This sh!!!!!T is about to get real. Deranged mofo! Who in his right frame of mind will want to associate with yall backwards, primitive cavedwellers? grin grin grin

Actually, it is ur own people that are trooping into kogi state in their millions, running away from the soil erosion ravaged land filled with ritualist, drug barons and cannibals, we have 2nd to 3rd generation igbos here, who visit their village every christmas and new year and return to continue with their small business grin grin grin grin grin grin grin
Read carefully u primitive creature, those few igalas in ur zoo are probably southern igalas who lost their way after war, we don't need them and they hate to associate with yall biafrauds, there was even a trade that graced NL front page by a lost southern igala boy in anambra and he talked about how his kind were treated and that the language in the primitive land is on the verge of extinction. grin grin grin infact, they are not igalas anymore. grin grin

May thunder strike those ur lying thumbs there for saying many igala people practice traditional religion grin grin The many igala people u are talking about are kogilities, more than 4 million and 70percent of them are muslims. We true igalas do not wish to associate with ur kind, we prefer other ethnicity but definitely not Biafra, get that into ur miserable skull and face ur tribesmen. grin

CONTRIBUTE? LOL...These two L.G.A(Enugu North and South) are the original parts of Enugu Town. Emene and Abakpa Nike remains Enugu Suburbs. Even in the news, they often say ''Emene, near Enugu...or...located in the outskirt of Enugu'' But with developments of these suburbs, people started to tag the developed part of them as part of Enugu town especially part of Trans Ekulu...With time Edem Nike, Ibagwa Nike, Ugwuomu and the whole of Awkunanaw, even Ninth mile Corner will become debatable parts of Enugu town for good.
From what you just typed you are trying to tell us trans-ekulu, the whole Abakpa junction area (barracks and orthopaedic area), tinkers corner, airport road and its environs are not part of Enugu town. Unless you personally carved them out of Enugu east. Mind you the federal housing estate and state housing estate(actually in abakpa) are in this same enugu east. Also help explain why the house of assembly has a representative for the urban and another for the rural.

Trash! Are they minority in those places or not? U can't tell me about my history. All i know is that majority of igalas, as the largest ethnic group in kogi state, does not share anything with igbos, yes we do business with igbo immigrants in kogi state but that doesn't mean we have anything in common with u people.
Majority of igbos are christain, majority of igalas are muslim
Our food, dressing, culture is different, mr.man! grin

Like i said earlier those igalas who got lost in igbo land as a result of war with the jukuns are even eager to trace their origin back to kogi, in order words, they ain't really indigenes, they were few unlucky people who got seperated from their kinsmen as a result of the mistake of the nigerian govt by drawing unnecessary boundaries. From ur post, Those few, tiny, almost extinct minority u said are in enugu state self wants to leave biafraland, that is why they interacted with attah igala (his traditional outfit doesn't look anything igbo but hausa o) so they can be relocated back. grin grin grin And here u are claiming there support biafra, hehe! U shot urself right in the foot. And lastly, u can never use the decision of a tiny minority who make up less than 1 percent of igalas to judge the whole "real" igalas of kogi. grin
No sane igbo man would love to be an indigene of kogi state. That people who are enthusiastic decided to actually see if they have roots with neighbors they share culture with doesn't mean they want to go back. The attah till today still wishes they migrate back. These people fought for biafra and are still willing to do same in future if need be.
Many Igala people practice traditional religion and same with the igala-igbo of Enugu and Anambra and are neither Christians nor Muslims.
For you to claim a population the size of two LGAs are tiny and about going into extinction shows the extent of your stupidity and ignorance, probably your family a smaller population would go into extinction first.

hehehehehhe! Crack da ribs ooo! Another joker, the last time i checked, those igalas are in their minority, history said they were igala warriors who went for war and lost their way back home. grin grin grin Infact they are not even up to 500 i think. grin grin Infact they are not even igalas but outcast and are a very tiny minority in anambra state, close to extinction. grin grin grin grin

