Politics / Re: Ogun State Revenue Drops By 74% by kayusely: 12:40pm On May 30, 2016
metronaija:
The treasury of the Ogun state government has gone leaner these days, as the gloomy Nigerian economy takes its toll.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun at an interactive session with various groups and citizens of the state on Sunday dropped the shocking news that the state revenue has fallen by 74 per cent. At its zenith, Ogun state was making N6billion monthly from internally generated revenue up till 2014.

But on Sunday, Governor Amosun did not give the comparative revenue figures as of now, while enumerating the various bills his government pays to run its schools.

“Things are not like when we came in. What we are collecting now is 74 per cent less than what we were collecting in 2011 when we came into office.

” Imagine paying almost N800M to N900M monthly to our schools and it is interesting to know that we have the largest number of institutions in the country and most of them are state owned.

“We pay Olabisi Onabanjo University,OOU N85.5M every month and it was paid for four years. We have also paid backlog of 18-19 months. If you multiply this by 12 and times by 48, it means that in four years,we have paid over N40billion to them. You will agree with me that it is not easy, but we will not relent.

“TASUED with total number of students of almost 20,000 collects between N50M to N60M monthly,MAPOLY, Abeokuta of about 25,000 students receives N40M,OOUTH,Sagamu,N190M, DS Adegbenro,Itori, about N8M.

“The primary school teachers are not there, they take away nothing less than N2.1billion monthly and if we added the secondary staff to it,it gives you something around N3.2billion.

The 2016 Ogun State Investors’ Forum kicked off on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 with power packed presentations from Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola and more.

This Ibikunle is a true hustler…the guy is really working hard to revamp Ogun state. Kudos to him!

Politics / Re: Amosun Commends Ogun State Workers (photos) by kayusely: 1:15pm On May 02, 2016
dumebiifeanyi:
below is a press release from the government;

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has praised the generality of public and civil servants in Ogun State, for the uncommon maturity and understanding that they have displayed in the face of the current economic challenges confronting the nation.
The governor stated this in a goodwill message he delivered, on Sunday, on the occasion of the 2016 Workers’ Day celebration.
Addressing the workers who came out in their large numbers to celebrate 2016 Workers Day, Governor Amosun promised that his administration will continue to strive to constantly put a smile on their face as it has always done.
The governor added that this was evident in the fact that Ogun State has not only paid April 2016 salary but also paid part of the outstanding cooperative deductions it was owing.
Governor Amosun reminded the workers that the decision to pay part of the cooperative deductions was in fulfilment of a promise he had earlier made to them.
The governor pointed out that he had earlier promised to pay part of the outstanding cooperative deductions at the end of May 2016 but just decided to make it earlier than promised by starting at the end of April.
This, he said, was done not only to appreciate the workers, but to also reinforce his administration's commitment to always seek the welfare of the workforce.
Governor Amosun, while eulogizing the Nigerian worker for his resourcefulness and dedication to duty said, “in Ogun State, the place of our workforce in the actualization of our Mission to Rebuild, cannot be overemphasized.”
He added that, “we recognize the prominent role you play as the engine room, the driving force behind the implementation of our lofty ideas and goals for the development of our dear state.”
Governor Amosun also explained that the realization of the importance of workers is one of the reasons the Ogun State government has continued to ensure that it consistently meets its obligations to its workforce.
“In spite of the current financial challenges, we have consistently ensured payment of salaries as and when due,” Governor Amosun said.
He added that, “where we have grey areas, we will not renege on our agreements.”

Senior Special Assistant (Media),

I bring you greetings from the current sorry state of our dear country. It is a well known fact that we played a massive role as steered by our own(Tinubu) to bring this present government to power. We did this partly because we felt GEJ was incompetent and because we had a platform that made one of our own to be vice( and ultimately president incase anything happens. Yaradua comes to mind). I have been thinking and I'm lost in between hiding under the shame of what I voted for and to scream so as to save my dear country and what the future holds for my kids. We don't need a prophet to tell us we voted in ERROR. We placed soo much hope on a man who doesn't have good past leadership records or even a certificate. We voted for him out of what we percieved him to be. We are all suffering it now. We cannot keep on answering Zombies. Zombies smile in suffering. I suggest we do something and urgent too. Can we impeach him so that our son can take over? The irony is that the career of our bright stars such as Fashola,Adeosun, Osinbajo etc have been stained by extended clueless-ness of PMB. We can still save our race and what we stand for. I rest my case!
You're not a yoruba person. A yoruba person will not harbour evil plans or thoughts against a fellow human being. I strogly believe you're IGBO.
