Politics / Re: Al-Qaeda Plans To Bomb Nigeria? by kbstar(m): 4:39pm On May 15, 2008
Nigerian police, in broad daylight, unleashed terror on the innocent people of Ogaminana and neither Okiro nor the president has taken any serious step on the issue. See here http://ebiraview..com/2008/03/images-of-ogaminana-after-police.html and here http://ebiraview..com/2008/02/black-day-in-ogaminana.html

If police could 'bomb' the people they are trained to protect, are they any better than al-qaeeda?
Gaming / Play 'who Wants To Be A Millionaire' Online by kbstar(m): 4:24pm On May 15, 2008
You can now play 'Who wants to be a millionaire' online via their website. I have tried and found the site a great fun to have.

To play, text PIN to 345, get your codes, go to the site http://game.millionairenigeria.com/game and register your nickname. You can then login with your registered nickname, password and code to play the game.

Upon every sms request, you get three (3) set of codes that qualifies you to play 3 games on the fly. It's really cool but I wonder how they pay the winners. I have made up to N20,000 on different occassion. To walk away with your win at any point, simply click on the 'w' icon at the bottom right corner of the page.

If you have further information on the game, please share it.

See ya!
Islam for Muslims / Re: Ramadan Is Knocking by kbstar(m): 8:25pm On Sep 04, 2007
Alhamdulillahi! Ramadahan is here again.

Wishing all my muslim brother and sisters a wholesome blessing throughout the period. May Allah accept our Ibaddah and prayers.

We should not forget the sufferings of our fellow muslims in Iraq, Palestine, Afghansitan, Somalia, Pakistan, Chechnya and other muslim nations around the world. We should endeavour to pray for them, aid them in our various capacities and above all, show sympathy towards them.

May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make us witness more and more of this great month in our life time. Jazzakallahu Khairan to the brother who psoted this thread and all positive contributors!

Ramadhan Mubarak!

Webmasters / Re: Accepting Donations On Nigerian Websites by kbstar(m): 12:50pm On Jun 21, 2006
Interswitch has got to do something about their billings. Imagine how much they will make from Nigerian webmasters if they embark on the website donation facility at very low cost.

I hope they read this thread.

Seun, the correct url for interswitch is http://www.interswitchng.com

Webmasters / Accepting Donations On Nigerian Websites by kbstar(m): 2:36am On Jun 21, 2006
Unlike foreign websites, Nigerian websites still lack the facility of donation acceptance as is the case with 'PayPal Donate' used by webmasters in other countries.

Isn't it possible we begin with something, even if it through the use of ATM card?

Note that many Nigerian NGOs and individually owned websites will survive with such service available. I have received many emails from my web visitors querrying the inavailability of donations facility, considering our kind of service.

Any possible solution to this?

www.ebiraview.com would have some face-lift where donation is forthcoming. There should be a solution, somehow.

I don't insult people, that's the difference between me and you.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Muslims Assault U.s. Embassy In Indonesia by kbstar(m): 1:24pm On Feb 22, 2006
Islam is and remains a religion of peace.

Let me ask, why was the cartoon published in the first place? Am sure the publishers knew the possible consequence of such publication. When people enjoy confronting muslims, what do they expect? Has there been a time muslims cartoon or insult Jesus through any medium?

If the cartoon was just a show of freedom of expression, why was it not targeted at the christians? The world understands that no matter the level of spiritual corruption, muslim don't take islam for granted. Islam is fought from various angle, though some muslims can be corrupted, but not the religion.

Muslims also know and recognise the forces behind their problems, those who strive in their daily lives to destroy the strength of Islam, tagging muslims with all sorts of name. When issues of this sort springs up, we know who to fight, but Allah is the best of judges.

We do not support the attacks on embassies and other places over the cartoon, it is not allowed in Islam. U.S didn't publish the controversial cartoon, those who attacked U.S embassy had other reasons just as their is a different reason to the attack of the christians and the igbos in Borno state, they battles are fought on hidden scores.

May God help us all!
Politics / Re: Anti-muslim Riot In Nigeria by kbstar(m): 1:02pm On Feb 22, 2006
I thank seun for his comment.

It is high time we all understood the true position of things. The ignorant hausas fight in the name of religion and eventually tarnish the image of muslims.

The on-going crisis in Nigeria; the cartoon riot and the hitherto bauchi quran controversy, is nothing but a show of tribal hatred. Islam does not instruct muslims to fight innocent people. Destruction of property, lives of women, the young and the aged, are not permitted even in war.

Whatever the northerners do is regional and not islamic, muslims denounce such act and also sympathise with families of the victims. This call for a national dialogue on the persistent ethnic crisis disguised as religious.

All the perpetrators are simply muderers!

Computers / My First Internet Visit And First Email Account by kbstar(m): 4:27pm On Jan 23, 2006
It was on 11/25/2002. About 2 hours to breaking my fast(in the muslim month of Ramadan)!

I left home, determined  to find out what keep people staring at the computers in the business centres for so long. I would rather spend few minutes in typing, printing or photocopying my documents and took my leave. But those guys, looking ever cheery, never left. I decided to  find out what they do.

That evening, about 5 pm, November 25th, 2002, I left home for ojodu- Ikeja, Lagos- to meet a friend at his computer class. He was ready for me. We got to the cybercafe and before I could say yahoo! he opened a webpage and began the lecture!

He introduced me, for the very first time, to the world of internet. I got excited, registerd my first yahoo email address(i use the account mainly for chat this  days). I was on! That's  how it all started.

Today, I read forums, tutorials, news and do little of chat but spend more time in amateurish webdesign(am going pro soonest wink ) and much more. My introducer still doesn't know beyond emailing tongue.