Igalas are northerners, our language is intermixed with hausa, our food northern, culture is northern, dressing northern. grin Igalas are the majority in kogi state, and majority of igalas look northern, apart from that majority of igalas are muslims and majority of igalas kicked jonathan back to otuoke. grin SIMPLE! grin
Your reasoning is just a little above that of a 10 year old. So towns like Igga, asaba, ojo, ogwurugwu all in enugu and ode and others in Anambra are just 500. You know nothing about history son, your elders are not doing enough for you indomie generation.
I should help you a little, the attah of Igala has constant interaction with the Igala people in Enugu. He actually promised to accommodate them anytime they decide to migrate back as most of them have traced their origin in the course of the interactions.
These same people you call outcasts accommodated the echenwo people and other Igala towns affected by the flood for months feeding and also providing clothing for them during the flood. Let me leave the rest for your elders to do.
Probably you are one of those who stay in Abuja and claim Igala but don't actually know the road home.

I don't think Abapka and Emene are part of Enugu. They are in the same category with Nsukka urban, Agbani urban, Udi urban etc

I suggested this before, and I think it's a system in US, where certain projects goes on independent of who is government. The leader at every point in time just have to follow the blueprints of such selected projects. For instance, road projects in entire Enugu state can be planned with blueprint available for say the next 20-50years. Governors within this period just have to carry out the road projects as planned, and the fund for the projects are deducted monthly just as the state is getting its revenues. Each completed rural/local goverment road is handed over to the local govt for maintainance. And every local government in Enugu is empowered financially and with equipment to maintain the roads. This same model can be replicated in certain aspects other ministries. That way, local governments are made more responsible in providing basic amenities, and attention paid to details, rather than having all the work on the governor. With this, the Governor takes a supervisory position on certain small projects and concentrate more on policies, and big projects or advanced amenities for the state. Also with this model, state revenues and rural development are evenly distributed especially based on economic power or potential of towns, with zero tolerance for clannishness.
Enugu east LGA contributes to the geographical area called Enugu town in form of Emene, Abakpa and parts of trans-ekulu(if not all of it). Politically the LGA has two representatives in the house of assembly representing enugu east urban and Enugu east rural. So the enugu East urban is actually part of Enugu town.
I guess most people use the fact that many of those residing in these places are middle class or poor citizens to rule it out as part of Enugu town or probably because recent Governments decided to overlook the area while it's amenities rot.
Other LGAs that contribute to Enugu town include Enugu North and Enugu south.

Can someone tell us the cause of this sudden nationwide stability of electricity supply?
You can't use that to generalise. Most parts of Enugu are on the 2:1 ration with the possibility of no light on your day on. I was in onitsha for a week and can't really say the area (a high profile estate) had light for 20 hours total for the whole week.

Bro, that is the mindset that have kept Nigeria so undeveloped.
WE MUST PAY OUR TAXES ,then we have earned the right to demand how government should invest, on infrastructure, industries & agriculture to create employment and food security, education, health etc, etc, etc, because they are trusted with OUR TAX MONEY!

