As the adage goes; ‘silence is golden’, the following is a list of 20 situations where it is better to be silent: 1. Be silent – in the heat of anger. 2. Be silent – when you don’t have all the facts. 3. Be silent – when you haven’t verified the story. 4. Be silent – if your words will offend a weaker person. 5. Be silent – when it is time to listen. 6. Be silent – when you are tempted to make light of holy things. 7. Be silent – when you are tempted to joke about sin. 8. Be silent – if you would be ashamed of your words later. 9. Be silent – if your words would convey the wrong impression. 10. Be silent – if the issue is none of your business. 11. Be silent – when you are tempted to tell an outright lie. 12. Be silent – if your words will damage someone else’s reputation. 13. Be silent – if your words will damage a friendship. 14. Be silent – when you are feeling critical. 15. Be silent – if you can’t say it without screaming. 16. Be silent – if your words will be a poor reflection of the Lord or your friends and family. 17. Be silent – if you may have to eat your words later. 18. Be silent – if you have already said it more than one time. 19. Be silent – when you are tempted to flatter a wicked person. 20. Be silent – when you are supposed to be working instead. “WHOEVER GUARDS HIS MOUTH AND TONGUE KEEPS HIS SOUL FROM TROUBLES”. My take on the protest: Even though this protest may not make much difference, but it will make a statement that we are no longer suffering and smiling. Now we are taking to the street. In time, we will write and sign a vote of no confidence on our Representatives in one of the hallow chambers. Secondly, the protest organizers should not only agonize but also organize. Let them give practicable solutions to this economic quagmire. It is not good to complain alone without proffering solutions. So let them give us alternatives. Third, what next after the protest? We go home, tired, eat - of we still have something to eat - sleep - without light - and wake up Tuesday morning tired and worried again about the country? What exactly are we going to do after the protest? Am I in or out or on the fence? I am ...... in support but will not be there, b'lohun bafe. |
baakus:Robert Kiyosaki said there is bad debt and good debt also know as leverage. If you borrow money to build house you would rent out, it is good leverage even bank will encourage you. Use money to start business, good leverage. |
AfonjasMustDie SmartyPants You are both right. But this is it. When we talk of multiple income stream most people think of physically being present but that is not it. For instance, my former boss is a civil servant (income stream 1) buy he also had 2 cars he gave for higher purchase (income stream 2), also had a fish farm (income stream 3), and one online business (income stream 4). So it is not necessary you are in physically there. That is even practically impossible. And it is easier these days to have multiple income stream because of the technological advancement. And to the case of rich men having one income stream, I disagree with you. We all know Dangote owns cement factory, has Dangote flour, spaghetti etc. Forget the popular business we see them do, they have another gig which might not be known (legal businesses o). |
My question is, What will happen to the anti 2face protesters on 5th when they will do their Day 1 of the protest? |
By no means shall you attain Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, etc., it means here Allah's Reward, i.e. Paradise), unless you spend (in Allah's Cause) of that which you love; and whatever of good you spend, Allah knows it well. By Kazeem Abolore There are 5 distinct habits that kill financially which you might indulge in knowingly or unknowingly. As a friend advised, no time for epistle, let’s look at them quickly. 1. Excessive Debt Yes debt. Yoruba call it “gbese” and indeed it is gbese. It sucks one financially, if you continue taking debt excessively, you would soon be helping others to earn while you become their slave. The key to winning the money game is the answer to the question: “who is indebted to whom?” If you are indebted to me, you become my ‘slave’ till the day you finish the debt. However, there are good and bad debt (talk for another day). Just know that you need to reduce your debt. 2. Having Only One Source of Income A single source of income is like a one-legged chair which you cannot sit on. Having 2 income sources is like having a two-legged chair, it can’t be sat on too, the same goes for 3 income sources. Financial advisors recommend having at least 4 income sources or you could be overwhelmed by the size of your expenses unless you are the CEO of Chevron or some other multinational company. Create multiple income streams to mitigate the risk of going broke as expenses swallow your meager income. 3. Impulsive Buying Some people have bagged first and second degree in this and have already purchased the Doctorate form in impulsive buying. Just as Robert Kiyosaki puts it, “the rich invest first and spend what is left but the poor spend first and have nothing left to invest”. Beware of impulsive buying. 4. Spending without Earning An average Nigerian saves money in the bank and without adding to it, spends it little by little on non-income-generating doodads. What causes this mostly is the aphorism, “counting your eggs before they hatch”. Why not allow your egg to hatch and then go for the spending spree? 5. Lack of Financial Goals This point is supposed to come first but I am mentioning it last for a purpose. 10 is more than 1, yet it comes behind. A Financial goal is a goal you must have aside your life goal else you may end-up languishing in poverty. You cannot have it if you do not dream it and if you have it without dreaming of it, you might lose it quicker than got it. This is why it is advisable to have a financial goal that you work towards achieving in a dedicated manner. It is your guide to achieving financial freedom. http://www.opinions.ng/5-habits-kill-financially/ |
Truly it is a free world and everybody is entitled to his opinion. More so, there is freedom of speech, especially in this era that it is democratized. But you might agree with me that, as free as the world is and as much as we are entitled to our opinion, there should be limits to what we post on social media. Aside from treasonable posts, there is the ‘demarketing’ aspect of ill-advised posts. For every Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other posts you make, it either market or demarket yourself. To help you avoid sharing posts that devalue your ‘brand’, here are 3 questions you must answer or ask yourself before clicking that “Post” button: 1. Is this Post Consistent with My Personality? Sometimes, I am dismayed by people who post disclaimers declaring they are not responsible for their posts that include nude pictures, solicit for money from friends or family etc. People tend to have interests they post mainly abot. I know Dayo Williams posts politics, sport (football) mostly and I know Elufowora Eluyemi Lateef for his comic but sensible posts. I trust Suraj Oyewale will never post anything sexual and Olatunji Abdulkabir Olajide is a versatile poster. Yet, I do not need anyone to tell me he would never share abusive post or use vulgar words. All these people have one thing in common: their posts are always consistent with their personality. So ask yourself: “is this post in line with my personality?”. Yes, post if it is. No, do not if it isn’t. 2. Will I Be Proud of this Post Next Year when Mark and his Team Will Remind Me of it? You know everyday Facebook reminds us of what we posted exactly one year before. Some people are happy with it that they share it again. This has happened to me severally. In the same way, some are not proud of it and they regret sharing such. We have seen countless cases where people’s post come back to hurt them. Would you like to be one of such people? That is why you must ask yourself, “Would I be happy with myself if I see this post in future?” Yes, post it. No, don’t share it. 3. Of what value is this Post to My Friends? Dale Carnegie of blessed memory said we communicate for I think 4 reasons; to share information, to persuade, to entertain and to educate. Our means of communication has shifted in this century from traditional print media to largely online media but the purposes still remain the same. So you ask yourself, ” where does this my post belong? Am I entertaining, informing, persuading or educating?” If it falls in on one of them, share. If not, I advise, don’t. Meanwhile, for branding and personality building purpose, share more of educating and informative posts than entertainment. That would help you a lot in that regard. Kazeem Abolore S. Expecting counter protest in weeks after this. |
