept constant.
yet again another warped logic culminating in drivel spewing. Now you are makin me feel like u r the stan eminem rapped about. How cld a game like football have its indices kept constant. Then it turns to those action movies in which the bad guy cum villain must die and hero must be celebrated.

arsenal cannot win the league if they lose at home.

it is different from arsenal will win the league if they don't lose at home.

they are 2 different statements.

arsenal will not beat any member of the top 4 away from emirates.

besides, this is your 2nd loss in as few games as 6.

look at the quality of the team u lost to, fulham and hull.

what happens when u travel to stamford bridge, anfield and fort knox?
U must surely be  havin a ball tonight with ur crystal ball init

football has surely turned mathematics and logics.

Arsenal  shld den jsut give up as the competition is already ended and losin to small teams now ends a team's dream of winnin the league.

now here we are with pple like stan not only turnin footie pundit overnight but hettin all clairvoyant and suddenly thier crystal ball tells em it over for Arsenal cos they didnt fly out of the block a la Usain Bolt.If flyin outta the block wins the league, den arsenal clda been the winner last season and Manure wil be no where. As i av stated before, there are positives in today's game(yeah bite me) and am sure arsene and his wards wlda learnt the lesson, however bitter.
The luck element was just missin for arsenal today and i make bold to say that arsenal did not play their worst game @ the emirate.
The next thing now is for arsene to rally his boys and get up n doin for the next game. The world wldnt end even if we lost to swansea init
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by kaypumpin2(m): 9:45pm On Sep 27, 2008
lost a game and the world must end?
exactly my point.

Just days ago everyone was prasing arsene with unbridled psychophancy.Really i dnt think there is a big deal in us losing this game more so the team did not play badly. There will be days like this and there is still a long way to go.Its just 6 games for cryin out loud.

Is there any positive frm this loss?Yes,The positive being that we will learn frm this to  shed the toga of invicibility @ the emirate that breeds complacency.

Can arsenal recover from this?Yes they will and i see in this bois the urge to start frm the scratch and make things happen

Can arsenal still win the league after this loss?y'all knw that is still xtremely possible cos the competition is still wide open.

Let arsene take any positive he can frm this match and work on the down sides.Arsene knws too well not too imbibe any panicky feelin now but revival spirit.

With a bit tiny winy bit of luck the match wlda been rounded off in the first half but these kinda days wdo definately come up in football.Ask Man u how it feels to be beaten @ the "theatre of screams" on that day they wore that old jersey grin and still come back and win the league.

i share and understand your cautious optimism but i do not agree arsenals fortune is tied to one or 2 playas comin in or movin out.The present crop of players are definately OK and can only get better and gel more with each passin game.If hyper-activities during transfer window indeed bring more fortunes to a team, our lily livered neighbors shld be ontop of the league now.I am not sayin arsenal is 100% complete,no team in the premiership is,but these players am sure would have learnt fr last season's setback.Things can only get better.Even last season's performances was a feat, indeed an improvement viz a viz our performance in the previous season

Anyone who comes with the mind of bullyin arsenal psychologocally and physically may possibly be forgettin the Gallas factor.I refer us easily to the game with Newcastle.Behind the Bar lovin toon(barton) came with this cynical kung fu like tackle and gave a wry smile after that indicatin it was intentional.Mins later he was huggin the green grass of emirate due to Nasri's clippin of his feet.Just a simple way of sayin common dude,u can beat em in Man city and be the local champion in ur vicinity but dnt mess with moi. After the game,Keegan was all livid and while hes @ reprimandin Nasri(i doubt the poor boi sef understand wetin hin dey talk in English and cldnt answer),Gallas came stoutly to his defence.Such is the way arsenal wldnt take any of this bullyin lyin low.Bring it on Tigers,y'all gonna be tamed tmr.