If we do not pay taxes, we have absolutely no right to tell government how to spend their funds since its not "tax payers money" that they are spending.
Not really, what has actually kept us underdeveloped is the inability of the government to gain the trust of its citizens by utilizing our common wealth and natural resources well to make the environment and life as a whole conducive for individuals.
A government that can't account for funds accruing from our natural resources does not deserve tax from its citizens. this has been the situation in Nigeria since independence.
They may not be spending tax payers money but it's still our common wealth. Every individual has a right to it.
How does one expect the trader in Aba to pay his tax happily. Abi the workers in Ekiti no dy pay tax? Imagine coming to collect Eswama bill for a house under construction like spyder wrote earlier.
Till our government in Nigeria steps up I'm only concerned about what will put food on the table of the ordinary Enugu man.
If you do not provide job opportunities or business/investment friendly environment, you don't have any right to ask any citizen to pay tax.
PoliticsUnpaid Salaries Hit N110bn In States by Kcinho(op): 1:45am On Jun 20, 2015
No fewer than 12 of the 36 states of the
federation are facing difficult times as
the salaries they owe their workers are
approximately well over N110bn. This
represents the salaries being owed by
government of 10 of the states of the
federation. They are Osun, Rivers, Oyo,
Ekiti, Kwara, Kogi, Ondo, Plateau, Benue,
and Bauchi states.
The 36 state governors, who met during
the week in Abuja under the aegis of the
Nigeria Governors’ Forum for the second
time after the May 29 inauguration of the
new government, expressed their concern
over the issue.
The situation, according to Saturday
PUNCH investigation, has been giving some
of the governors’ aides serious concern as
they are also being owed salaries and
allowances.
The governors had resolved to meet with
the President to demand the refund of the
money spent on executing Federal
Government projects in their respective
states to enable them to pay their workers.
Rivers State, for example, which has a
monthly wage bill of about N7bn, has not
paid its workers for three months, putting
the total amount of salaries the state owes
its workers at N21bn.
It was learnt that while some workers in
the state are owed 10 months’ salaries, the
core civil servants have not been paid their
salaries for the past three months. Drivers,
gardeners, cleaners and some office
assistants are some of the workers being
owed salaries for 10 months. These workers
are always paid from government overhead
or imprest.
A reliable source in the state Ministry of
Finance, who craved anonymity, told one of
our correspondents that “Every month, the
government gives out imprest from which
drivers, cleaners and some office
assistants are paid. This set of workers has
not been paid for the past 10 months, while
the core civil servants have not received
their March, April and May salaries.”
The wage bill of Oyo State rose from
N4.9bn to N5.3bn towards the end of 2014
after the promotion of workers and review
of salaries by Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
Therefore, the total sum of the three
months’ salaries the state owes its workers
is N15.9bn.
It will be recalled that after the workers
went on a two-week strike recently, the
government reached an agreement with
labour leaders that the payment of March
salaries would resume anytime in June.
There are conflicting figures on the actual
work force in the state but a reliable
source in the state civil service commission
put the figure between 35,000 and 40,000
with local government workers and
teachers in the majority.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour
Congress in the state, Waheed Olojede, told
one of our correspondents that the
Memorandum of Understanding the union
signed with the state government, which
was the basis for the suspension of the
strike was still in force.
In spite of its status as an oil producing
state, the Ondo State Government still
owes its workers two months salaries –
April and May.
Investigation revealed that the monthly
wage bill for the state’s 56,000 workers
was N5bn. So the two month’s salaries
being owed amount to N10bn.
Of the amount, it was gathered that core
civil servants collect N1.6bn, secondary
school teachers, N1.3bn, while local
government workers and primary school
teachers collect N2.1bn.
The State Commissioner for Information,
Mr. Kayode Akinmade, described the
development as unfortunate. He also said
that Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s aides and
other political office holders in the state
were being owed as well.
“All political appointees are affected,
including me. We’re being paid at the same
time with the civil servants. So, all of us
are affected. But I’m very sure that by
next week, the salaries will be paid.”
Akinmade, however, urged political office
holders who might be threatening to resign
as a result of non-payment of their
salaries to shun such an idea.
“It will be unfair for any appointee to
resign due to the development. When it was
rosy, we all enjoyed it and we should be
able to endure now,” he said.
A source at the Office of the Head of
Service, Abia State, put the state’s work
force at 22, 000. But there have been
conflicting reports on the number of
months workers in the state are being
owed salaries.
While the state government has
consistently maintained that no civil
servant in its core civil service is being
owed any entitlement, workers in various
parastatals in the state have complained
of non-payment of salaries for five
months.
Some workers in the Abia State Universal
Basic Education Board told one of our
correspondents that they were being owed
for five months, while their counterparts in
the Secondary Education Management
Board complained that they have not been
paid salaries for four months.
Similarly, staff members of the state’s