My joy is that I still remember this day and am sure many people don't or do you remember yours? Now answer this question:

When was your first internet visit or when did you register your first email account?

Crime / Re: Harassed By Nigerian Policemen by kbstar(m): 5:43am On Jan 08, 2006
Thank you all for your concern! I will rather forget about the issue for now as I already had enough trouble.

If fellow Nigerians could watch me being molested without uttering a word, then we have a long way to go. I had a similar experience last November along Allen Avenue area of Lagos. You won't believe that not even a single person among the crowd could say anything. Although I wasn't taken in their bus that day, but to my disgust, as soon as I was let go, people started talking, "oh boy, if to say you no open mouth, dey go don carry u go oh!" Imagine a campaign after election.

I don't go out without asking for God's protection because I know there are scavengers out there in black dressing, one thing I will never do is beg or submit to a policeman for no offence. If all Nigerian adopt same principle, the harrassment will be minimsed, at least.

Crime / Harassed By Nigerian Policemen by kbstar(m): 3:42pm On Jan 07, 2006
Intimidated By Nigerian Police!

I left home in a very good mood..hopes of catching up with new findings on the web when I log in to my computer in the office, was dominant in my mind. I was to make a quick purchase of pins to top up our inventory on our website www.prepaidnigeria.com and this prevented me from going straight to the office.

Between the hours of 9am and 10am, Friday, the 6th of January 2006, walking freely around Ogba, Ikeja; a commercial bus containing some policemen stopped abruptly. The men jumped out and sorrounded me and two other colleagues with whom I have priced an Electric Generator set prior to the confrontation.

'Hey guys, we are men of the police force', challenged the youngest guy among the team, brandishing his ID card. Others joined, all with their poorly designed Identity card. We were asked to enter the bus. 'For what?' I challenged immediately. The only female member of the team was the last to disembark from the bus and made straight for my USB drive hung on my neck.

"Give me this thing now!", raged the woman(she didnt know the name) and was pulling the device on my neck. I was perplexed and almost could not utter a word. "What is the meaning of all this?" was all I kept asking. My colleagues put up resistance as none of knew exactly what was wrong or what their mission was. I was kicked, dragged and my colleagues could not stand the harassment. For challenging the police, they were taken in, too. I refused to let go of my USB drive. The woman said she would have to access the device and see what kind of information it carried.

Before I could shout EFCC, I was dragged to the bus, the youngest guy, so full of himself and infact an upcoming devil of the police force, pinned me to the bus floor. I wore a cream coloured brocade to commemorat the friday, looking forward to a nice appearance at the mosque later that day for the Jumu'at(friday) service. My trousers tore, the guy having a firm grip on my neck and I dashed for his too. We kept dragging while the bus moved and fortunately, in an attempt to free myself from his grip, the bus side screen was shattered and a piece of the broken glass tore through the neck of their colleague. This saved me from getting strangled.

We approached the 'Area G' police station, their Evil Den. "Confirmed Armed Robbers', the guy momoured. I kept assuring them that they won't go free. As soon as we stepped out of the bus, they instructed us to go into a room beside the regular counter room. I refused to move. I spoke at the top of my voice. "Who are we to see? I will not move an inch from this spot!" I screamed. This attracted the attention of other policemen and a woman requested to know what was wrong. I gave her my story and also warned that as I spoke, my USB drive was with the police that should anything go wrong with my inventory, they would be sorry. I bradished my MTN dealership ID card and also my official ID card. The woman asked if they ever demended for my identity and I replied in the negative.

At this point, the guys were scared, they said should I have revealed my identity and also released my USB, there won't have been all the trouble. They never requested my identity and they never let me speak. Sidetalks and momours and shorlty after, my flash drive was released, the arbiter disappeared and I was asked to pay for the broken screen.

All the while, I wasn't opportuned to go close to the main building, a clear indication of corrupt and illegal practise. I wrote a statement on a shabby looking paper, part with N4,000 for the screen and the same guys drove me and my colleagues out of the station to the very spot they arrested me, while looking out for my lost shoe. I looked hargard and dirty. I kept cursing and threating, they tried to be friendly but I didn't mind. As soon as we dropped out of their bus, they continued their hunt for other victims!

This is the scenario in many part of Lagos in recent time. Innocent Nigerians are victimised daily simply because they remain coward even at the point of death. Nigeria police, I admit, are the most dangerous criminals around town now. Everyone should be conscious of his movement and most importantly, learn to defend his right, no matter what.

I had a bad day!

Lagosian are characterised by cowardice of the highest order. If a child of such age could be lynched with nobody present to rescue him..well, ihave vowed that many would have visited their graves including myself if such fate met my nephew(God forbids!) just yesterday, the 22nd of August, 2005.

Just around 4pm, a neighbour's son of abt 5years was nowhere to be found and this quickly raised an alarm especially at a time when child kidnap has become the order of the day. my brother's wife joined in the search for the son and before you would say 'wonder' news broke out that my nephew (a 12 year old boy) was seen with the missing son earlier that morning.

Shouts of 'to where did you take the small boy?' echoed around my innocent and confused nephew. I was at home sleeping, tired from my fasting, and this horror lasted. My brother's wife was stunned and she ran to call my brother. Dirty slaps were already reigning this innocent victim's face while the mother(my brother's wife) continuosly challenged every hit until the 'missing boy' was found playing somewhere down the street....the community would have witnessed an 'Ebira madness' had they 'touched' my nephew that fateful saturday. Until lagosians rid cowardice and act as 'men' more of this will keep hapening. may the boy's soul rest in peace and may the community where this evil took place wake up from their sleep and ...nothing more to say