I do agree with all what you ve said too and av You read that Chelsea has signed Miniero the free agent brazilian. It is moves like this that i feel Wenger should make sometimes, havin in mind that FS signed this guy because of Essien's long term injury. That been said, the problem we have it the inability to hold on to these guys when they are all grown up and shld be plyin their trade where they cut their footballin teeth.

Also i think we shld still give kudos to Wenger and the mercurial nature he always make things gel no matter what.He makes this things look simple even in the face of constant criticism against his ideals/principle and sometimes personality.Somehow this same team that even my very self think will struggle to beat Swansea this season is now churnin out 4- star performances.I hope they can maintain this form. And about the midfield, till January i feel we can still cope and rotate mechanism and tactics by putting Song and Denilson there togeda with Fab when we ought to play hard. These boys cld just win smthing this season in England, and i definately dnt mean the Carlin Cup.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by kaypumpin2(m): 10:06pm On Sep 24, 2008
Just feel my fellow gunners shld read this:

Arsene Wenger’s meagre spending habits have yet again been vindicated by what can only be described as an intergenerational humiliation. Granted the opposition were (only) Sheffield United, whose priorities surely lie in elevating their league position, ahead of competitions such as the Carling Cup. But the audacity and confidence with which Wenger’s latest “best ever crop” strode past Sheffield United shows why ‘le professor’ was reluctant to invest heavily in the summer. Barry, Alonso and Inler, linked with Arsenal this summer, are all great players who might have improved the Arsenal midfield but such purchases might deny these talented young players a chance to progress into the first team. After the performance of this team against Sheffield United, they deserve a chance to gain experience and many will no doubt one day star in the Premiership.

On the evidence of this match they are incredibly talented and they are of course still very, very young. The fact that many of this team are unable to purchase Carling’s product, due to their tender age will be only slight consolation to those left feeling geriatric by watching the team.

Carlos Vela, the latest Latin wonder-kid to emerge from Wenger’s scouting had been on the lips of many at the Emirates prior to kick off and his superciliously taken hat-trick had the raucous away fans silenced. On his first competitive start for the club, the Mexican added to his collection of ‘wonder goals’ with two outstanding goals that would have graced even Dennis Bergkamp’s collection. His goals did not embarrass the Sheffield outfit, “they would have done that to most teams” noted the United manager, Kevin Blackwell.

The Mexican teen will surely be knocking on the door of first team selection and this should spell worry for the more established forwards such as Robin Van Persie. These players also make you ask whether several international oil fortunes combined could buy such a collection of talent. I doubt many at the Emirates would swap Vela’s beautiful goals, effort and Latin mullet for the excesses of the likes of Robinho.

The hunger of the Arsenal players was also a breath of fresh air, not content to sit back when a couple goals ahead, they grew in confidence and ambition. Once the more seasoned Bentdner had settled nerves with a couple of well-taken goals, the team continued to press and express themselves. It was a fine demonstration of how the hunger of the young players can actually serve the side best. Older heads, bruised from the weekend’s encounters and preparing to meet the more earnest challenge of the more prestigious competitions would have settled for a more pragmatic victory. Players such as Vela have to turn it on in games such as this; this is the shop window in which they will display their talent to Wenger, their national coaches and others. Their desire to prove themselves means that Arsenal paradoxically has a Carling Cup team with greater desire than most premiership teams.

The other star for the evening was 16-year old, Jack Wilshere, a prospect that will gratify England fans. The schoolboy also throws doubt on Michel Platini’s bizarre claims about Wenger’s ‘businessman’ attitude. The claims centre on a row over Wenger’s suggestion that video evidence should be used for refereeing decisions. In response, Platini had labelled Wenger as being more concerned about business than the game. Whilst the economics graduate is certainly a shrewd businessman, on occasions his dedication to youth and grooming youngsters as opposed to ‘doing business’ a la Chelsea has cost him results. His widely admired youth development scheme and refusal to buy in new talent ridicules the UEFA chairman’s suggestions.