Hospital Management Board, Abia Line
Transport Network and tertiary
institutions, have also complained of non-
payment of six months’ salaries.
A source in the state Ministry of Finance
said that the state’s wage bill “fluctuates
between N2bn and N2.5bn.”
It was, however, learnt that Abia State was
getting between N3bn and N3.5bn monthly
before the drop in the federal allocation.
A Senior Special Assistant on Media to
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Mr. Ugochukwu
Emezue, appealed to the affected workers
to be patient with the government,
assuring that they would be paid their
salaries as soon as the state’s revenue
improved.
He also urged political office holders in
the state to exercise patience, adding that
Ikpeazu’s administration was new and
needed some time to settle down to deal
with the problems.
Like its counterparts, Kwara State also
owes local government workers a total of
N3.4bn as salaries for four months.
Although the state’s monthly wage bill was
said to be fluctuating between N2.7bn and
N2.8bn, one of our correspondents learnt
that the monthly salaries of local
government workers in the state are about
N849m. This amounted to N3.4bn in four
months.
Saturday PUNCH also gathered that Kogi
State Government has 17, 750 core civil
servants and owes N3.1bn in salaries.
According to the state Commissioner for
Information, Zainab Okino, the number did
not include local government workers,
primary school teachers, and staff of the
state judiciary, legislature and tertiary
institutions.
She said the monthly wage bill of the
state government is about N3.1bn.
A source in the state Ministry of Finance
said civil servants and political appointees
had received their salaries up to April 2015
and that May salaries would be paid before
June 30.
But another source said that not the full
salaries were paid. The source said that
local government workers in the state were
only paid certain percentage of their
salaries, adding that it had been the trend
for over six months.
According to him, only Okehi and Okene
local government areas pay 60 per cent,
Adavi pays 45 per cent while other local
government areas pay less.
The Ekiti State Government has yet to pay
May salaries to its workers while those still
undergoing verification exercise have not
received April and May salaries.
According to Governor Ayodele Fayose’s
Special Assistant on Public Communications
and New Media, Lere Olayinka, there are
about 48,977 workers in the state public
service.
A source in the Office of the Accountant
General of the state, who spoke under the
condition of anonymity, quoted the state’s
monthly wage bill as N1.4bn.
The new Benue State Governor, Mr. Samuel
Ortom, alleged that he inherited a debt
profile of N90bn out of which N12bn was
for five months’ salary arrears.
Ortom had therefore initiated moves to
borrow money to pay one month’s salary
across the board to the workers.
He said the development was necessitated
by the concern over the plight of the
workers and the need to persuade striking
state university lecturers to call off their
strike.
The governor, however, said he had
received offers from some banks and
would soon approach the state House of
Assembly for approval to obtain a loan.
According to him, all his efforts to
persuade the state university lecturers to
call off their strike had failed and that
they had insisted that they must be paid
at least one month’s salary.
By the end of June, the Osun State
Government will owe its workers N25.2bn
for seven months’ salaries. The wage bill
of civil servants in the state was put at
N3.6bn by Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The state workforce was also put at
around 40,000 by the governor who said the
population of the workers was next to that
of Lagos State.
Aregbesola has yet to constitute his
cabinet since he dissolved it on the eve of
his inauguration into second term in office
in 2014. However, the governor appointed
the Chief of Staff and the Secretary to
the State Government.
The governor’s media aide, Mr. Semiu
Okanlawon, said though he, alongside
others, had not been paid since November
2014, he was not considering resigning.
It was further learnt that the
administration of former Governor Jonah
Jang owed Plateau State workers six
months’ salaries before he vacated office
on May 29, 2015.
According to the former Commissioner for
Finance in the state, Mr. Davou Mang, the
new governor, Mr. Simon Lalong, will
require about N10.2bn to clear the salary
arrears going by the state’s monthly wage
bill of N1.7bn.
The state’s civil servants recently called
off their six-week industrial action.
Jang was said to have left a debt profile
of N104bn while pension arrears owed
retired civil servants were put at over
N11bn.
The Chairman of the Plateau State chapter
of the NLC, Mr. Jibrin Bancir, told
Saturday PUNCH that the workers decided
to resume work as a gesture of goodwill to
the new administration, adding that the
government agreed to pay two months’
salaries within the next two weeks.
The new Bauchi State Governor, Alhaji
Abdullahi Abubakar, is battling to raise
N8.4bn to pay the state’s workers their
three months’ salaries.
Abubakar, who recently claimed that he
met an almost empty treasury in the state,
said he also inherited two months’ arrears
from his predecessor, Mallam Isa Yuguda.
As of the time of filing this report,
Saturday PUNCH had yet to get details of
salaries being owed workers in Imo, Jigawa
and Zamfara states. But available reports
indicated that Akwa-Ibom, Cross-River,
Ogun, Enugu and Kano states that hitherto
owed their workers had paid.
According to one of our correspondents,
the Kano State Government does not owe
any of its 143,000 workers.
The state government, which monthly wage
bill is about N8.5bn, pays the state
government N3.6bn; local government,
N1.6bn; SUBEB, N2.5bn; judiciary/ North-
West University/ Kano University of
Science and Technology, N3.30bn. Political
appointees in the state are said to be
earning about N8.5bn.

Nairaland GeneralPres. Buhari Will Support My Probe Of Amaechi’s Corrupt Practices Says Wike by Kcinho(op): 7:48pm On Jun 19, 2015
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike
has declared that President Muhammadu
Buhari will fully support his fight against
the massive corruption that characterised
the administration of the immediate past
administration of Mr Chibuike Amaechi.
Speaking after receiving the final report of
the Transition Committee of his
administration on Friday,
Nyesom Ezenwo
Wike said that his administration is
committed to recovering all funds diverted
into private pockets by officials of the
outgone administration.
He said : " I am confident that President
Muhammadu Buhari will support my
administration in the quest to tackle the
massive corruption that characterised the
Amaechi administration.

"We are aware that the immediate past
administration and her officials will
resort to blackmail and propaganda for the
purpose of diverting attention from their
corruption practices. We shall remain
focused on the task of getting back
Rivers State resources and assets ".
The governor commended the Transition
Committee for a job well done, saying
that the committee's interim report
helped his administration to take off.
Submitting the final report of the
Transition Committee, former Deputy
Governor, Tele Ikuru described the
Amaechi’s administration as the most
corrupt in the state's history.

Ikuru said that the former governor
expended N812million to furnish his
personal residence at the expense of
the state, while N4.96b was spent on
Justice Karibi White hospital with no

LONDON — A stowaway was found dead
after falling from a jet at the end of an
8,000-mile journey from South Africa to
London — but another survived and was
being treated in hospital, police said Friday.
The victim plunged from the British
Airways plane and onto the roof of a
clothing business in the Richmond area of
southwest London, which is close to
Heathrow Airport.

The plane had traveled more than 11 hours
from Johannesburg and was preparing to
land on Thursday morning.
The pair are the latest examples of
stowaways who travel in the non-
pressurized wheel well of passenger jets,
many of whom do not survive the brutally
cold temperatures and lack of oxygen.

A British Airways spokesman told Britain's
ITV News : "We are working with the
Metropolitan Police and the authorities in
Johannesburg to establish the facts
surrounding this very rare case."
A spokeswoman for London's Metropolitan
Police said that officers had responded to
reports of a "body discovered."
She added: "Officers and the London
Ambulance Service attended and found the
body of a dead man on the roof of a
business premises.

The death is currently
being treated as unexplained. A post-
mortem examination will be held in due
course and inquiries are ongoing to
establish the male's identity."
The survivor, who is believed to be aged in
his late 20s was listed in serious condition
at a hospital.