The gratification that comes from thumping a Championship side in this cup should not be over exaggerated, nor does one result mean a lot for the future of a club. It does however draw further support for Wenger’s often questioned lack of trophies. If Arsenal regularly produces the ‘eye candy’ of such mesmerising football it is a badly needed antidote for what many see as a commercialised, ‘success’ driven sport. Success in Wenger’s eyes is the beautiful game, not the gold laden one. Trophies last a season of celebration; beautiful football elicits memories that resonate in legend and folklore and help to create legacies that make the top flight English game the joy to behold that it is. Wenger’s teams have helped maintain the Premiership’s global status, not just billionaire fortunes.

i have stated it yesterday that united doesnt sem like a team to lose 2 matchs in aroll and i didnt expect that to happen today, not even in heaven. But reallly todays match boils down to what Manc didnt do,not what Chelsea did right.I knw if these bois in blues are asked some questions, they will definately falter.Did you see the same Porstmouth like smooth passin today,i bet you didnt. The period Chelsea had control of the game wasnt cos they up thier game,it was because man u let down the gauntlet momentarily. Now back to event on the field,

What in heavens name was Fergie doin leavinTevez $ Brown on the bench and avin Berba and Neville on the pitch.Yeah Berbatov has potentials and is a great striker, but i doubt if this guy can integrate in2 the Manu system.Hes just too lazy physically.A certain Tevez wlda run chelsea back ragged in this game. And how i wish Man u has the honor of a Walcoot today on the pitch. They would have killed the game off seriously. As terrible as Adebayor is with goal misses,am sure he wld have ad a field day on that pitch today.Evans was ok,Evra was himself, but Neville?Am sure if Chelsea team av the like of someone that read games in their midfield,Neville side wld have been terribly exploited.

Rio was also outstandin and cld av scored. How the hell did he find himself in that one on one with Cech and Berba was no where to be found, that guy is just a clanger really,i mean Berba.Adebayor pls learn frm the way Rio kept himself on to be 1 on 1 with Cech.Na defender be that oo

Really i feel arsenal can beat these 2 teams with their present form.

with cr back,i dnt think utd need berba. No need to play a stereo type attcker stickin it upfront but mobile players like rooney,CR and tevez who are both hardworkin and can move into space to run the chelsea back4 ragged.I reiterate,Chelksea and indeed Felipe as not been put to any major test and this is the time for united to ask em some question. For example,it was forceful play that made the blus back 4 made a mistake that led to Bents goal @ the bridge(whther self-service or stam). If these 3 players, tevez, rooney and CR can come up with just a glint of last seasons energy, den the blues will be up4 it.Berba for me will take time to learn manc's regimen and tmr shldnt be used for that benchwork.Let Cole and Bo be forced to stay back, that will make Mikel do more of comin to the back and we always knw the result of that. That boi is not a natural man marker and will always "wear" united's "jersey color"(red) if and when forced to.

i knw the blues fans are gonna literally kill me for this, but i fink they have faired well so far with their new style of play cos they ve played so far with teams who has allowed them to play and most times played with em "lying down".In 2 matches that questions av been asked of them i.e Wigan and Tottenham game,i av seen them falter and stutter. The game tommorow is a totally different kettle of fish and i knw United is not a team you play with sticking to one game plan and am yet to see chelsea switch game plan in their recent games. This is not takin anythin away frm the champagne football Roman craves for and Felipe seem to be churnin out impeccably, but i still feel Chelsea is not there yet with this new style.A team that take the game to Chelsea now will av a freer passage than it was in the last 4 seasons with their "Rugby style".I am sure the game tommorow will be too tactically inclined and may tend to be boring sorta and end in a "drabby draw"a la Chelsea VS Liverpool last season @ stamford.I cant remember in recent times if United had lost 2 matches in a row(@ H help with that),and i dnt think it will happen now(though i hate to say that as an arsenal fan).Am predicting a goaless draw, and if anyone will win the game,it WILL be Man U.Those guys just knw wen to turn the heat on.