I very much like your contribution. i just like to add to your contribution a little more.
One thing i have gained by traveling to some few tourist sites abroad myself is that if the site isn't a true wonder of the world, such as Niagra falls or Zambezi/ victoria falls, it would be almost impossible for anyone to leave their country of origin in Europe or America to head to Ogbunike cave or Ngwo pine forest. However, you can attract them to Enugu first by a proven partnership between (International Airline to Enugu + Hotels where they would lodge and to pick them up from the airport and the travel agency in their home countries). This is the tripod for successful tourism in any country doing it. Thus, working with fine hotels here and Ethiopian airline to package a subsidized vacation. Once they know one week vacation will cost $2,000 dollars including airfares and hotel, then they are likely to pay for the package. Ofcourse when they are here, the participating hotel can take them to local tourist sites like Ngwo pine forest, Ogbunike cave, ezeagu waterfall etc, if those were developed. They will typically buy souvenirs in Nigeria, they will pay for the transportation of using the hotel's air-conditioned mini-buses to travel around, food, local clothing, local art work etc. These will then add to funds coming into the economy.

Kenya and South Africa are able to maintain a reasonably high amount of tourists visits from western countries in spite of fear about terrorism and crime in those countries because they organize packaged vacations through travel agencies in the West, Japan and China.
Coming to Nigeria isn't an easy task at all, even for Nigerian citizens living abroad with their spouse and children. If you go to our embassies for your children visa because they are born abroad, they will be dribbling you from pillar to post, until you pay someone bribe. For foreigners who aren't used to that type of "settlement" behavior from government offices, they simply skip going to Nigeria and choose Kenya, Tanzania or South Africa. That is why i always laugh when our Nigerian tourism ministers naively say building up a cultural carnival or festival is just enough to bring anyone to come to Nigeria without fixing the massive hurdles involved in actually coming to Nigeria. If we fix the hurdles involved in coming to Nigeria, even without ministry of tourism, tourists from all parts of the world will flood Nigeria.

Think about it and put yourself in a tourist's position. If there were a travel agency at the Shoprite Mall, Enugu who is speaking Igbo or English and promoting a packaged one week vacation trip to Brazil for $2,000 or $3,000 dollars (airfare, hotels, visa), if you have money, you may want to pay and the travel agency will sort out everything. If you had to seek out Brazil embassy yourself and find airlines flying to Rio de janeiro, and also to find hotels in Rio where you will stay for 1 week, to learn how to communicate in Portuguese or learn the language so that you can take taxis there and move around, it will be too daunting and you will probably never visit there. Unless, we simplify these and make the tourist just pay a lump-some specified amount upfront and everything else involved is taken care of, they will never come here.
You are so on point.
I would have nominated you for SSA to gburus on tourism/hospitality but them no go listen.
One money bag who funded his campaign should be warming up to hijack that one....dats if his mind dy tourism.

We need to work on tourist attracting activities and structures in Enugu. We need to make sure that is easy for people to visit from far places and there are activities or places to visit and the city will be safe for them to enjoy. So that they can go back and bring their friends.
Tourism and agriculture with agro-allied factories are the two pronged strategies to develop the economy of Enugu state.Building decent markets for the city residents will also have some limited impact in the state or city's development. However, the bottomline is that we need people coming into the state to spend money which will generate jobs and economic activities more than merely circulating the money in the state in the form of local markets.

I am glad oakland has been set up. We need more amusement parks and fun things in the city. Someone talked about building water parks behind hotel presidential and Igbo history museum beside the international conference center. A hotel with many fun amenities such as Grand Hotel Asaba complimented with the type of water park at Tinapa (Calabar) is needed in Enugu. These things should be pursued seriously.
The government has not really considered developing tourist sites like the Ngwo pine forest, ezeagu water falls , akwuke beach etc. I love visiting these sites but the road to the beach was so bad I considered turning around the last time I went there. I bet there are other interesting sites out there to tap into if the right people manage the tourism board coupled with adequate government support. Some cultural festivals and carnivals can be promoted too. With adequate investment and management, those villagers who harass individuals that visit these sites can be employed while revenue from these sites and festivals increase our IGR.
